Silent strike changes quite a bit based on opponent and your position in comparison to the opponent. Approach a shielded target from the front (stealthed of course as silent strike needs that) and you consistently roll up and over the shield to backstab

These silent strike moves are great, also had them. We were so excited with my husband each time. Key is to attack before they get a hold of you 100%. You can also use smoke bombs, although I find just attacking funnier 😬.
When you put it all together its absolutely brilliant the way you can pull off all those amazing moves. Its an absolute pleasure to play these games because they work so effortlessly. Practice makes perfect as they say
I found the combat needs still some refining, because especially against machines i used to evade constantly in an arena without getting the space from the maschine that i needed to refocus and plan my next attack. I also had a lot of problems to evade attacks from maschines without geting hit and sometimes wished the shield she uses for gliding was still usable as one, even if it needed to recharge before i could use it again or something like that. I hope for an improvement in some way for combat like that in the upcoming dlc.
What you’re describing here is playing style related, while I do agree the combat can be improved, and it will for the next game as this one was from its successor, those issues you mentioned are not really related to combat mechanics as I don’t have those issues, however I used to, until I improved my playing style, depending on how good you are properly learning all machine attack patterns, they are all telegraphed to a degree depending on how powerful they are, and some of them have area effect, meaning that while you’re inside this area, you can not dodge them. Once you learn all attack patterns and effects, and how to dodge/avoid them, you’ll pretty much be able fight any machine at any difficulty with no damage. Just like the poster of this video did for humans, he took the time to learn what’s necessary to look this badass, and you can too, if you dedicate the time to do so. I sucked at it at first, and I’m not fast at all at being good in video games, but after almost 1000 hours with this game, I’ve learned to kill anything while remaining untouched. Oh, and I only use hunter arrows as anything else feels too easy, yes, in ultra hard.
@@Vic_n78 Yeah ok, i have 115 hours or so in the game and platinumed it and i understand what you mean with the patterns, but i found it quite inconsistent a lot of times. Like dodging a specific attack might work 6/10 times with no apparent reason that something else was done differently. Just to be clear, i am talking about the big guys like Slitherfang or Tremortusks. I don't know, i got frustrated a lot of times during these big maschine fights, which isn't uncommon for me, but i felt like i wasn't in control enough as the player and it took me out a bit, you know?
@@jezzluck Getting the a platinum trophy is cool, but that says nothing about how good out combat can be, I know it can be frustrating, the Slaughterspine had me pulling my hair out sor a long time. Depending on how much you like the game and how much time you want to invest in it those 6/10 success rate will start to improve. Also, while I can pretty much kill any machine without damage often, it doesn’t mean always, because there are many factors at play in every fight. Slitherfangs are very easy to kill, specially if you learn when to shoot them as you can cancel many of their attacks, you can even cancel them going underground. Plasma can os are the most annoying thing about Tremortusks, the shock cannons too, but they are very easy to take out. You take out the shock cannon first, then the plasma cannons, after that they are a piece of cake. Practice the timing on your dodge, I personally find dodging extremely gratifying and therapeutic 😂. When my skills sucked, I put the difficulty settings to custom: Damage to Aloy: Story Enemy health: Very Hard And fought every machine over and over and over until I mastered them all. Oh, and also easy loot: ON That way while practicing you get a lot of machine parts, win-win. Once you feel confident, put everything back to very hard and see how it goes, or start a game in Ultra Hard.
Only part that was actual combat was the 2 kills before launching up to the sunwing. An energy surge combo to fully charge the spear into a light, heavy combo to strike an energy resonance with an arrow to detonate it
They put the Focus because you're supposed to use it, without Aloy's tech is just Assassins Creed not Horizon. Nothing wrong with this gameplan that but definitely is not "how it should be"
I was expecting you to mess up immediately because of how differently the two games play. At least you were on a low enough difficulty that you didn't have to worry about it too much.
It is far more complex than you think. This is just scratching the surface of its complexity. This rivals anything out there; Assassin's Creed, Just Cause, you name it. Not as hollow as COD, Modern Warfare.
My two biggest complaints is 1: Fix the stealth system. HZD had the best stealth I've ever played, because your HUD let you know the individual awareness, you could target one out of a group (bit of a cheat, but hey), and it just felt like you were stealthy instead of getting within 50 meters and lighting up the whole camp. 2: the melee combat. Mostly just a 'git gud' complaint, but the range of motion is too wide, and timing of power attacks is too long. No defensive options apart from "dodge everything and pray you don't run into a wall/another machine". But yeah, that's probably a skill issue.
I love how much they've improved on mechanics in this game in comparison to its predecessor, every part of it seems to be an upgrade and the variety of skills and abilities make for some pretty creative takedowns!
I'm in absolute awe! I'm fairly new to gaming, so far i've only played Zelda on switch and horizon fw on ps5 - my fiancé 's consoles lol. I never had one of my own growing upso this is all sort of new. Wish i could play like that tho!
I just appreciate the game for rewarding playing how the game "should" be. Not that I want to be told exactly how to do things. But it's nice that it can be more fun to get good at all the different mechanics instead of being some hyper fps god only.

When you put it all together its absolutely brilliant the way you can pull off all those amazing moves. Its an absolute pleasure to play these games because they work so effortlessly. Practice makes perfect as they say
goddamn that was smooth af
That... Was beautiful and I am envious.
When my skills sucked, I put the difficulty settings to custom:
Damage to Aloy: Story
Enemy health: Very Hard
And fought every machine over and over and over until I mastered them all.
Oh, and also easy loot: ON
That way while practicing you get a lot of machine parts, win-win.
Once you feel confident, put everything back to very hard and see how it goes, or start a game in Ultra Hard.
This is wildly impressive! 👏 Subscribed, hope to see more masterpieces like this.
God damn this game looks fun. I hope it eventually comes out on PC (and that I can eventually afford a PC that will do it justice 😅)
Meanwhile I didn’t even know these attacks existed….
the real sample of BAD ASS !!!
SHE'S BATMAN!
But seriously.. she has some awesome takedown animations!
Wow, you are great at melee combat, i really suck at it. I love this game, can't wait for the DLC.
Only part that was actual combat was the 2 kills before launching up to the sunwing. An energy surge combo to fully charge the spear into a light, heavy combo to strike an energy resonance with an arrow to detonate it
This is some next-level gameplay. Amazing!
ok that was sick. especially at 1:18
Some of the best horizon gameplay I've ever seen.
A veteran indeed👌
You’d have to know where everyone is at too do this. I wonder how many time they rehearsed it
100%
The 2nd grapple pull to your Sunwing mount was so SAUCEEE🥵🥵
Finally! Someone out there that plays it like me and how it should be, no hud, compass or aimer. Makes it more dynamic and immersive
They put the Focus because you're supposed to use it, without Aloy's tech is just Assassins Creed not Horizon. Nothing wrong with this gameplan that but definitely is not "how it should be"
The developers didn't put those mechanics in the game for a laugh dude.
Thats gonna be my next playthrough
"How it should be." Uh no. Not everyone has the time or patience for that
@@sfs2040 Fair enough. I just enjoy it like that to be stealthy and enjoy the game mechanics more, its preem chooms, try it sometime :)
Absolutely brilliant. I've been trying to play this way ever since I first saw this video. Powerful , brutal and absolutely brilliant. Steve 👍
Very smooth
This should be the trailer showing of melee combat! This was a movie👏👏👏
I was expecting you to mess up immediately because of how differently the two games play. At least you were on a low enough difficulty that you didn't have to worry about it too much.
What the shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii...that was awesome, 1:19 this sequence felt so smooth.
Is this silent strike,isn't it?
Yes it is
Lol, when she ziplined to the glinthawk, it just reminded me of just cause
That was a sunwing, not a glinthawk.
Lol, pretending Horizon is a complex game.
It is far more complex than you think. This is just scratching the surface of its complexity. This rivals anything out there; Assassin's Creed, Just Cause, you name it. Not as hollow as COD, Modern Warfare.
Aloy would make a great assassin
Now we need a video of a horizon forbidden west veteran replaying zero dawn 🪳
He’s know the best play for every scenario because the character/game literally tells you everything. 😂
Damn bro 😂 the fly up to the bird and drop down to finish him so unnecessary and awesome!
Some assassins creed silent killing my man, you mastered the combat system my friend!!
oh yeah amazing transitions !! I can do all of those move but i never did them so smoothly . This was flawless!
My two biggest complaints is
1: Fix the stealth system.
Just like a well choreographed fight scene
I love how much they've improved on mechanics in this game in comparison to its predecessor, every part of it seems to be an upgrade and the variety of skills and abilities make for some pretty creative takedowns!
I can confirm as a zero dawn veteran that I play like this except but this is so mutch better than I have ever done
You can tell from the outfit choice this is a Zero Dawn veteran ;) I LOVE this.
This game is so fun. They really amped up the style and coolness factor.
Wow, just wow. Epic gameplay kudos to you!
I'm in absolute awe! I'm fairly new to gaming, so far i've only played Zelda on switch and horizon fw on ps5 - my fiancé 's consoles lol. I never had one of my own growing upso this is all sort of new. Wish i could play like that tho!
God when she punches the dude and slams his head on her knees, it's stupidly satisfying to watch.
I just appreciate the game for rewarding playing how the game "should" be. Not that I want to be told exactly how to do things. But it's nice that it can be more fun to get good at all the different mechanics instead of being some hyper fps god only.
Goddamn that grapple at the Sunwing was cool as hell holy shit
Awesome!! Thanks for the memories. If you master it. It will come..😊
Aloy being an absolute psychopath
The new takedown animations are one of my favorite things about this game
