Years later, this is still my favorite song of all time. It means so much to me. The first time I heard music I liked, I was in a bowling ally with big screens playing music videos. Aerodynamic was playing, but I had no idea what it was or who did it. All I knew is I loved it. It wasn't untill years later that I found it again and who was responsible. I was hooked. I don't think there's been 2 days in a row since then I haven't listened to a Daft Punk song. Random Access Memories became my favorite album since I first heard it with this song being my favorite song, even now. God I love this song, from all the little eastereggs in the lyrics to it's just chill and ultimate vibe it gives off. This reminds me of growing up in the best years of my life, as I played it all the time then. It fit the mood, this indescribable good feeling of being young and discovering friendship. I remember playing it borderline ever time I went sailing, letting the sunlight in mg eyes. I remember playing this in my friends car, driving to what felt like paradise. I remember wanting it to never end. Now, I can just playback these fragments of time. I don't get sad, because the moments still shine. I know it all sounds corny, but I'm serious. This song means a lot to me and it always will. Daft Punk may have ended their partnership with eachother but they're music will still live on be played daily by me. Beautifully said. I am also a massive Daft Punk fan, here listening to Random Access Memories from front-to-back for the first time since the break-up. Nice to know somebody appreciates songs like this on the same level.
@@fern4031 why are you so horrible? People came here to enjoy music that is great and invokes emotions and memories. It says more about you that you think it is cringeworthy than it says about anyone that listens to it, even if its daily.
To everyone who's listening to this on youtube. Yesterday I listened to this song on vinyl and man... it's so good. I highly recommend getting a R.A.M. album on vinyl, it sure is expensive to get everything you need but believe me, you WON'T regret it. I almost started crying when I listened to this song for the first time on vinyl.
Daft Punk delved into the past with this album in such a beautiful, inventive way. They brought back disco, but also incorporated a lot of other musical styles from the 70s. "Touch" incorporates prog rock, we get a touch of jazz-fusion on "Giorgio by Morodor" and this is pure AM radio rock. Reminds me a lot of Fleetwood Mac and Steely Dan.

I can't be the only one thinks about a peaceful drive down a long, empty road in a convertible while the sun is setting when this song plays, or any sort of drive really
I think RAM is an excellent call back to Daft Punk's roots as Da Funk, a simple funk band. It's amazing how how much they progressed, even just from 1997 to 2001 (Alive-Discovery). I think very little tops Discovery, but imo RAM is right up next to it. They really are one of the most unique bands out there, mixing 70's funk, disco, jazz, country, and rock with futuristic electronica, making them the most profound EDM group to ever exist, again, imo. But, for the love of god Daft Punk, please go on another fucking tour.
The problem with RAM was that it had no tour format. With Alive and Alive 2007, mixing dance music onstage was a tried and true format. The varying nature of RAM makes it hard to play on stage. Sure, they _could_ get the actual instrumentation for every song. That solves one problem, but then there's the issue of vocals, since every vocalist of RAM is a star in their own right. They _could_ book around the vocalist's schedules, or perform in the vocalist's localities, but that leaves the problem of the robots themselves. They could come onstage for mixing, synth, or talkbox work, but other than that, they don't really have a reason to be on stage. Still fire, but RAM wasn't meant for a tour.
When I play this song on vinyl, I feel like I'm in 1977, I didn't live that era, but all that groove, that beautiful disco music is coming back to life :')
Reading this comment, this song makes a lot more sense to me now as a Todd Edwards fan. If you’re not familiar with his music, he tends to sample 70’s era songs very heavily, basically making musical instruments out of them. So when I didn’t hear that in this song I was confused, I was expecting at least something like Face 2 Face. However, this is definitely reminiscent of the sort of 70s songs he’d sample.
I especially love when the lyric says “Since I can’t stay, I’ll just keep playing these fragments of time”, such a contrast with the instrumental, turns completely the meaning of the song into a little nostalgia treasure.
"I'll just kee playing back these fragments of time" You bet I will, I'll never forget the excitement I fealt each time they released new music. It's sad but everything has to end eventually, and it just so happened that it was daft punk's turn. I just hope that in hundreds of years when we're all dead, people will play their music as timeless classics, same way we do right now with Motzart or Bethoven. Love them.
I think the thing that some people don't understand about Daft Punk is that you can't listen to a song only once and expect to like it, it's very weird, but to me their music somehow just grows on you even if you don't like it.
I was in a fighting game a while back in which there is constant fighting and death but then I saw this one dude dancing and playing this song, he turned the entire server into one chill dance off and we were all vibing in peace for that small time
And it's crystal clear That I don't ever want it to end If I had my way I would never leave Keep building these random memories Turning our days into melodies But since I can't stay I'll just keep playing back These fragments of time Everywhere I go These moments will shine Godpseed gentelmen...
Listening to Random Access Memories now makes it feel like a farewell album made 8 years early. "But since I can't stay, I'll just keep playing back these fragments of time." It's an emotional time for all of us fans right now.
Am I the only one who thinks this song has a strongest message behind a fresh melody? Is like they're trying to tell us to enjoy the ride but not literally; we should face life like this, having our good memories as if we were living them again, build greater ones, we can't stay forever and that's why life takes a value that we can increase as we want. Whatever, skip those words if you want, just know this is a fucking great song.
What a way to say goodbye, excellent Daft Punk song!!! That's why the album is called "Random Access Memories"... a random access to your memories. WE MISS THEM!!!
Todd's slide guitar chops on the chorus are so buttery. Always a treat when these two got together--only collaborator who worked twice with them. That's true love in robot language
Surprising how after 12 years after their Discovery album Daft Punk got the singer from Face to Face to sing again in this nice hip jazz like song. Cant beat their taste in singers
Daft Punk, so many of your songs are tied to the best moments of my childhood. But, those days are gone now and it is time to say goodbye. I will always play back those fragments of time, thank you so much for helping me create them.
Met Todd Edward’s and took a picture with him. He played a sick set, sang this for the fun of it. It was a free gig, not many came, not many knew of him

The drummer of Random Access Memories is called Omar Hakim. He doesnt get the attention he deserves, absolutely brilliant stuff on all of Daft Punk's songs of the album
Beautiful song. All of the elements blend together to create an incredible feeling of serenity and nostalgia. The sounds right after he sings "I'll just keep playing back" and "Those fragments of time" sound like some sort of manifestations of the fragments of time, that we all have embedded in our memories, just flying around like fireflies as the singer (and us) is reminiscing. To anybody who's reading, I know that you have some great memories to look back at. Hold on to them, treasure them, play them back again and again. All will be well :)
After being a fan of daft punk for like 5 years I gave this album a shot only after the retirement announcement. (I knew all the songs but most of them I'd only listened to once or something) This piece right here. This is one of the best daft punk songs for sure. I regret not giving it a chance way sooner, so many beautiful songs on this album. And this one tops them all imo.

This is actually a lot of short samples from different songs combined, that´s what Todd Edwards do
R.I.P Daft Punk... 1993 - 2021
We will miss you 💔🙏
bruh they didn't die
Legends don't die. And they literally didn't die
He’s talking about their characters and who their known as... rip Daft Punk 💔👏🏻
I especially love when the lyric says “Since I can’t stay, I’ll just keep playing these fragments of time”, such a contrast with the instrumental, turns completely the meaning of the song into a little nostalgia treasure.
This song feels different now.

"I'll just kee playing back these fragments of time"
You bet I will, I'll never forget the excitement I fealt each time they released new music.
It's sad but everything has to end eventually, and it just so happened that it was daft punk's turn.
I just hope that in hundreds of years when we're all dead, people will play their music as timeless classics, same way we do right now with Motzart or Bethoven.
Love them.
So much 'Digital Love' and 'face to Face'

I think the thing that some people don't understand about Daft Punk is that you can't listen to a song only once and expect to like it, it's very weird, but to me their music somehow just grows on you even if you don't like it.
“I’ll just keep playing back, these fragments of time. Everywhere I go, these moments will shine.”
1993-2021. I’ll miss you, daft punk.
This is easily my favourite Daft Punk song, from my favourite Daft Punk album.
I was in a fighting game a while back in which there is constant fighting and death but then I saw this one dude dancing and playing this song, he turned the entire server into one chill dance off and we were all vibing in peace for that small time
This song seems more relevant now
Is like wine, gets better pver the years
now you just want to play the fragments of time when daft punk did not break up.

Nobody is talking about this masterpiece... and it's okay... we can enjoy it in our way
Todd Edwars voice is simple amazing.
This song is awesome to jam on
This sounds like Discovery-era Daft Punk with a 70's country tinge. Love the hell out of this.
I love how you can hear Todd's classic chops in the chorus
100%
The greatest duo ever. Musical Legends. 1993 - 2021.
That would be Steely Dan but Daft Punk is not that far behind.

Arrangement wise, it's perfect. It has everything. Has these nifty little country style flourishes going on with a solid rhythm to hold it together.
The vibe of the song are for good days, the lyrics are for "those" days.
Listening to Random Access Memories now makes it feel like a farewell album made 8 years early. "But since I can't stay, I'll just keep playing back these fragments of time." It's an emotional time for all of us fans right now.
Good music transcends time, im 65 and grooving to it right now.
My love for Daft Punk is unexplainable. ♥️
Thank you but I'm not a member of the band!
Every vacation goes along with this song especially at 3:02
What a way to say goodbye, excellent Daft Punk song!!!
Feels like road trips, road trips and reunions !
Jesus bloody Christ. Time goes by fast and we don’t get enough of it. This life I hate. But Daft Punk makes it enjoyable
Daft Punk, so many of your songs are tied to the best moments of my childhood. But, those days are gone now and it is time to say goodbye. I will always play back those fragments of time, thank you so much for helping me create them.
Lol
Probably one of my favorite songs so underrated, can’t believe it didn’t blew up like get lucky or lose yourself to dance
This song is one of the most rock-influenced songs Daft Punk has ever released, and it’s still fantastic! These guys have so much skill!
Met Todd Edward’s and took a picture with him. He played a sick set, sang this for the fun of it. It was a free gig, not many came, not many knew of him
Damn. Where?
this is the chillest daft punk song imo. also i love the lyrics they remind me of the album cover "keep building these random memories" "living the gold and the silver dream"
What a crime this album was never played live.
I vividly remember going into the cd store to get this album and listening to it on my dad's stereo system, can't believe its been 10 years.
this song makes my heart smile

Just saw the announcement on IG, came rushing here to hear this beauty again
What announcement?
Let's forget how awesome Daft Punk was for a second and just focus on the melody and most importantly, the drums... This is one of my favorite songs of all time!

I'm addicted to this album, specially to this song. It flows so easily into my ears that I get myself singin it all day long, in the work, on the street, wherever I am.
I got excactly the vinyl version, which sounds just AMAZING!
This song , while driving alone to the beach , preferably a convertible

i suggest you to check out their bonus tracks where they released the process of writing this song, i was so amazed.
_If I had my way, I would never leave, living the Gold and the Silver dream._
I have listened to these guys my whole life and to watch the split up and stop making music... it hurt my soul... I'm 13 and started listening to these guys since I was 5 and never skipped a song...
This whole album is pure gold. So underrated.
+rob3451 the song yes , the album no
It is a great album but it is made of vinyl, not gold. ;^)
When I first heard this song, it made me nostalgic for years before. Now that I listen to it, it reminds me of the years in which this album came out. Time does fly, but I'll just keep playing back these Fragments of Time.
Goodbye, thanks for everything!
The drummer of Random Access Memories is called Omar Hakim. He doesnt get the attention he deserves, absolutely brilliant stuff on all of Daft Punk's songs of the album
This is song is my "happiest place" and my "saddest place".
It means a lot to me
My fave daft punk song
"The making of..." track is awesome! But, nothing will change how much I miss this duo.
Bro I high key needed this today. Thank you. Daft Punk will always be in my heart, even though all my daft friends are dead.
Lol
After being a fan of daft punk for like 5 years I gave this album a shot only after the retirement announcement. (I knew all the songs but most of them I'd only listened to once or something)
This piece right here. This is one of the best daft punk songs for sure. I regret not giving it a chance way sooner, so many beautiful songs on this album. And this one tops them all imo.
This hits better than 2-4 years ago. Thank you Daft Punk
for some reason this album gives me the same feeling i had when i first listened to pink floyds dark side of the moon. I'll take it
This album is like if you put Pink Floyd, Earth, Wind & Fire and Kraftwerk in a rocketship and let it fly into the orbit.
