How did you do this in 1 turn🤯

I noticed that there are much less enemies in your version of the Gateway compared to my experience. Is this also dependant on the map layout, or is it influenced by the difficulty setting?

The number of enemies can vary a lot in gateway levels. I've seen over 60 enemies in a generated layout once. I'm not sure if the difficulty setting influences map generation.

@@jaroh1240 i see. I admit i'm not a big fan of this design choice. It works in The Tower of Doom, but for the main game fixed levels would have been better imo.

@@francescomena8181 I don't like the randomized levels either. I think it makes battles less interesting to replay levels if they don't have a layout you can optimize your strategies on. The execution on the randomization itself is also iffy, so some levels end up becoming comically easily. (Most notably reach areas.) Tower of Doom suffers from customizability options that would make repeated playthroughs more engaging.
To be clear, not every in the game is like this. Almost every story level and optional Spark level have the same layout each time. The side quest battles are all randomized. The "Gateway" levels randomize the layout and the types of enemies it selects, while Toad levels keep the same layout but randomizes the positions of enemies.

@@jaroh1240I knew already that Story and Spark levels had fixed layouts, but i admit i didn't know the Toad levels are always the same minus the enemies, that's cool to know :) and yeah, i remember a specific Reach the Area mission in Terra Flora with the goal being only a few meters distant.
On one hand i get why they did it, since it probably allowed them to make a lot of battle maps for the game in a semi-automatic way while they focused on other aspects of the game (like the combat system itself), but i'm sure fans would have been satisfied with less battles if their general quality was higher.
What are you referring to with the customizability options in Tower of Doom?

@@francescomena8181 I would've liked to have options to customize what enemies appear, mission types, number of floors, and available heroes and sparks among other things. Tower of Doom is the most replayable part of the game, but there's a lot of wasted potential.
