Against that Bewear all you had to do to win was instead of use pain split was swap to Tyranitar. Even if he predicted it and 1 shot tyrantitar your Misdreavus was clear of the Perish song count and could protect out that last turn for Bewear.
It's a 50/50 Chance of prediction. Either Drain Punch on the switch or Stay in.
It didn't matter if Tyranitar went down or not on the switch in. All he needed was to get that extra turn out. Tyranitar couldn't fight the Bewear due to the 4xs weakness to a stab move. Misdreavus had protect. He just needed to switch out to remove the count on her and then throw her back in to protect out the last turn.

Dammit pimp! You coulda just swapped into T-tar instead. Then no matter what move Bewear used, likely Payback, its count would've gone down to 1. Once it faints, you swap into Misdreavus and get a Protect off.

The reason mean look isn't designed to fail on the last pokemon is for cases where it is used on the player in the main game. If a player were to use a revive it would still prevent the swap.

1.Should have switched to Tyranitar on payback after Misdreavus used protect.

Misdreavus instead of Heracross and Scizor?!?!?!?!
Misdreavus was actually good back in Gen 2 due to Perish Trapping strats in a meta where Stall is a common thing. Perish Trapping any Wall with Baton Pass is very big, such as Trapping Blissey, Miltank, etc. Plus, Misdreavus was able to tank Earthquakes outside of Thick Club Marowak, unlike Gengar, who gets rekted by them.
Misdreavus is okay, and Heracross had a terrible move pool and no moxie in gen 2. Lanturn over Scizor though?

During Perish song, you should've switch to Tyranitar after Misdraveus used protect. Therefore, Bewear will use Payback at Tyranitar instead and it goes Not effective, then switch back to Misdraveus so the Perish Song take effect.
Make a team of your 6 all time favorite pokemon would be cool to see which are your favorites and what kind of sets you would use

My favorite OP non-legendary gen 2 mon was probably Houndoom.
Badass look, immune to Psychic attacks, really high speed and special attack, both Fire and Dark moves were special, and it had access to the strongest Dark type move at the time: Crunch.
I probably would've loved Skarmory, Steelix, Scizor, and others, but wouldn't you know it, I got Gold Version and Nintendo kept that stupid goddamn trade evolution horse shit.

Couldnt you just use protect on mosdreveus then swap in tyranitar. Then swap back into misdrevus and go for a protect to win??
Kingdra was absolutely brutal to battle in Gen 2 because of the massive level discrepancy between it and the surrounding areas. Basically, wild pokes around Blackthorn were lvl 20ish and Kingdra was over level 40 and Ice was neutral against it (the Ice Cave being the only place to get Ice types to fight dragons) and you couldn't catch Dragon types until after Blackthorn. So grinding was mind-numbingly tedious and Kingdra had no weaknesses to anything you could catch at that point.
Gen 2 had the worst pacing with regards to leveling imo.

Why did you throw the first battle? I'm sure you saw the obvious play on the second last turn. After you had used protect the first time you swap in tyranitar and it gets knocked out immediately. When misdreavus comes back in it can go for another protect.
