She's a living legend. There's no new school talent that can match her in pure raw vocal talent. As you discover more old school talent like Patti and Aretha, you'll see they're unmatched in vocal talent.
On the original song Cissy Houston who is Whitney Houston mom was singing background vocals for Aretha she hits that high note normally when this song is performed live Aretha cousin would do it & I believe Aretha cousin is singing background for this performance
Ms. Patti Labelle is legendary! Check out her music, she has spanned many many decades! Also, as for back up singers, check out Judith Hill! Judith was a "back up" singer for Chaka Khan for Years, but is Now an Artist in her own right! Love this reaction... very genuine!
You have tapped into one of the most legendary singers of all time. Patti ain't for everybody because her way of delivering a song comes from her soul. Those who connect with her know she gives her and 100 percent of the time. I don't think there will never be another singer quite like Patti, so I cherish her. Great reaction video.
You'll hear the same high note in the background from Aretha Franklin's original "Ain't No Way". And it's none other than Cissy Houston, the mother of Whitney Houston.
From the Patti LaHelle parody series Got 2 B Real: "Look, I sang 'Aint No Way' for her once. I was going in. She sat there and sat there and looked ... nodding like I was repeating her order at the drive thru window. And that's not even the worst of it. That hug gave me frostbite, okay?"
There’s so many songs that you haven’t even touched a book on. She has over six decades of music. She is still touring and she has no chance in stopping. I’m going to her concert this year so I am on cloud 3000
I was born in '63 and I grew up with the old school sounds which has the greatest sound and they all had their own unique sounds and there were always a band and background singers, which made the lead singer sound even better. The artist I've seen in these years of 2000's were not as exciting because they didn't have a band nor background singers! The music was prerecorded. Yes, you younger people really need to go back in time and take a listen to where most of the best sounds came from! I have always had a problem with rappers recording over old school sounds. I guess they couldn't come up with their own sounds. But, yes Pattie is just one of many acts from way back. Check EWF, The Isley Brothers, Marvin Gaye, Chaka etc. The best! ++
she did a Gospel Play with Al Green called Your Arms are too Short to Box with God. Also check out You'll Never Walk Alone with The New Jersey Mass on Motown Returns to The Apollo
Patti and Aretha Whitney kiki Wyatt fantasia Jennifer all started out "gospel" singing to name a few. You can still hear it in all of their voices because that gift ain't going nowhere people might rename it but it's still there and it still is what it is 😂😂
Hey kid welcome to the world of legends, you should listen to Lady marmalade done by Patti . And by the way you have some chops yourself. Looking forward to seeing more on your Channel.
Not sure if you're aware that this was a tribute performance to Aretha. This is also the performance where Patti sang Aretha's song and it became more synonymous with Patti.
I thought Patti was to forceful getting the high notes, listen to Aretha's it was beautiful, went up smoothly on the high notes opposed to Patti she had to force it

@@pussycatalI agree Fantasia is good, but she's no Patti LaBelle in her prime.
@5:20 minutes... that's Patti acknowledging Tina Turner, young man.
You'll learn. It just feels good to see the young people going back to where it started. You have a plethora of Gospel artists that went secular.
