Awesome video and packed with info!! I’m a 64 year old retired nurse who recently came into the hobby. For years I’ve been interested in tarantulas and finally took the plunge in January. All of my T’s are from Fear Not Tarantulas. They are closest to me and boy do they deliver. I watched tons on videos and did so much research beforehand. Your videos are why I finally took the plunge. I currently have 8 and they are all doing well. From getting them as tiny slings to seeing them molt still amazes me. I’ve also found a rescue who would take them in case of my demise. Thank you for providing such helpful videos. 🤗
Hello, Gail...welcome to the hobby! That's awesome! I do a lot of work with Fear Not, and I've known Tanya (the owner) for years. They are good poeple. I'm so glad to hear that things are going well for you! Thank you!
I gotta say Tom, it’s very reassuring to watch you have a sling climb your arm. It makes me feel better about my own mishaps. I wish o would have seen this video before I rehoused my D. rufonigers and my E. cyanognathus. One I almost smushed trying to put my hand in front of it. And the other one bolted when I had the enclosure in my hands and I threw it. Thankfully the spider was fine (hiding under a purse that was next to me) and I was able to catch cup it and get it back safely. Both of those incidents put the fear of god in me. I’ve rehoused in a big tub since then. Jumping spiders were way easier and I got lulled into a false sense of security. Thanks again as always to both you and Billie. I used to watch some of the showier, flashier T channels. But you are my go to now and I always appreciate you knowledge, sense of humor, patience and kindness. And it’s really sweet hearing you and Billie bantering and joking. No response needed - you are a busy guy. Just want to say thanks as usual. Love the videos and the podcasts. Congrats on your new spiders and happy belated Father’s Day!
Hey, it happens to all of us! I definitely should have been more careful, though. Trust me; I've had my fair share of screw ups over the years, especially early on. I'm glad that your bad experiences didn't end too badly. The best thing that we can do is to learn from them. :) And thank you so much for the very kind words. We know that we're not the flashiest or the most fun, but we have a firm sense of purpose in what we are trying to accomplish. I love to hear when people recognize and appreciate that! Thanks again!!!

Billie you're amazing. Tom I have a question for you; what would you do in an EQ? I am terrified of spiders, and as a result, think of all kinds of scenarios.
I want to make a fearnottarantulas order so bad, but it is so hot here that i don't want to risk it. September is only a few months away...😢 (average daytime temp is 95, heat index is like 105-115)
Do you have a local FedEx that you could pick them up at? They can ship to those. That said, I always wait when it's too hot or cold, just in case, so I get it!
@TomsBigSpiders unfortunately my local FedEx is still an hour away. I don't mind waiting a little longer. I have a lot going on this summer anyway. Found a way to make my art better, so all my focus is on that. Thanks for the responses.
Recently listened to your episode on pest control with Billie where you mentioned spraying bio mist for mosquito control. My neighborhood is apparently spraying DUET adulticide TONIGHT. Can you ask Billie if I should be more concerned or if it’s the same as bio mist?? Thanks!!
Hi, Leah! I think that I might have responded to this elsewhere, but just in case: she said to keep your windows shut and to turn off AC units while they are spraying. She said that it should be okay to turn the ACs back on an hour or so after they are done spraying. Hope that helps!
Well, that's quite the gift for Father's Day! P.S.: Every time a sling takes a walk around your arm I feel the obligation to ask for an update on the Heteropoda sp. juvies.
Thanks so much, bud! Hahahaha Yeah...that rehouse was fun! The largest one, which is around 6", is getting ready to molt again. The other, who is smaller at around 4" or so, is still eating. They are growing a little more slowly than I would have expected, but they are still getting pretty big!

All your spiders are gorgeous! I adore the curtain webs but I'm not there yet, maybe one day! Keep up the awesome work :)

Lol my Lasiodora parahybana ran up my arm when I opened the vial … my wife was videoing 😂😂 it was tiny sling lol 😂
Did she help bail you out like Billie did for me? hahaha
@@TomsBigSpiders yes she handed me a vial to catch it lmao 🤣
@@clnfreakone8486 Hahaha Fantastic!
Billie you're amazing. Tom I have a question for you; what would you do in an EQ? I am terrified of spiders, and as a result, think of all kinds of scenarios.
She sure is, Shirley! And at risk of sounding ignorant, what is an EQ? I'll keep a lookout for your reply and answer then!
earthquake maybe???
Thinking of getting one of thoes Orphanaceous Marinduque! Nice to see they fast asf😂
That little booger just had to make me look bad. haha :)
consider yourself lucky because I almost bought that oiapoqueae haha Happy belated Father's Day!
I certainly do! Thank you for letting me have her. haha
@@omnist7903 Oh, the heck with that. haha Yeah, I don't blame you one bit! :)
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Thanks, Candy!
What moss do you use Tom? It's so green and pretty.

Happy Father’s Day! Not my present of choice, but good for you!
Haha Thanks so much!
Tom, I think you're going to have to name one of those P. emeraldus Esmeralda now... :)
That's a really good idea! hahaha
You should definitely try to get mantis at some point
I definitely will, Kevin. :)
How long did the oapoquae live ?
Close to 3 years. Still, I was expecting her to live longer. That said, she was HUGE when she died, so maybe it really was the end of her lifecycle.
19:12 Hewp! lol!
I meant to do that, Bryan. Bahahahaha Yup...derp!
Officially calling spinnerets "butt fingers" from now on!
Hahaha Thanks, Michael!
"Buttfingers" HAhahahahahahaha
Hahaha

Thanks!
Butt fingers sounds like a punk band
It totally does, Cody!
Them curtain web spiders, people are calling them funnel Web 🕸, Japanese and Colombian funnel Webs
I usually refer to them as curtain webs myself.
