    6:10 yeeesss small fish - big tank!! i work in a pet store and we just redid and planted our display tank (360 L) with co2 installed and put rasboras, neon tetras and otocinclus in it! We also accidentally got one really tiny corydora in the same bag as the otocincluses, we are not completely sure what it is, but its so cute speeding around that we even named it! It reminds me of a a story like an "ugly duckling", it is raised with the otocinclus but doesnt realise its a different species haha

    Mystery snails do in fact naturally lay their eggs above the waterline! In nature they would crawl up a reed and lay them there. The good thing is that if you know what to look for you wont end up with a Surprise Million Tiny snails, and can easily scrape the eggs off the glass. On the other hand it's so fun to see the little snails all over and watch them grow 🐌

    i went to my local canal to catch some fish. i live in the uk so there is less variety than elswhere. i found 4 fish that are either bleak or roach [ yes those are fish], a caddisfly larva, a water louse and some aquatic snail and a stickleback. the water there is very dirty and muddy but the fish seem to be doing ok. might do a fish trap there next week

    Snails don't lay their eggs under the water. Their babies would drown! That's why you should keep your water level a bit lower when you want your snails to lay clutches. Chances are they're gonna do it on the top of the tanks lid or the side.

      Yep, but only apple snails, which mystery snails are a species of apple snail. Kinda cool how that species group is actually amphibious or terrestrial and not 100% actually aquatic, but also means they supposedly like to escape fishtanks and the eggs can make a mess lol

    I was cycling my very first fish tank ever and the ammonia level was blue aswell around 2.5 weeks. I thought I was doing the cycling wrong but apparently it's normal to have an extreme amount of ammonia when first cycling your tank because if the tank was just bought and could have residual chemicals in it since it was just made. I had to assure the worker I didnt have fish in my tank yet😂🤣

    • @skrimper
      @skrimper ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Pretty much all mystery snails are just apple snails and they lay their eggs above the water, if you have a pond they're pretty perfect bc you can easily control their population. If the eggs are submerged then they'll drown. Apple snails have both a gill and a lung and often like to chill at the surface, it is recommended to leave a little extra room above the water line for them to use. Also they can easily climb out the tank so you probably should use a lid

    I plan on starting a shrimp tank. how many shrimpwould yall say is a good amount for a regular 20 gallon. I do plan ro have the tank planted and under the correct water parameters befor adding them anyway.

      Start with 15-20 so they can start breeding and getting there numbers up as fast as possible. If it's planted and well filtered and you feed correctly youll easily end up with 200+ shrimp
