I once attended a fundraising benefit for a man who had GVHD. Sadly, many people who attended the event were ignorant of this serious condition and consequently rioted, thinking it was a scam. The story does have a happy ending however as Tobias has since recovered fully.

@@mairabarron6070 Hi Maria, bottom line is she's still alive. After my post she continued to get worse. So they performed a second transplant. This time in a very secure and clean room with minimal staff. Since then she's been in a very secluded room where only the nurse can enter. I communicate to her via letters. They won't allow her to have a phone in case it introduces a bacteria (its impossible to sterilize a phone). Every now and then she stops responding to certain medications so they have to switch medications. The whole process has been 2 1/2 steps forward two steps backwards. But she's slowly getting better. Doctors are hopeful they can release her summer of 2022. Thank you for showing interest 😃
I unfortunately got GVHD because my body did not do well on the immunosuppressant medications, but my doctor isn’t too worried about it since we’re trying to find treatments for the gvhd.
My mom just got my stem cells, the cells just started to produce white blood cells. I am now so nervous of GVHD, hopefully she will have only mild one.
