Very interesting and helpful tutorial James. Recently, I try to add some Pixinsight functionalities to my processing workflow and this is a great basis. Thanks & clear skies.
Hey James - This video was extremely well explained and really did not assume prior knowledge (which I don't have). I've only used the EZ suite version of this so looking forward to trying this out where I can play with the key settings you've highlighted. Thanks again for taking the time to put this together :) much appreciated. -Ollie.
Awesome Vid, I was getting the orange peel and decided I would skip deconvolution after many failed attempts and hit and misses, amazing to know I can do it after noise reduction! thanks!
Thank you! Glad this helped. Yea.. that orange peel effect was driving me nuts for awhile. Doing NR before was a little bit of a breakthrough for me :)
Thanks! I have tried the ezscript but in the case of deconvolution I have found it quicker to get good results doing it manually. I like the ez softstretch and use that often.
Great tutorial on decon James! I always get new ideas watching your videos. I know how to do decon, but to be honest I've never worked with the "Global Bright" only the "Global Dark" so I may try that out.
Very clear and concise. Just subscribed and will forward on to some friends. I get the comment with re: to the EZ decon script. It leaves halos and does not get me to the desired point. Thx
Fantastic tutorial James. I must use deconvolution more, even if just to tighten up the stars. Like you, I found it frustrating that testing settings on small windows often resulted in quite different results when applied to the whole image. I have used EZ Decon a couple of times which did work quite well on a couple of images but on most, the results did not look so good. Will be trying out your Decon settings on my next process.
Great job explaining deconvolution. I'm curious to know why you go through it manually instead of using the EZ Decon script. You use the EZ Denoise script. Is there something you're getting from doing it manually that you can't get from the script?
@@DSOImager makes perfect sense, James. Why bother to continue using a tool which does not produce satisfactory results? I actually am that way with the EZ Denoise. I use it... I get a bunch of steps into processing and realize I'm not happy with it because I was too heavy-handed and now I have very clear "denoise artifacts" throughout my image. At some point I really should dial in those settings :)
Hi Salvo, It should be possible.. but I have not tested it. It's certainty something that we can try. I wonder how we would do this. Perhaps generate the PSF like we normally do.. then remove the stars.. then adjust the global dark value on the starless version. Might work. :)
Wow, what a great demonstration and explanation. Thank you James.
You're welcome Dan :)
This is hands down one of the best videos on the subject. Very helpful and much appreciated!
Thanks! :)
Just watched it. Very well explained. I’ll definitely try it soon. Thanks a lot.
Thanks! Looking forward to seeing your results.

Thanks Ollie!
awesome Tutorial James!! I also Love Small Stars in Images! Always Enjoy Your Tutorials!!👍🏻
Thank you so much DSH! :)
Great video. Very helpful and I see an immediate boost in the image I tested it on.
Nice! Glad it helped :)

A very well explained video.

Hi… Another great tutorial, thanks for all you do here… just wondered whether you ever use EZ Decon ❓
Thanks! I have tried the ezscript but in the case of deconvolution I have found it quicker to get good results doing it manually. I like the ez softstretch and use that often.
@@DSOImager Hi… I’ve started using EZ Decon just for the PSF generation… I agree EZ Soft Stretch is a great ‘go to’ 👍🏻

Thanks Joe! This TH-cam thing is working out real well. We are all picking up little things from each other :)
Love your tutorials mate. Great video👍
Thanks! Glad you like them :)

Thank you Victor.. appreciate the sub :) Glad you found this useful.

Thanks Jonny... I tried the script a couple of times.. it didn't speed things up and I didn't care for the results.

Hello James. It is possibile deconvolution in starless?

@@DSOImager Ok ... So let's try 😂
I’ve been thinking about this too. I must make the time to try it.
