Tom Adams is a great banjo picker, but overplaying and stepping on Charlie and Audie's solos here. Of course, this was in his young years and excited, I'm sure.
Tom did what Jimmy liked, which was keep the banjo driving through though the song . Charlie fiddled through the whole song on “it takes one to no one” right over the top of Audie’s break in the middle. I guess none of them knew we would be listening and talking about it here in 2022 😂
@@banjosforbreakfast6086 Good point. Jimmy was famous for wanting the banjo "in there all the time." There's a great interview with him on the Picky Fingers banjo podcast in which he and Chris Warner talk about the rigors of playing Jimmy Martin style banjo.
What a great lineup in the Sunny Mountain Boys! One of the best.
The king of bluegrass. My son played in his band for a short time
I played in the same show with Jimmy Martin at the Wheeling jamboree in or near 1955.
Jimmy was absolutely one of a kind . I've been a fan since I first heard him on WPFB Middletown in the early 50 ' s on the Smoky Ward Show .
Boy I love this, I can sit and watch this stuff all day. It doesn't get any better than the king. Wish you could post this whole show. R.I.P. JIMMY
One of the greatest!
Jimmy never got the respect and recognition he deserved. He seemed very enthusiastic and down to 🌎.
Love this and thanks for posting it. I'm always up for the king of bluegrass, Mr. Jimmy Martin. Always my favorite, R.I.P. Jimmy you are well missed.
I hear such soul in this. Just like when i listen to the temptations . Its different sure but the emotion is right there in the pocket.
I realize it is kind of randomly asking but do anybody know of a good website to watch new movies online ?
@Westin Jerome I would suggest flixzone. Just search on google for it :)
@Idris Gregory Yup, have been using flixzone for months myself :)
@Idris Gregory Thanks, I signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :D Appreciate it!!
@Westin Jerome no problem =)
The king of bluegrass, always was and always will be
I saw a Del McCoury show from this year on YT. This was a lit festival.

IWT it was always a fun time. turned into Grey Fox.
Looks like Wyatt Rice is watching from back stage.
I think you're right. Good catch.
And a young Ronnie McCoury
Jimmy is one of the most fascinating people I’ve known. Almost functionally illiterate but incredibly smart. And what a head full of music.
Does anyone know if this festival film was ever released?? I keep seeing different bands from the same weekend but not a straight run of the show.
Little Jimmy was born in my county BOONE county WV his nick name is little tatter
Brad Hudson on bass (per the film credits)
jeezo never regonised tom adams
he was a perfectionist. I can't remember what took Jimmy from us but I believe it was natural causes.
He was one of a kind for sure. I believe it was cancer.
