So so many facets to the Doors, they were truly one of the most mysterious bands ever. Such incredible music they produced.

The Doors. Ain't never gonna be another band like them. Ever.

Makes me wonder why I didn't come equipped with an internal voice who would have said in '67, "stop what you're doing and go directly to the nearest/earliest Doors concert. Don't think about it, just go." :)

John Sebastian plays harmonica on this track. Uncredited due to label conflicts. Sebastian was the leader of The Lovin' Spoonful and, as a solo, had a huge hit with "Welcome Back," the theme to the TV show, "Welcome Back, Kotter." Lonnie Mack (!) plays bass. Apparently, Mack actually played a few concerts with the band, taking some lead guitar parts from Robby Krieger. It seems Morrison and Krieger weren't happy campers at this point in 1970.

I never knew it was the great John Sebastian on Harmonica.

Thank you for acknowledging Lonnie Mack playing bass on this song. ❤Very underrated guitarist. He was married to my cousin and from same area. He buried in the same cemetery with my dad. Visit Lonnie grave all the time😢

In my top 5 driving songs of all time. Keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel was always a little reminder when this rocker came on the radio. Morrison Hotel is a close second to LA Women as their all time greatest work.
Thank you to whoever requested this. Hopefully Peace Frog is next

For those of us who were more than casually into The Doors, the things that he did on stage just made us love them more. They were standing up to authority and putting it in their faces. We would have been screwed had we tried the same. Most cops etc. (not all) were not so fond of longhaired hippies, and what they perceived as they're chaos and disorder. The Doors were so high profile any consequnes were usually minimal, like other bands. Jim played the system to get his messages through. Back then your music could be banned from the airwaves and your songs censored for broadcast by the powers that be. Records were pulled from the shelves. It was a thing, The Doors and many others had to walk a tightrope, Jim decided to kick the door down.

The Doors are hot stuff! The 1st song I heard by them was "Touch Me," and it became my favorite. Also, "Love Her Madly" sends me flyin high!
    Happy New Year, Shawn! ✌️🎶

Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek were students at UCLA . Ray a musician and Jim a poet met by chance at a California beach . Ray looked at Jim's poetry and told him that he could put his poetry to music .

For some weird reason I haven't figured out yet, I haven't heard this song for quite a while. I forgot how excellent it is, and it requires more frequent listens. I have heard a real good live version where a P.R. guy is saying "Ladies and Gentlemen, From Los Angeles, California, The Doors", and then they burst into "Roadhouse Blues". As energetic as anything you have ever heard.

I don't know about the charts, but I can promise you it was on the radio a lot. And it's a fan favorite.
Don't You Love Her Madly was a hit and it's one of my favorite songs by The Doors. It's kind of whimsical and it just really grooves.

Excellent reaction!!! Love the Doors! I’ve always wished someone would react to their song “Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar)” Hopefully that will happen at some point! We love your reactions Shawn! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Please check out John Sebastian with Lovin Spoonful! Another unique & talented group!

One of my top Doors favorites and has a couple of my favorite lyrics too. "Woke up this morning and got myself a beer," and "the future is uncertain and the end is always near"

I used to sing and play harmonica on this one in my 1990s pub band. Always a great encore number. The audience was always on its feet. I love it.

The Roadhouse in this song was a real place that The Doors and other California Rock Bands would hand out. Sadly, it burned down.
Jim had a bungalow out back of the club. It's a Banger of a tune.

When I was younger I did some Roadie work for a few cover bands and one of them performed this song always getting the crowd going. During the first couple practices while learning it (by ear) the singer had a little trouble with the lyrics. Being too cheap to buy sheet music and not having any internet back then, he asked me to transcribe it. Not too difficult with some odd phrasing here and there. Except for the scat. That was a lost cause and I just wrote "rhythmic gibberish"

This is a great song. They should’ve done some more straight blues. “Back Door Man” is a highlight from their 1st album. Lonnie Mack was a total guitar innovator who happened to be signed to Elektra then and be on hand to play the bass. His instrumentals “Wham!” and “Memphis” redefined what the electric guitar could do. “Wham!” was famously the first record Stevie Ray Vaughan ever bought, and he played it over and over, trying to learn it, until his dad couldn’t stand it anymore and broke it. You can see him cover it at El Mocambo. Jimmie Vaughan (brother) met Lonnie and sent him to see Stevie, who was playing “Wham!” as he walked in the door. Stevie co-produced his comeback album in ‘85 and supported the promotional tour, playing sometimes.

I recommend you have a look at the video of Ray Manzarek, the musical genius, talking thru how they worked out the arrangement of Riders On The Storm. Brilliant stuff.

This sing used to be the penultimate song to close the bar I frequented in my youth, to be followed by Sinatra singin New York , New York. Break on Through is another Doors fave of mine. Great selection!

Back in 1972 in San Francisco, my brother would get up at like 6 A.M. and blast this throughout the flat. I always took it to mean "today is gonna be the BIGGEST party day you've seen yet..." And yes, it always turned out that way. Every. Stinking. Time. LMFAO!
