This song is forever etched in my mind as one of my "Key Rave Memories."
In October, 2000, just after moving to Hawaii, I was booked to play an event headlining Pronti & Kalmani (Alice Deejay). Since I had just moved from Texas, the promoter had me listed above the locals to give the impression they had flown me in. Maybe that could have been my first clue about what I could expect. There were 30 names on that flyer... if I had known anything about Hawaii's scene at the time, that would have been my second clue.
Upon arrival, I was hassled at the gates before arriving at the "secondary stage." This "stage" was two tops and a sub under one of those 10x10 pop up canopies and it was so close to the main stage that if you weren't directly in front of the speakers the sound would bleed over. The DJ list for this secondary stage showed us having 45 minute sets, each.
To say it was disappointing is an understatement, but I'm not NOT gonna put some records on. About 45 minutes in, I realized that the DJ after me was a no show, so I kept playing and I was just focused on the records that I didn't notice a small crowd sort of gathering. I think the promoter had booked a fairly decent D&B act and put them on before Pronti & Kalmani, but Hawaii didn't have a big D&B crowd at the time so folks were sort of wandering away from the main stage.
Anyway, I threw on "She Does" and was just groovin' when my then partner tapped me on the shoulder and pointed in front of the tables and there was just this huge crowd of folks dancin' their asses off. It was absolutely surreal. I noticed this person trainspotting the record and he looked over and asked me if I was a "Progressive House" DJ, and I said, "Mostly." "Nice," he responded. After my set, he invited me up onto the main stage to hang out, while P&K played their set (he was one of the local opener for the main stage).
That guy would go on to become one of my best friends, a DJ that is (in my opinion) one of the best in the world, and ultimately Hawaii's main Prog House promoter in the '00s, throwing events and booking acts like Taylor (Calling Your Name), Steve Porter, Moshic, and others and trusting me to open for Behrouz on his first visit to Hawaii and Luke Chable for the last gig of his Renaissance World Tour before heading back to Australia. He even hosted Quivver. I'll never forget the sort of confused look John gave me when I asked him to sign my (then unreleased) white label of "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You."
Anyway... that night could have been so bad, but it turned out being the catalyst that enabled me to actively gig in Hawaii's rave scene as a respected local DJ... and the main thing I remember is looking at this record spinning on the platter and then looking up to see a couple hundred people in front of my stupid little tent and feeling that absolutely crazy joy...
Anyhoo, if you read all this, sorry... I just had to sort of get this out, I guess. Music just... takes you places and this took me back like I was experiencing it again...

In my late childhood, this one was the first one of the electronic genre that have touched my ears for the very first time. And I didn't knew the name of it. 23 years of search and yesterday I have finally found it.

Got a chance to meet him and watch him spin at the Hooj party thrown by Red Jerry at the Shadow Lounge WMC 2000. Good guy as well as an amazing DJ and producer, Jerry as always was awesome and Dade the owner of Shadow Lounge was just about the coolest club owner. He gave me VIP seating without having to buy the 300 dollar bottle of vodka on the table. We compensated them all very well regardless. It was a magical evening. Hard to believe that was 23 years ago.

It caught me in May 2000 and still holding! If the human being could have a definition of style or flavor of itself... whatever you call it, just a description of a person... this track would be definitely a part of my own, alongside with 1998 club house, early 2000s progressive house and 2002-2005 psychedelic trance. It's a part of me, forever. Not less than that.

Original track is produced by Stoneproof these are mixes, but yeah Quivver is good. He was known as Space Manoeuvres before changing his stage name to Quivver, love Part 3.
