Me and my photo collective just arranged a street photo festival here in Oslo this weekend. I've been thinking for a long time to make a photo book and zine festival/fair, where people can promote and/or sell their zines or books. And, at the same time, as we noticed people said during the festival, make a space for people to show their work and meet outside the algorithmic confines of social media.
Its a great move. Really helpful to do as books are heavy to post and people can get them without shipping costs. There were about 70 tables at ABBF. I shared a table with a friend though as we got to tag out for food/beer and I could peel off to do interviews etc it was also cheaper! I think £150 for a table for 3 days was fair. Maybe for a weekend you could charge £100? Its a good way to raise some funds to support the photo festival and for publishers / self-publishers to sell books.
When she talked about the Matrix you don't know how long I struggled in the edit of the video to NOT drop some sunglasses onto her! ha! Lucky for me I shoot, edit and upload these things in 3 hours!
Yeah it's a little bit of a trek there though isn't it! Which photo book fairs are there and how much to get a table? That's a really important factor because if it's too much it almost makes it impossible to make any profit.
@@PicturesOnMyMind Dayanita Singh has this amazing vest with pockets deep enough to carry her own (small) publications. It looks cool, it's not ridiculous, and I bet she saves money that way :D
@@jbentosimoes yeah I knew a guy who used to do that, Nico Baumgarten, walking around the book fair with a folding tray! it's pretty cool. I'll have to try and get him as a cameo on my show.

It looks great, I not heard about it before. I’ll try to make it next year.
