I bought a copy of this LP from the man himself, Cosmic Michael, in San Bernardino before a J.Geils Band/KISS/ZZ Top concert in 1974. Dude had an armful of copies of this album; I think I gave him three bucks for one. Wish I still had it! It would be great to hear "Woodstock Nation" again.
Hey Mitchell! I hope this comment finds you well! I'm currently trying to collect as much info as possible about Cosmic Michael -- it hasn't been easy. Essentially, I'm trying to build a decent bio for him since he's poorly documented. I found your comment really interesting. If you're able and willing, I'd love to ask you some questions about the event you listed above. Just respond here if you're interested, and I'll provide my email info. Thanks and best regards!
@@vinyl_navigator I don't think I'll be much help to you beyond my original post. Thinking about it now I was wrong about the year; based on the time frame when I started dating my high school sweetheart it would have been early 1975 (I was 16 with a new driver's license and a new girl that night). The concert was held inside the Swing Auditorium on the National Orange Show fairgrounds in San Bernardino, CA. We were in line to buy tickets at the box office when Cosmic Michael appeared. He was wearing standard hippie garb and chatted with everybody. We spoke to him for a few minutes but the only detail I remember is my girlfriend was excited to hear his record since she was a piano player too. The LP sleeve appeared to have been handmade; 2 pieces of cardboard glued together and the artwork also glued onto the front and back covers. I gave it to my girlfriend of course but God only knows where she and it are today.
I'm digging it. I agree with spacefreak48 that rarity doesn't equal quality, but I hear some good psych guitar and mood here for sure. Thanks for posting this obscurity.
