I may have moved away from Trails content, but it was never because I fell out of love with the series. And Kuro no Kiseki reaffirms a love for Trails that will never die out. Footage is limited mostly to the Prologue of Kuro, nothing specific to the plot.
Is the connect event like trials where a certain someone was pined as the main heroine or is this game the type where the main heroine is the one you choose to interact with?
TKN, you always do an amazing job not giving too much away with these "yet-to-be-localized" games, while still giving just enough to entice fans. Based on your description, I'll definitely be looking forward to Van as a protagonist and the strong group relationships akin to the SSS. And I'll personally be on the lookout for any NPCs that were visitors from Calvard in previous games, just to see if there's continuity there haha. Nice hearing your spoiler-free thoughts on this game! But as for me, back to the Reverie waiting room I go!
@@ayatok4870 I honestly am just not in a rush to play these games. I'm willing to wait to have the entire game (menus, text, and all NPC dialogue and all) completely localized.
@@LadyVirgilia same here. What close to matters most to me is having an english voice line. I really can't stand the massively exaggerated voices of japanese dub. And how Characters are often chosen. 10 year old boys have the voice of a 80 year old grandpa who was smoking 3 packs of cigarrettes every day while 40 year old women still sound like higher pitched little girls.... im sure there is a bit of cultural bias but I only hear people talking that way in movies and games.
I'm so hyped for this game, after seeing your content I started playing cold steel 1 to 4 and currently playing trails in the sky 1. Now my favourite JRPG series. Waiting for the Western release of Kuro no Kiseki. Thanks for the amazing content!
I'm glad the channel introduced someone else to the series! Probably the best time to get involved as well as Crossbell is effectively getting 'band-aided' and from there, I'd like to think we'll eventually catch up.
I really want to play this series but I only have a Switch and it only has the last 2 games currently. I am very hesitant to start Trails of Cold of Steel 3 and 4 without playing/experiencing the previous games. From the start, I did not expect this series is soo spread out on different platforms and Im quite mad about it since the Switch has only 2 and both are sequels. I'm lucky that my laptop is capable to run the older titles. Can you guys recommend me which trails game should I start?
@@onelasada1707 always in order, trails of sky 1 then 2.. same thing with cold steel. azure and zero is a spin off between their arcs but leave that cause there's no oficial localization for us, maybe with mods but didn't tested yet
I finished Kuro no Kiseki about a week ago and I absolutely loved it, I'd say Van is at least a second fav protagonist now after Estelle and overtaking Kevin and the game would be my 3rd fav right below Sky SC and Ao no Kiseki and overtaking Cold Steel IV. My one favorite aspect of Kuro no Kiseki tho is below (in case this may be seen as a spoiler by some from an overall narrative perspective) . . . . . They really didn't shy away from deaths. The whole Cold Steel Arc felt scared of getting rid of any character if they had even just a tiny bit of relevance in the plot and going back on those that we were made to believe had died. Going into Kuro and seeing character deaths actually happen as much as it did gave an actual sense of threat to the game. Especially that one event...holy shit I felt so terrible for that one kid I think that fucked me up all the way until the end of the game I was still thinking about it.
Hearing that the Kuro cast reminds you of the SSS and their comraderie is like the highest praise and has me instantly interested. The cold steel characters are nice but like, the cast is so big that that part that I adored about the crossbells was gone
I am absolutely loving Kuro! And I completely agree - it is so refreshing to go back to having a small team of characters that you can get to know really well. The cast of the Cold Steel saga was so big that it felt a bit unmanageable for me. I also think you were absolutely spot on when you compared Van to Vesperia's Yuri. This game is definitely more mature than previous games and I think it is all the better for it! I personally don't mind the OST - there are a few tracks in there that I am quite enjoying, but I know there are lots of people who share your opinion
I'm on chapter 4 of the western release of this title, and this game has so much love for the Liberl cast at points. Zin definitely deserves the trophy for most improved what compared to his original debut. There was nothing in the first trilogy that gave the impression that he has connections underground, so seeing him in his own element was such a treat. He definitely has that big brother energy that was missing from his time in Liberl and I love it
Finally managed to play the demo for this and fell in love! Feels like the big step forward we wanted after playing nearly a dozen games that felt all the same!
Played cold steel 1, 2 then in cold steel 3 I kept going back to the wiki just to read some background on the new characters being introduced, I then decided to give the older games a go and now I'm completely hooked and fully invested, Loving the new aesthetic and excited to see the new cast given new ways to express emotions, gotta admit though I grew a liking to the emoticons on the sky and crossbell games lol
Glad to see the quality is still there. A bit worried about the OST nontheless, being one of Trails best aspect. *Meanwhile, in the Hajimari waiting room* ........
It seems like Falcom listened to the fans and made changes based on that, which I love. I am very excited for this game, it look AMAZING! Good work and thank you for keeping us up to date on all things Kiseki :)
I really enjoyed my playthrough of Kuro and am also super hyped for Crimson Sin. The future of trails continues to look bright (other than the whole slow localization thing).
Still slowly working my way through Kuro with the spreadsheet (currently almost done with Ch. 3) and this game has just been a blast. I feel like the team learned a lot from the shortcomings of Cold Steel, even if there are some little issues that could use some ironing out with the new systems. I love the cast to death, the story is pretty gripping even as early as I am, and this feels like a return to form, even coming from somebody who likes CS a great deal. I hate how far away the official localization for this game likely will be, but luckily the spreadsheet program makes this process as painless as is realistically possible.
@@vincenthammons6705 I’m using the translation spreadsheet. A group of fans, Zero Field, worked hard since the game came out to translate it. You just use a Japanese copy of the game and either follow along with the spreadsheet itself or cast your game footage to your pc and run a program that overlays the translation above the game. It’s how most of us non-Japanese-speakers have been playing the game, Kiseki Nut included.
That's really cool that we have that spreadsheet though personally I'd have to wait for localization for many reasons. 2 of em being just thee amount of games I have, having to play Zero/Azure when those are officially localized (When I went to get around to playing the fan translation by Geofront I had installed on my PC, the announcements happened and I figured I'd wait for those on Switch) and honestly I probably won't get around to it for a while. I have to admit I'm excited to see the shortcomings of CS fixed in Kuro and that's because while I liked Cold Steel I feel Sky and the bit of Zero I played were more tolerable in many ways. But I don't want to be here forever typing it out so we'll see I guess!
not sure what these shortcomings in cold steel are everyone is talking about, i think they're amazing. yeah i'm not a fan of the exploit shit, which is why i don't use them. i see people on youtube playing them on hard only to exploit it by exploiting it to where most bosses won't even get a turn. how fkn corny can people get? if you want the game to be easy just set it to easy, instead of using immersion breaking tactics like that. i do like the sky games a little better than cold steel, but that's mostly due to the characters. i like the characters in cold steel a lot, but no characters will ever quite match up to estelle and joshua for me. the gameplay feels pretty much identical, but that's because i always use the same basic tactics. i use attacks and crafts, with the occasional art or item for healing. i play them on hard mode and most of the bosses are quite challenging, fun, and satisfying when i beat them playing that way. i recently finished cs2 and the final boss took me 5 or 6 attempts and i just barely pulled it off on that successful attempt. i kinda get the feeling 3 is designed around some of those stupid exploits a bit, because many of the bosses and even the normal enemy encounters feel significantly more challenging than in the first 2 games. i like the challenge, i'm just a bit concerned that some of the later boss fights are going to require the use of some of these exploits to get through. i'm about a third of the way through and there have been quite a few boss fights that i was just barely able to get through. hopefully i'll be able to scrape through the game without using those stupid exploits as i always have.
I'm excited for this game but tbh its gonna be hard to move on from rean and class 7 imma miss them a hell of alot even if we see them like we saw other from other games it won't be enough for me cause imma wanna see them alot more. Keep in mind cold steel was my first game and all 3 (still on the 4th) made me cry
Same, cold steel was my first introduction to this series. And i fell in love with Rean and class 7. So after one I played sky to get more backstory and lore. Sadly I stopped at cold steel 2 when I heard the crossbell series was coming. So didn't get to play 3 or 4 yet.😢
Same man. Class 7 and Co will always be my favorite due to being my first foray into trails. Laura, Sara, Musse, Fie, Juna, Rean, Crow, so many great characters
Already had a good feeling about Kuro just from the pre-release information, but I'm so glad to hear we're back to an SSS kind of deal. I loved the character dynamics from the Crossbell games and thought they were kinda lacking in CS in comparison. I still have Hajimari/Reverie to get through but I'm really looking forward to eventually playing Kuro.
I bought it on release and then waited for the spreadsheet and honestly just taking my time with it since I know when it ends I'll be once again forced to wait another year+ for kuro 2 lmao I just started chapter 3 and it's been great so far, easily on par with zero no kiseki for being a first in a new arc and I'd say it's basically outdone Sky FC, Zero and Cold Steel 1 when it comes to diversity of areas/content just by going by what I've seen up to chapter 3. And protagonist wise Van may end up becoming my favorite trails protag, not only does he have the best VA ever [battler from umineko] but he's also a more mature character like kevin and isn't weighed down by crippling insecurity like Rean was and also isn't incredibly idealistic like Lloyd was and of course is far more serious/calculating than Estelle. I'd say he has far more in common with Kevin and while sure Kevin also had a lot of self-hate/self-doubt it was far more justified in my opinion compared to Rean's case. I really, really hope zerofield translate Kuro no Kiseki 2, I've been learning Japanese casually for the last year and I'd say to truly enjoy trails the same way as in English you'd need at least 5-8 years of learning Japanese and at this point that's not going to be possible anytime soon lol Hopefully zerofield continues to save us
Thanks! With my massive PS4 backlog, on top of being a full time music teacher, the return to Zemuria with the English release is gonna be great. Fully caught up, but will replay the English releases of Nayuta, Crossbell duo and Reverie. The wait is more than bearable for me.
I love how your video rolled up just as I was entering the final dungeon🤣 Van is my spirit animal if I ever had one. I feel very at home with him and loved to chill at a bakery or steam room with him! The Ost is smaller for my taste
I was wondering when we'd get to hear your thoughts on Kuro. I'm definitely looking forward to the spoiler video. I more or less agree about the OST. I personally love all the stuff done by Jindo, but that's pretty much limited to boss music; the rest is a little weaker by JDK standards (some blame this on a lack of Unisuga), though "What Is Ahead Of You"(aka the unofficial theme of my favorite character from the game) still remains the most memorable non-battle track for many.
This is my favorite series of all time I didn’t even know about this until I came across this channel at random. Now I can’t get enough of the legend of heroes so much so I’m going to get a pc just so I can play the other ones that aren’t currently available anywhere else right now physically.
100% I just have to put it out of my mind until I at least hear of an official release date, and even then I try to forget about it until it’s at least several months away from launch.
Looking forward to your revised review for Zero and Azure Kai, I know there aren't many changes but it would be nice to highlight the few and really help sell the official releases to people after all this waiting 👍
@@TheKisekiNut That's a shame, I keep hearing about Crossbell fatigue from long-standing fans which is why I've held off playing the old geofront translation myself because of it. It kind of dampens the mood for the official release tbh after such a long wait so I hope someone does still do a review for it when it comes out to help make it more attractive for those that haven't played it yet still 😅
@@TheKisekiNut I'm wondering how much difference there will be in the translations. I only played them both once, so I'll definitely be doing another run of both.
OMG thank you TKN! I'll be waiting for the Steam release in English (so probably the longest possible wait) but this video FINALLY made believe in the combat system. I LOVE what you showcased, and the fact that "command" is still the main aspect of battle.
And yeah, I've definitely been on record saying I'm not a big fan of bonding (or connect now) for the exact same reasons you mentioned. And yeah I know which characters you're probably thinking about (Wazy, Rixia). I don't love missable information that's extremely important as you say, and optional romance just makes things weird when you don't pick the canon-girl (Alisa) like I didn't. I always felt like Sky was best - and this was a key reason. Every character was free to bond with the other characters without the constraint of keeping them available for an MC harem... Early in CS it seemed like Trails was trying to tap into Persona's popularity when they were getting more and more into this bonding system, and Persona is more tailored for that, while Trails is more tailored to the best character writing I've basically ever seen. The bonding systems (which are apparently not going anywhere) just always seemed to play against Trails' greatest strength - its writing.
@@dustingonzalez8080 I mean I'm not sure how you're hoping for that when we don't even have Trails into reverie yet. Hell by the time Kuro no Kiseki is even announced for the west they'll already have probably 2 more games out
@@darknesswave100 reverie is slated for next year so its not imposible for a 2024 release date cs3 came out in the west in 2019, cs4 a year later due to the script being out. same rules applies here kuro script is done and is finished so there is a high chance we can see a localization for kuro within a year
I am at chapter 5 of Kuro (I am playing the Chinese version and I can read Mandarin) and so far it has been good. I started with Cold Steel and although 1 and 3 make me cringe especially the cliffhanger, I am glad that 2 and 4 make up for it. I didn't play Haijmari since it is still using the old battle system and serves as an epilogue for the previous characters. I love the newer and faster combat especially since you can kill low-level grunts very fast without going to the command phase every time the cast encounters the enemies on the field. Van is definitely modelled after Gintoki from Gintama with his grey past and love of sweet pastries. (Pity, Van isn't voiced by Tomokazu Sugita who voiced Gintoki) Agnes is sweet and caring although she serves as the Mcguffin of the series and the reason Van started to open up more. Overall, I enjoying it so far and can't wait for Crimson Sin to be translated.
Thanks a lot for this spoiler-free review, mate :-). I still have to play a few games before Kuro (like CS IV, Hajimari), but I did try the game and I liked it. It's very promising :-D. The great fanmade spreadsheet will surely be my best friend for this gem.
Knew once you played there was no way you couldn't not make a video on it. I'm like 3 hours away from beating it so I'm looking forward to the spoiler discussion next week.
Wow I just got recommended your video by TH-cam, have to say that I agree to basically all the points you've made here. As a fan of the series from 2006 and played every entry, my impression is that Kuro overall is the best entry ever since the series got 3Ded in Cold Steel, personally I'd say it's right on the same level as Zero. It's the first time I felt comfortable recommending the series to my friends after Cold Steel started. Falcom finally corrected their wrongs and gave us a complete storyline in one game like Zero and I really appreciate that!!! Please please please never split your game in 2 just because you feeling like you might get away with it, it might worked well in Sky but it was a disaster for Cold Steel 2... Also the story is surprisingly mature and deep compared to what Cold Steel has to offer (to me Cold Steel's storyline, from the beginning to end, is its weakest point alongside most of its characters), I can only hope they will not screw up the big story arc this time... The characters are maybe the strongest after Sky and this sentiment speaks for itself. Agnes is probably the most compelling female protagonist after Estelle, and back when the game was first released my entire social media circle was filled with Shizuna fan boys, so yea... I like the new real time combat (which I get to use Agnes for 95% of the time LOL) The new orb system is good but inevitably leads to some pretty broken builds, which I'm confident they will fix in the upcoming titles. As for the music, yea it is the weak point of this title, sadly, somehow... Only impressive track for me is Rise of the Grendel and I highly suspect it's because how the track is being used...
So hyped for this video lol Having finished Kuro I really wanted to know how you felt about it. I thought the game was great, I couldn’t focus all that much though due to gushing over being in Calvary and enjoying the sights lol The ost was such a disappointment and it really did put a damper on my experience. Blue destination, inevitable struggle, silver will, unfathomed force…the music for me is such a strong factor in a Trails game almost on the same level as the story. But Kuro didn’t deliver :( Gameplay-wise I know major changes were made but it was good that the series didn’t lose its way and become something akin to a soulless husk. It’s just enough to feel like a breathe of fresh air while still being Trails at heart.
I'm playing hajimari with the zerofield translation and i'm hyped for that full translation to come West. Kuro can't come soon enough. Also I'm glad Falcom doesn't chase the cutting edge graphics meme, it always feels like misplaced resources when games do that.
Thanks for the video. I can wait while trying to catch up from older titles 🤣. I stopped halfway from cs2 because I'm trying to finish sky trilogy and heck even crossbell duology. Oh my I have 6 games of trails just to catch up.
Definitely feel you on the ost, i have a few tracks i really like but overall does feel a bit weaker compared to previous entries, and glad i wasn't the only one who felt there was less voiced lines lol
Such a shame as Falcom have been a byword for amazing music in games for so long. I haven't played Kuro yet but heard a bit of the OST here and there and yeah, I feel it too. Feels like it's been going downhill since CS3, to me at least.
Yeah it's a bit odd at times! The OST was a real shocker though - it's easily the most disappointed I've been with a Falcom game in terms of its tunes.
I played it faster than planned because of your review..it was really a great game and expanded kiseki worldbuilding even more Probably become my top 3 or 4 now , and this was only the first game..the sequel most likely will be amazing with the first game was this good Although i have to wonder about the new players..the reference was quite heavy from chapter 4
i started this series in 2006 and i cant imagine the day i play the last trails game. i have invested way too much in this world and all its characters, that saying goodbye to all of them will be extremely sad. still, cant wait to play kuro on the pc port on july
I wonder if the english dub is gonna have additional lines like how CS1-CS2 did on pc version compared to original japanese dub. Since the voice of Solid Snake, Akio Otsuka is the voice of Bergard, I really hope they get David Hayter for him
Wow, i just started my trails journey. Finished sky FC and loved it, its really hard to resist the urge to just start cold steel but ill go according to the release order, but man am i hyped, ive got a long way to go before i set foot in calvard
Watched this probably 4 to 5 times now at least so why not one MORE time due to the hype that is the Trails Through Daybreak for Summer 2024 announcement hype! Woohoo! I can't wait to play this game then! Got the Switch LE already preordered and will get the PS5 version too once it's closer to Trails Through Daybreak's release. ^_^
It's the best Trails game in the entire series IMO, but I say that as someone who previously liked the Crossbell games the most. Unfortunately it also looks like it might be the best compared with future games, since (as I understand it) Crimson Sin is a bit of a "filler" game and the next game won't be another Daybreak game (it sounds like it might be something similar to Hajimari, with Van just being a partial-protagonist. From what I understand, the Daybreak games didn't sell that well, so I really hope that Falcom doesn't learn all the wrong lessons for future games. Regardless of what happens, I'm still happy we got Daybreak 1 - it was basically the perfect blissful Trails game experience for me the whole way through, and it fixed most of the things I didn't like about Cold Steel's plot/characters (I still liked the CS games, but just disagreed with some of their choices). And it has a relatively self-contained plot, so future games can't really retroactively make it worse.
Bought it on steam a while ago but while it ran reverie fine, my old laptop was a little short of running kuro smoothly. It bricked so I got a beefy new desktop that's future proof for a while and this is one of the first things I installed. Absolutely love the combat, the visuals, the setting and the characters so far. But the combat feels like the next step forward for the series and more traditional jrpgs as a whole.
So Excited for the Localization! I already Pre-ordered it. I usually play them on the switch and so far have had a blast with the Kiseki series, I just hope Crimson Sin also get ported to switch it, would be a shame to only have Kuro 1 on it.
already know this game will be a banger with a new engine, but i dont wanna spoil myself with Kuro until i fully played Hajimari when it comes out localized, but honestly the localization cannot seem to keep up with the series, considering the amount of conversations there its no surprise. Until then patience
We just gotta keep patient. NISA are in a tough spot because of the situation we had with Crossbell and Nayuta. Once they've cleared this pack of titles, I'd like to think we'll start getting back on track. Doesn't help as well that Falcom just keep releasing Trails games at the moment, 3 years consecutively at present.
Would really like to know when this game will come over to the West. I am very much looking forward to it. Also I'm going to be pre-ordering all the other ones that should be coming out this year never played those ones so I'm very excited. Also there's a game I think you should check out if you haven't got your eyes on it yet it's called metal Max xeno reborn.
Started playing it yesterday with a fan translation, and as always, Falcom never disappoints. The game feels amazing, even though it will take some time to get used to the new mechanics.
The combat definitely looks like they took the foundations of Ys’ real-time combat, then layered the classic Trails tactical turn based combat on top of that. SquareEnix all did something similar with the FFVII Remake combat. You could either keep it full real-time combat with shortcuts for abilities to do them on the fly once you built up your ATB by doing basic attack allowing for seamless gameplay. Or, do a hybrid of real-time/turn-based where you still do basic attacks and dodge and blocks in real-time but use you the command window to stop time allowing you to tactically issue commands to party members and use items, and abilities, and such. As for the technical issues/loading times you had, that can be chalked up more to you playing it on the PS4 Slim rather than the game/engine itself. I’m assuming like with Reverie the game’s engine was probably developed primarily for newer hardware like the PS5 and pcs with up-to-date hardware and being at the PS4’s limit in terms of processing power. Though I imagine if you had played it on at least a PS4Pro the issues would have been a bit more mild.
What I hate is the time it takes from the Console to PC to do a "port". aside from that I have played all the game from falcom that have been translated and released on PC. Hopefully I might still be alive when they release this one in PC.
I don’t know if you already know or not, now that NISA already released its PC port on Steam with Durante’s help. Although it’s still in Japanese, Falcom also Tweeted that English text will be released in the future, indicating the English localization is in the works. Maybe they release the PC port first to anticipate the game’s release to not be delayed on PC and other platforms (except PS4/5) because of the technical issues.
I really wanted to watch Kuro no Kiseki playthrough(watched prologue and half of chapter 1 already) then stopped there because I wanted to experience the story myself, really wished I don't need to wait for a long time for English. While I'm already excited for Kuro No Kiseki since the release and watched part of it. I'm really worried about the release date for the localization.
So I’m super new to Trails, in fact I’ve only just started playing them… like within the last month. I started with Zero, but at about the halfway point when Estelle and Joshua are standing outside the doll factory apparently on the hunt for Renne, “shit… I should probably play the Sky trilogy first.” Even though I probably coulda kept going and would have been fine. But see I don’t roll like that. If I’m gonna play a series that is a grand, sprawling epic with a continuous narrative where all the games’ stories are intertwined, I can’t start in the middle. It’s like reading starting the Lord of the Rings with The Two Towers or worse Return of the King. You’re missing a ton of context, a ton of character development, a ton of world building, and don’t really understand what’s led up to that point in the story, or even missed MASSIVE events of the previous story that you’re now only experiencing the ripple effect of. I just can’t do that. So I decided fuck it, I’d just bite the bullet and download Sky FC, SC, and 3rd(just beat FC and am now in Chapter 4 of SC), then went even further and just bought the whole series. Like Zero was a good place to get me into the flow of the series and actually get me wanting to experience the WHOLE fucking series. So I’m gonna complete it, but for anyone asking “oh could I start with Kuro no Kiseki?” Fuck nah, that’s pointless. You’d be watching something like a mid-season finale of the 6 season of a show without watching the show at all. Don’t do that. All these games’ narrative are deeply tied to eachother. The events of one, create ripples affecting all the others creating more ripples affecting everything after. Like a chain reactions being set off. If you can start with Sky, if for some reason you can’t AT THE VERY LEAST start with Zero.
Two things: I'm glad the combat change doesn't change the game too much (I struggle to get into Ys). But I think that adding things you don't see anywhere else in 'bonding' events add replay value. Like taking Emma to Heimdallr to get the uniforms (albeit on NG+).
I think the biggest problem is that they have to make 70 songs a year, but the number of composers is too small now. To me it's hard to expect the music quality to improve than kuro
@@oo1314 Maybe if they spent less money on AAA voice actors that they can barely afford and spend more on the ost then we would actually get some more good songs
Thank you for this video! I agree the game OST is the weakest in the series(or at least in my opinion) . It isn't bad, it's actually good but not previous Trails level good. Can't wait for the spoiler discussion video. I'm going to finish the game today, and so far I think this arc is gonna be pretty damn fine. Also, Van is an excellent protagonist.
I think Reverie had the weakest OST. It may be my taste, but I found a lot of Daybreak tracks to be catchy. Past scene, arkride solutions the battle theme I found solid amongst others.
Localization of these games take a bit too long in my opinion. Japan is already getting Kuro 2 while we in the west still haven't gotten Reverie. I'll probably be dead by the time this game series is close to finishing lol
I mean thats exactly what I just said a second ago. It's getting ridiculous that these games take so damn long to come west when now, if you wanna take it by what games are out and announced, we're 3 games behind now. It's starting to piss me off a bit
I'm there with ya. It's gonna be a while before we even get caught up if it's even possible. Good time to tackle your backlog of games and RPGs now cause I think once Zero releases, it's going to be a trailsfest. At least I hope so
What sucks even more is that all of the pc ports are already in chinese and korean while english has to wait years for the translation to come out. They should really hire outside translation groups like zerofield to do the english translation, which would speed the process up by who knows how many years. I saw a in game text change translation for reverie somewhere before so my only hope is that they do it for kuro as well since I really don't want to use overlay when playing this game.
@@Unknown-ul2zz Not to be rude, but you really need to inform yourself better. The Chinese and Korean PC ports are absolutely atrocious as the Publishers for those put the bare minimum effort to release them as fast as possible. Night and day difference compared to what NISA does for their PC versions, which have all been handled by Durante, a modder that got so famous for his fixes to games like Dark Souls and FF that went on to create a company to port games, and he does an outstanding job, adding extra features like fast forward, cleaning up and increasing the textures quality, you can check one of his Q&A he did recently about the Zero port and see how much better the textures look with the works his putting. Basically, Falcom doesn't make PC ports of their games, the Publisher who gets the rights for the Chinese, Korean and English versions each make their own port.
Love these games...they're just sooooo long that it takes me ages to get through one 😭 I'm still on cold steel 2 on my PS3 cus I don't wanna rebuy it, but I'm hype to get further in the series 😁
I played the demo with the overlay and damn... I like Van already. Kuro is currently on 20% sale in asian SG PSN. Bruh... I fought the urge to buy it because 50+ bucks for it is still too expensive for me.
Game looks great and I'm excited to try it once the ps5 version is out. Unfortunately won't be able to watch your spoiler video until then, so if you don't mind, who were some of your favourite characters?
I may have moved away from Trails content, but it was never because I fell out of love with the series. And Kuro no Kiseki reaffirms a love for Trails that will never die out.
Footage is limited mostly to the Prologue of Kuro, nothing specific to the plot.
99 % will use eng translation mod on steam
Is the connect event like trials where a certain someone was pined as the main heroine or is this game the type where the main heroine is the one you choose to interact with?
Nah you Def lost love for the series
Here after we got the announcement. Peak fiction is back baby
But as for me, back to the Reverie waiting room I go!
why not play with English mod mod only not have translated mini games ant tutorials
There's plenty of juicy NPC stories in Kuro, I assure you of that Lady!
@@ayatok4870 I honestly am just not in a rush to play these games. I'm willing to wait to have the entire game (menus, text, and all NPC dialogue and all) completely localized.
@@TheKisekiNut Good to know! Will definitely be looking forward to it :)
@@LadyVirgilia same here. What close to matters most to me is having an english voice line. I really can't stand the massively
exaggerated voices of japanese dub.
Funny, I’ve been working through the games in the same order. Made CS3+4 a bit of a whirlwind but it’s been a good time overall.
me too, i'm curently in CS2, played a good chunk of sky 1 but stopped (i'm pretending get back after CS4 or azure/zero bc i see geolocalization mods)
Congratulations on completing Kuro no Kiseki, looking forward to Crimson Sin in the future.
My one favorite aspect of Kuro no Kiseki tho is below (in case this may be seen as a spoiler by some from an overall narrative perspective)

I think that's something that Kuro did very well - events in this game had some real weight to them especially in the later stages.
im hyped for whem it releases in 2024
Hearing that the Kuro cast reminds you of the SSS and their comraderie is like the highest praise and has me instantly interested. The cold steel characters are nice but like, the cast is so big that that part that I adored about the crossbells was gone
but i prefer kuro rather than zero, it mainly because how different spriggan tackle the quests.
I can hardly wait until 2035 when I'll be able to play it on Steam. :')
🤣😭 sad but true
I would take it on PC, Switch, or PS4 but that will probably take 5 years
At least it will be playable on the latest fridge by then
@@norestforthebuilders5865 That's the silver lining. I'm glad my toaster by then will be able to run it 🙏🏻
LMAO 😂😂😂
Idk if you did already but I am playing it now on Steam using an english patch. And its amazing.
It seems like Falcom listened to the fans and made changes based on that, which I love. I am very excited for this game, it look AMAZING! Good work and thank you for keeping us up to date on all things Kiseki :)
how are you not massive on YT? every video is so enjoyable to watch or even just listen to while you're trying to make progress through a backlog.
Well, the channel's at a point that I never thought it would get to! So anything else is a bonus nowadays. :)
I hate how far away the official localization for this game likely will be, but luckily the spreadsheet program makes this process as painless as is realistically possible.
how are you even playing it thought it was not out yet at least in the states
I'm a new fan to your channel and I want to say that I deeply, deeply appreciate that you put subtitles in all your videos!
Super hyped for this game now, I know it’ll take a bit but this looks like an exciting start to the new arc! Thanks for the awesome video man
Already had a good feeling about Kuro just from the pre-release information, but I'm so glad to hear we're back to an SSS kind of deal. I loved the character dynamics from the Crossbell games and thought they were kinda lacking in CS in comparison. I still have Hajimari/Reverie to get through but I'm really looking forward to eventually playing Kuro.
They remind of me of the SSS. I wouldn't they're at the same level, but the comradery is decent.
I bought it on release and then waited for the spreadsheet and honestly just taking my time with it since I know when it ends I'll be once again forced to wait another year+ for kuro 2 lmao
I just started chapter 3 and it's been great so far, easily on par with zero no kiseki for being a first in a new arc and I'd say it's basically outdone Sky FC, Zero and Cold Steel 1 when it comes to diversity of areas/content just by going by what I've seen up to chapter 3.
Your videos keep getting better and better TKN! always look forward to watching them!
I won't watch the next one since I really want to play it for myself when it comes out here but this was a good overview! Can't wait.
Yeah no worries mate. It's the main reason why I wanted to split it in two.
For me personally It's kind of hard to get excited for any new falcom game, knowing that it will take years for the western release.
Exactly. CS4 was last october and we've still got nothing solid on the 3 games that've already released in Japan.
tbh it's probably quicker to learn another language
There's an English mod now on pc not just an overlay jr actually replaces the text to English
@@teemiya Actually I legitimately want to do that and go to japan looking for hidden gem games never released in my country.
100%
I just have to put it out of my mind until I at least hear of an official release date, and even then I try to forget about it until it’s at least several months away from launch.
Looking forward to your revised review for Zero and Azure Kai, I know there aren't many changes but it would be nice to highlight the few and really help sell the official releases to people after all this waiting 👍
I won't be playing the English releases of Zero and Azure. Already played them 3 times, I'll just be buying them for my collection.
I am super excited for this game... unfortunately at the rate Falcom is going with their translations it will be years before I can play it though. 😞
Yeah buddy, turn based is still the main focus here. I think they struck the balance just right.
Love your videos. Love it even more because of the trails series. Keep it up bro!
I would be hyped if it had a confirmed english release date within the next 3 years.
I’m really hoping for a 2024 release date.
@@dustingonzalez8080 I mean I'm not sure how you're hoping for that when we don't even have Trails into reverie yet. Hell by the time Kuro no Kiseki is even announced for the west they'll already have probably 2 more games out
@@darknesswave100 reverie is slated for next year so its not imposible for a 2024 release date cs3 came out in the west in 2019, cs4 a year later due to the script being out. same rules applies here kuro script is done and is finished so there is a high chance we can see a localization for kuro within a year
Same. I can't care about it when I can't even play without a spreadsheet
I just finished Intermission. This game is incredible.
I never played any of the other games but this looks right up my ALLEY!!!
Your video makes me so excited to play this game! Hopefully soon-ish!!
Took me over 100 hours and I loved every minute of it!
I am currently playing through Reverie. I am so hyped for the next one with a smaller main cast than Cold Steel.
That intro was so good!
I cannot wait!!! Still have to finish trails 4 though :D
Thanks a lot for this spoiler-free review, mate :-).
I still have to play a few games before Kuro (like CS IV, Hajimari), but I did try the game and I liked it. It's very promising :-D.
The great fanmade spreadsheet will surely be my best friend for this gem.
Enjoy it when you get to it bud! It's still got that spark as Trails always does.
Knew once you played there was no way you couldn't not make a video on it. I'm like 3 hours away from beating it so I'm looking forward to the spoiler discussion next week.
I've held off on this series for a while because how all the games are connected but I recently picked up ToCS 1-3
I thought the game was great, I couldn’t focus all that much though due to gushing over being in Calvary and enjoying the sights lol
The ost was such a disappointment and it really did put a damper on my experience. Blue destination, inevitable struggle, silver will, unfathomed force…the music for me is such a strong factor in a Trails game almost on the same level as the story. But Kuro didn’t deliver :(
Gameplay-wise I know major changes were made but it was good that the series didn’t lose its way and become something akin to a soulless husk. It’s just enough to feel like a breathe of fresh air while still being Trails at heart.
playing right now, OST's !! man it's insane, battles never gets boring
Just finished Reverie. can't wait to play this with my grandson when it comes to the west!
I'm playing hajimari with the zerofield translation and i'm hyped for that full translation to come West. Kuro can't come soon enough.
Also I'm glad Falcom doesn't chase the cutting edge graphics meme, it always feels like misplaced resources when games do that.
HOOOOOO YESSSSSS. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO.
Thanks for the video. I can wait while trying to catch up from older titles 🤣. I stopped halfway from cs2 because I'm trying to finish sky trilogy and heck even crossbell duology. Oh my I have 6 games of trails just to catch up.
Please continue doing this series !
Just finished it 2 weeks ago. Great game as each game of Kiseki series)))
I played it faster than planned because of your review..it was really a great game and expanded kiseki worldbuilding even more
Probably become my top 3 or 4 now , and this was only the first game..the sequel most likely will be amazing with the first game was this good
Although i have to wonder about the new players..the reference was quite heavy from chapter 4
I'm excited for this to come officially for the west
Kinda impressed you already had this video ready to go
Well I know what I'm doing after I finish cold steel 4. Looked up the overlay now imma try it out
I'm about 55 hours in, the characters are indeed great :)
i started this series in 2006 and i cant imagine the day i play the last trails game. i have invested way too much in this world and all its characters, that saying goodbye to all of them will be extremely sad. still, cant wait to play kuro on the pc port on july
You know japanese, chinese, or korean?
I wonder if the english dub is gonna have additional lines like how CS1-CS2 did on pc version compared to original japanese dub.
Since the voice of Solid Snake, Akio Otsuka is the voice of Bergard, I really hope they get David Hayter for him
Wow, i just started my trails journey. Finished sky FC and loved it, its really hard to resist the urge to just start cold steel but ill go according to the release order, but man am i hyped, ive got a long way to go before i set foot in calvard
It's been a year and I've played all games till daybreak. I'm currently playing daybreak 2 with a fan translation
Oh, trust me. I am excited.
It's just i'm still waiting for Hajimari, and we have the whole 2022 and 2023 ahead of us 🥲
Watched this probably 4 to 5 times now at least so why not one MORE time due to the hype that is the Trails Through Daybreak for Summer 2024 announcement hype!
I was very happy with Sky 1-3. In Cold Steel 1 now. Glad to know the momentum does not drop
Thanks for the video! Bought the game back when it came out in September. Looking forward to checking it out!
Not sure how many games will be in this arc but I'm really hoping for a remake of the sky games after this is finished ive heard there is interest
Kondo said they're fully focused on finishing the series before considering remakes of the older titles, so I can't see this happening any time soon.
@@TheKisekiNut Yeah probably after the Calvard arc is over assuming this is the last arc of the series but not sure how many games it will be
Bought it on steam a while ago but while it ran reverie fine, my old laptop was a little short of running kuro smoothly. It bricked so I got a beefy new desktop that's future proof for a while and this is one of the first things I installed. Absolutely love the combat, the visuals, the setting and the characters so far. But the combat feels like the next step forward for the series and more traditional jrpgs as a whole.
I'am currently playing in japanesse , it's really a great game. Falcom never dissapointed
now that TKN have released this video about kuro, more patience is neede for the official announcement of the localization of the game
So Excited for the Localization! I already Pre-ordered it. I usually play them on the switch and so far have had a blast with the Kiseki series, I just hope Crimson Sin also get ported to switch it, would be a shame to only have Kuro 1 on it.
The Kuro no Kiseki!!! The Kuro no Kiseki English localization is real!!!!!
already know this game will be a banger with a new engine, but i dont wanna spoil myself with Kuro until i fully played Hajimari when it comes out localized, but honestly the localization cannot seem to keep up with the series, considering the amount of conversations there its no surprise.
I love the intro of this game 😁
I'm just here waiting to see how all this will end
I'll be playing this day 1 when the localized version releases
Damn that video intro 🔥
Best characters imo: Van, Elaine and the cast. The villains were good as well.
Excited if we ever get to play it anytime soon lol
Two things:
I'm glad the combat change doesn't change the game too much (I struggle to get into Ys).
But I think that adding things you don't see anywhere else in 'bonding' events add replay value. Like taking Emma to Heimdallr to get the uniforms (albeit on NG+).
I just finished reverie today, hope there will be an english patch for kuro soon, I'll miss Rean and Lloyd
PC just got the English patch fan made
Me coming back to watch this now that the game is finally out 👀
Great video. The game looks amazing.
With Takahiro Unisuga gone, I am quite worried about the future of the OST of the series. His departure is already felt with the release of Kuro.
@@oo1314 they could reuse music from other game it's not a probleme , as the most of ost track of cold steel are still very good ,
@@pochul even if that good i want always new tracks to jam with
Thank you for this video!
I think the bar has been set so high from previous games that it's very easy to notice when it drops below that level.
@@TheKisekiNut Yeah... Let's hope Crimson sin OST's gonna be back on track.
I think Reverie had the weakest OST. It may be my taste, but I found a lot of Daybreak tracks to be catchy. Past scene, arkride solutions the battle theme I found solid amongst others.
Thank you very much!
It's starting to piss me off a bit
yeah, frankly after CS4 my hype died when I found out Reverie isn't coming till 2023.
I'm stoked for it but gonna have to wait years to play it lol
No worries mate, enjoy the game first!
Elaine and Van are the highlights - I'll leave it at that.
Currently playing the newly released japanese only Nisa ph3 Gmbh pc version with the (redacted) English patch. So far, so good.
