There were supposed to be x/y sequels but gamefreak scrapped them halfway through development after sales came back for b/w2 which i believe at the time was the worst selling mainline pokemon and gamefreak didn't want another financial risk
@@TheSorkanist That’s kind of a petty reason to stop developing the sequels. B2W2 still sold over 8 million copies which is something that not a lot games can say they did. Time cramp could also be a part of why they scrapped it, but I feel like they could’ve also wanted to get the higher profit route to just scrap development and onto remakes, and new gens.
For anyone wonders why Team Flare was so weird, there were new leaks that the whole story was re-written late in development because "It was too weird for kids" apparently. The leaks said that team flare was supposed to be aliens that come from space and take the form of humans (explaining their pale skin and weird outfits) trying to fit in and accomplish the goal. AZ was one of these aliens (descendant of Lysandre) who came down to destroy earth with the ultimate weapon, but met floette and had a change of heart. Due to that story being scrapped late in development they had to write an entire new story explaining how it felt rushed. I personally think that the Ultra Recon Squad from the Ultra Sun/Moon games was almost like the original Team Flare story but instead of evil they were good.
Okay but they were right about original Team Flare. That would have been jumping the shark a bit. Granted, I still think that this Team Flare is tied for second worst evil team with only Macro Cosmos being worse. I mean, Team Plasma was always going to be a tough act to follow but I feel like the literal death cult was somehow too much and not explored enough at the same time.
Remember if it was your first Pokémon game/anime it will always have a special place in your heart no matter how much everyone else hates it because that’s how nostalgia works
You are 100% right, however I recoil at the current state of the franchise but even though it was a short time in my life I’m glad I grew up with this.
@@jorgeperez2872Although it's a matter of taste, the music in Pokemon was always loved by the fans regardless of the gen, that's like the only thing that never got bad no matter the state of the games, so he's mostly speaking of the state of the franchise gameplay wise and technical wise, not the music
I love gen 6 music, IMO gen 7 probably have the worst music in comparison to the rest of the gens, I'm in no way saying gen 7 music is bad but compared to other gen I think it's the gen with the weakest music. But Ultra Necrozma theme goes so hard I love the funeral March vibes it gives me.
@@richardmorgan3665 i can agree. I think a lot of Gen 7's route music wasn't distinct enough with melodies, nor were their towns. But I do think that Hau's and the Kahuna's themes are boppin
@@piratenerdz1602 Hau and the Kahuna theme is alright to me nothing special. I do think gen 8 and 5 have some of the best music in Pokemon. Those tracks goes hard like the Battle Tower in swsh, the Galarian birds, Zacian and Zamazenta theme (which uses wolves as an instrument and it's still a banger), emotions (which is the name if the track in black and white after beating N), Driftveil City, the freaking low health music.
In Kalos there are so few places where the camera angles through the scenery to the background, and with epic music one looks down as if it was a great adventure to come. Those were my favourite moments in Pokémon Y, the music is so powerful
Indeed, even tough i played pokémon ruby first, it was in an emulator, but pokémon Y was different, it was my first pokémon game that i played in a legit way, i renember the wonders of exploring the corners of kalos, also funny thing, the only game that i managed to complete 100% national dex was actually pokemon Y
My first was Platinum, still my favourite game in the franchise (extremely biased) Have good memories from all Pokemon games I’ve played, never played any past gen 7 however.
In my opinion, Lysandre has the best theme no matter what. The violin in the start, the chimes and guitar after, and the piano are all really good, they give me goosebumps everytime I listen to it. The song hits harder than a truck from an Isekai.
I had a pokémon y save file where I named my shiny yveltal because I had a cheat device I threw away my old Adele and used the shiny one and I called it bacon Lord
I loved the Megas and hoping for an extension to them with Z-Crystals but no we got weird dance class and No Gyms, then he got 'Supersize Me' but Pokemon Edition
It's actually really fitting that there are some upbeat disco tunes, especially in the battles: the disco culture in france is actually really big (or at least used to be) and it's nice to see this in a French region
Here's a hot take I think blue's/trace's let's go theme, diantha's and iris' themes are the best champion themes Those guitars in trace's are just perfect
@@LetMeSoloThemER Don't you think that's a bit harsh? Huge fan of Blue's theme and Cynthia's themes, but Diantha's fits her battle just as much as anyone else's imo. Sure she's probably the easiest Champ in the series, but her theme fits the battle and the mood perfectly. It's not meant to be as intense and gut-wrenching as much as other Champion battles. It's not the kind of Character Diantha was supposed to be; she's an actor, nostalgic of the days in her prime. I think her battle theme does a great job encompassing that aspect of her and I hope you rethink your opinion on it :)

Only issues with this game was the difficulty (or lack there of) an the lack of new mons. Everything else? Perfection. Two of, if not the most criminally underrated titles in the franchise
Nha, the villians were also pretty....mhe Not bad, but, not good, also Lyssandre is freacking disappointing Appart of that, yeah, 6 Gen IS surelly very underrated, but I think the hate of the 5 gen in his moment was even greater
xy are so easy that my first ever experience with pokemon was beating the league on my sisters profile had no idea how to play, just spammed moonblast with xerneas
I haven't heard some of this music in 9 years. Hearing the Lumious City theme again honestly brought me to tears. I know some have gripes with these games, but they'll always mean something special to me. Thank you for making this.
Yea like I mean you want the games to be player friendly but seriously 3 mom gym leaders and only have like 2 or 3 trainers outside of post game that can use megas you know... the main gimmick of this game
Well, one was a rival, one was the airhead love interest, and the other two were tagalongs. (Although Tierno was kind of badass in the anime. No one could friggin' beat him.)
It's sad that the rivals were given hate but I liked the simple concept for each of them. They're not all dark and edgy or anything and yes they may not have the coolest of backstories, but sometimes it's good to have a more simpler and relaxing time which is what I feel XY was made for. To give younger fans a more simpler experience to the game as it's a bit easier to understand the mechanics. Unlike when I first played my first Pokemon games being BW2 which had a story that was really major and deep and complex, harder difficulty for the EXP system, and just overall more confusing, I just thought that XY gave me the chance to understand more of the game. Yes I bought the book with post game stuff, some tutorials, and type matchups, but things like that and the simpler structure of the game was easier for me to understand as when I was just a child when it first released and yes sometimes games can be too easy and a difficulty option would be nice but having an overall more relaxing adventure can be fun for everyone.
I don't really care for the lack of difficulty, I just feel like there wasn't enough in the way of exploration and the post game. I know pokemon xy by heart and need more Kalos content
Hell. To. The. Yeah. Every time I watch a Kalos game, my first thought is always "I need to play that again." Kalos was my first journey through a Pokemon region (even though I remember watching some of the Unova anime) and Greninja has quickly become one of my favorite Pokemon. It used to be number one, but now it's at a close second to Altaria. TL;DR: I love Kalos.
Hot take, gen 6 did practically everything right with the exception of difficulty great music great region design great pokemon design great battle gimmick great old/new pokemon balance
@@noahmugan354 I agree with all of this so much. The region is one of the most memorable for me and all of the new Pokémon and mega designs are also some of my favorites in the whole series, the story is really solid (no idea why people say it’s generic, villains gym leaders were all great) also The character designs for the humans are some of my favorites in the whole series but that could also be because I absolutely love the 2D handrawn art for them in this game which is something the newer games don’t do anymore and I miss it
@@noahmugan354 Yeah, it's kinda weird how I just see everyone complaining abt the EXP-Share, like just turn it off if you don't like it? I'm so confused why is it destroying the game you can literally just turn it off-
Gen 6 is nostalgic even for a unovababe like me, but it's mid (as far as Pokémon games go). I will say that the PSS interface was seamless and XY found solid gimmick features in Amie / mega evolution. It also pioneered trainer customization / fairy types, which should be acknowledged.
It’s really been almost 8 years... Honestly I think my nostalgia for these games has made it hard for me to dislike them. I remember being so obsessed with them when they came out and talking to my best friends at the time about all the fun times we were having. Those were the days.
I remember playing X and spending hours skating around Dendemille just so I could vibe to the music. Here before Gen 6 finally gets the appreciation it deserves.
Finally gen 6 gets noticed. It had an amazing soundtrack and was overall what was the first game to get me into the series. I did play the games before, but x and y really got me into learning more and not just playing the games. I swear these games had me hooked no matter how easy they were. Also you forgot the friendship theme and the rival theme, those slap hard. Also I never got to the looker postgame parts either, I heard it was a great postgame story. What is it about? Edit: just played the postgame and oh my god its amazing. My only problem is that there isn't a reward for completing it. I do not count the friends we made along the way.
Don't exactly remember. Some girl that ends up getting involved with Xerosic (Flare's professor) and eventually ends up working as Looker's assistant or something after you settle everything.
I remember playing gen 6 when i entered high school, my life was so simple then... then i turned 22, and everything is so complicated but, here i am, keeping up
Sometimes when I feel like I'm the only gen 6 Stan (it's my favourite Pokémon game 1s it was my first and it played such a huge part in me childhood love of video games) I come to this video to see that others still appreciate it. I legit cried at the post main story sidequest, I have never cried that much at a Pokémon game (outside of at the end of Pokémon X of course. I keep forgetting how gorgeous this games music is
Man just imagine Pokémon X and Pokémon Y in my opinion were some of the best game freak put out their with the story and plot, But it’s a damn shame the sequels were abandoned when game freak saw the reviews on B2/W2 I wish they when on and finished the game but sadly they never did now all we have to now is just wait on the remakes which will happen in 10 years... I’m 17 about to turn 18 in September so in 10 years I’ll be 28 🥺😭...
Yeah, Y was my first game, and when i beat the champion, right as i was leaving the building My 3ds kinda hit a wall and broke. Luckily i ordered one earlier, so i'm gonna play it soon. Update: got the 3ds a while ago and played through ML:DT. Felt good. Might order Pokemon Y later. Idk
There's things I like about xy the city designs The music The region itself Megas But the thing that holds it back are the evil team and the difficulty imo.
Actually Team flare was good coming from a GenFiver. The post game when they went bat shit crazy & literally made Emma a Cyborg to terrorize the city & as insane as Plasma Freezing the city. Flare is my 2nd fave evil team imo.
That, and admittedly the instability of the region itself. Too many times the game tried to crash on me during the middle of battles because of double battles slowing to how detailed the fights were. I had to hard learn to save every route after, I usually did it every gym beforehand cause it was more convenient
@@tsyumamatsuthehavenofguard32 ah yes, speaking of that. One time, my game permanently crashed when I've activated it. Dw, I've completed the main story, but there was a problem: I was in Lumiose City, but I couldn't do anything! I couldn't even turn off the console! Ah, I forgot to tell this: the total of hours I played was 180! I thought that was the problem. Don't worry, I've luckily managed to delete my corrupted save data. Yeah, I had to re-do everything from scratch, but at least I didn't have to deal with that problem anymore. Btw sorry for the long comment and my bad english 0_0
That probably cause of the places gen 5 and gen 6 were based on (NYC and France respectively), and they tried to copy music styles from both. France has a lot of electronic music (Daft Punk comes to mind)
For those who see this message, xerneas and yveltal shall debut in pokemon master EX in 4 more days, and another version of professor sycamore ost will feature.
The bike music is single-handedly the track i think i heard the most in the game because of Gen 6's accessibility to many things activating my love for breeding pokemon. For shinies, competitive, or just to make a strong-ass mon for the Battle Maison. it is a bop.
I know I'm late, but I love to see appreciation for X and Y in any form. Especially Looker's little side story, it's amazing and burns me all these years later. There's not a point in time where I wouldn't cry over it.
The only reason people have for hating gen 6 its that is too easy. I kinda agre, but that really is its only real flaw. Gen 6 gave us: Player customization 3d graphics A new type to balance the OP dragon Great Music great overworld design Id argue that besides gens 1 and 2 is the gen with the most consistenly good pokemon designs Fixed the disgusting weather wars of gen 5 and goddamn megaevolution, a mechanic so popular people are still asking for new megas on the daily. Really if the had just jacked up the levels of the npcs in the main story a lil bit they would be close to perfect.
That's just Pokemon games doe... One thing I'll agree to make it more bare able is keeping you from using legendarys during elite four or catch it later on
@@usmanchughtai1751 I absolutely agree. X and y without exp share is the perfect game to start for a nuzlocke. Oras without the exp share is actually super difficult as well.
And so it begins again... fans of the games from a couple gens back defend it as "the black sheep" of the series, and will eventually be EATIN' GOOD and at the forefront of the community, as Sun/Moon players defend Gen 7 as "the black sheep". This community never ceases to amaze, it's like clockwork. All that being said, hell yeah, let's rep X and Y all the way!!
I won't lie, I know people were dead set on Sinnoh but a small part of me really wanted to see Kalos... because it was my first gen and I still hold it in my heart. although looking back I recognise the missed opportunities they could have used for it, like Diancie and the Sundial, or Volcanion and the power plant, or what those mysterious notes were about. I want it to kind of get the ORAS treatment with a revamp and a postgame like Delta.
@@dhampir_days To see Kalos you will have to wait a long time. After Sinnoh remakes they are definitely going to remake Unova with also a Pokémon Legends Kyurem and after that MAYBE a Kalos remake (tbh, I think it needs a reboot, not a remake)
@@santihjusto I think if they do a Kalos remake it would be interesting (yet very unlikely) to have it be one game called Pokemon Z or Pokemon XYZ where Zyarde is the primary Legendary the story focuses on with Xerneas and Yvetal playing secondary roles similar to what Latias and Latios do in ORAS, where you can get one during the story section and the other afterwards (although since in thd context of this being a solo release it'd be a decision.) On the topic of decisions, if it was one game it could combine the alternatives of what would be XZ or XY into one. Like with Xerneas and Yvetal example you'd get stuck with whatever you chose in that point and it'd alter the story depending which of the two paths you choose in bits Another example: A choice between Charizard X or Y (if you chose Charizard out of the three Kanto starters from Sycamore) before getting Xerneas/Yvetal. If you get Yvetal, Scyamore suggests Charizardite Y as the first option, but you can choose Charizardite X (vice versa with Xerneas and Charizardite X) It'll sprinkle those choices throughout the game, allowing you to obtain the alternate decision later on through manually searching rather than the Story handing it to you. Example the Third: Mewtwo Upon catching Mewtwo you could choose between two "Sparkling stones at the back of the cave". You can take Mewtwonite X or Y and get the other one later on from 8PM-9PM like how it works in XY originally. Alternatively: you could choose Mewtwonite X before the Mewtwo fight and Mewtwo will drop down to fight you, but will have a mix of Psychic and Fighting moves. If you chooses Mewtwonite Y then Mewtwo drops down without any fighting moves (Charizard would probably work similarly) However at the end of the day, Gamefreak would never release a mainstream Pokemon Game with only One Version (Mainstream being RGBY, XY, RSE, BW, Etc)
It’s a great Gen with great characters and lots of great elements like they seriously drew unique 2D trainer portraits for every single npc that’s amazing and no game has done it since. That just do still frames of the 2D models now
Every damn soundtrack from Pokémon hits hard, honestly it's the saving grace of each game in the franchise. One thing you can always promise with a Pokémon game is the soundtrack will be AMAZING.

There were supposed to be x/y sequels but gamefreak scrapped them halfway through development after sales came back for b/w2 which i believe at the time was the worst selling mainline pokemon and gamefreak didn't want another financial risk
I’m so glad that x y and z gave zygarde the respect it deserved
😮
No wonder their Theme sounds so alien like
That story sounds amazing !

I've always loved how XY gave us a whole GROUP of friends/rivals, not just one like most other games. i wish game freak would do that again

@@duykhangtran4406 FEAR THE DEER
it's already been 4 days here now in my area
Damn right, ma boi Sycamore has life deer while Redhead Genocide Master has Death Bird
As soon as snowbelle city theme hit, my heart ached with nostalgia, this was the first pokemon game I played and was the reason I love it
I forgot Lysandre shows up in a Doc Ock outfit at the end
A suit with mechaflies
The bike music is single-handedly the track i think i heard the most in the game because of Gen 6's accessibility to many things activating my love for breeding pokemon. For shinies, competitive, or just to make a strong-ass mon for the Battle Maison. it is a bop.
"Can we have Gen 4 Music Hits Real Hard?"
"We have G4MHRH at home"
G4MHRH at home: 6:03
lysandres battle theme is GAS and it deserves recognition fr THANK U
Diantha's theme is literally perfection
The only song in this game that's better is Friend Safari
I know I'm late, but I love to see appreciation for X and Y in any form. Especially Looker's little side story, it's amazing and burns me all these years later. There's not a point in time where I wouldn't cry over it.
The only reason people have for hating gen 6 its that is too easy. I kinda agre, but that really is its only real flaw. Gen 6 gave us:
Player customization
3d graphics
A new type to balance the OP dragon
Great Music
great overworld design
Id argue that besides gens 1 and 2 is the gen with the most consistenly good pokemon designs
Fixed the disgusting weather wars of gen 5
and goddamn megaevolution, a mechanic so popular people are still asking for new megas on the daily.
Really if the had just jacked up the levels of the npcs in the main story a lil bit they would be close to perfect.
That's just Pokemon games doe... One thing I'll agree to make it more bare able is keeping you from using legendarys during elite four or catch it later on
That’s a really stupid complaint. If you want a real challenge, just turn off the exp share in the beginning. The difficulty ramps up
@@usmanchughtai1751 I absolutely agree. X and y without exp share is the perfect game to start for a nuzlocke. Oras without the exp share is actually super difficult as well.
There are, however, a lot of very large and unjustifiable plot holes, motivated by the absence of a sequel.
All that being said, hell yeah, let's rep X and Y all the way!!
when Gen 6 gets its recognition, this will definitely blow up
I won't lie, I know people were dead set on Sinnoh but a small part of me really wanted to see Kalos... because it was my first gen and I still hold it in my heart. although looking back I recognise the missed opportunities they could have used for it, like Diancie and the Sundial, or Volcanion and the power plant, or what those mysterious notes were about.
@@santihjusto I think if they do a Kalos remake it would be interesting (yet very unlikely) to have it be one game called Pokemon Z or Pokemon XYZ where Zyarde is the primary Legendary the story focuses on with Xerneas and Yvetal playing secondary roles similar to what Latias and Latios do in ORAS, where you can get one during the story section and the other afterwards (although since in thd context of this being a solo release it'd be a decision.)
On the topic of decisions, if it was one game it could combine the alternatives of what would be XZ or XY into one. Like with Xerneas and Yvetal example you'd get stuck with whatever you chose in that point and it'd alter the story depending which of the two paths you choose in bits
Another example: A choice between Charizard X or Y (if you chose Charizard out of the three Kanto starters from Sycamore) before getting Xerneas/Yvetal.
If you get Yvetal, Scyamore suggests Charizardite Y as the first option, but you can choose Charizardite X (vice versa with Xerneas and Charizardite X)
It'll sprinkle those choices throughout the game, allowing you to obtain the alternate decision later on through manually searching rather than the Story handing it to you.
Example the Third: Mewtwo
Upon catching Mewtwo you could choose between two "Sparkling stones at the back of the cave".
If you chooses Mewtwonite Y then Mewtwo drops down without any fighting moves (Charizard would probably work similarly)
However at the end of the day, Gamefreak would never release a mainstream Pokemon Game with only One Version (Mainstream being RGBY, XY, RSE, BW, Etc)
It’s a great Gen with great characters and lots of great elements like they seriously drew unique 2D trainer portraits for every single npc that’s amazing and no game has done it since. That just do still frames of the 2D models now
The future is today
Every damn soundtrack from Pokémon hits hard, honestly it's the saving grace of each game in the franchise. One thing you can always promise with a Pokémon game is the soundtrack will be AMAZING.
except gen 8..
@@MrAgux Even the Gen 8 soundtrack is great in places, the only good part about that game lol
@@Wackaz C'mon it doesn't hold a candle compared to the other gens soundtrack. Even gen 7, which I'm not a fan off, has some great music
