thanks soooo much. After removing a screw from the reservoir i put the element back BUT the element kept making noise during the centrifuge part of the wash. THANKS to you i got it in the right position by moving it into that click part, i am so grateful for people like you who teach us. I did need to put my phone flashlight into the drum (where you put clothes in to wash) & through the holes shined light i could better see & click it in place ❤️🤗✌🏽🥳😁
I could not have done it without you. I found the element and got it out, then used washing up liquid and the hammer and screwdriver as you showed. It was almost like I had my old Dad telling me how to do it. I am very pleased with myself indeed and hope I can keep my old washing machine going for a bit longer.
Hello. My advice is to spray WD-40 agent onto that black rubber during moving out process. Usually it doesn't go out so easily and quickly like in this vlog/movie. In my case the sealing ( black rubber) jammed and stuck out only 2 - 3 mm outside its socket. After applying WD-40 and moving the heater forward and backward I was able to pull it out by hands without any tools. My washing machine is Hotpoint Aristo BWMD 742 . I hope it helps you a lot. Kind regards. P.S. Of course you can use any equivalent to WD-40 available in your country.
Good point! Thank you! my 2 cents: 1. Do not completely unscrew the central tightening nut. Leave it on the bolt and grab this nut with Vise-grip or pliers. Then pull the nut (which in turn pulls the entire heater element) 2. Before inserting the thermistor into the rubber seal wipe it and spread some Vaseline (white petrolatum) on the thermistor. 3. Smear some Vaseline on the contact surface of the rubber seal itself (the surface that seals the heater element).
We've tried this but unfortunately didnt get the element back in properly and the drum was catching is when we did a trial wash. We tried to drain the machine before opening the back but lots of water flooded into the base of the machine. Will it be safe to use once it has dried out? And roughly how long would this take, please? Thank you for this video - it has been very helpful!
So I’ve got the heating element out but now the bracket has dislodged it self inside? How do i put the bracket back in? Is it a take the whole thing apart job? Thanks
I could not get the heater out although I followed the instructions.I unscrewed the bolt almost to the end of the shaft. Then knocked the shaft to release the clamp, to release the heater. Used a flat blade screwdriver on the edges to ease out the heater but it got stuck for some reason. I used some washing liquid to make it easier but didn't work. It can be pushed in and it dangles but I can't get it out. Can you help please? Any advice?
The was a suspicious video cut just at the hardest part, I have tried to use a 3 foot crowbar with 2 people on it and it still stuck, I will have to use a multi tool to try and cut up the seal.
After cut knuckles and much swearing, I couldn't remove the element, the plastic surround is now all bent up too! Might be time for a new washing machine!
Joe Anthing same I have a hell of a job to remove the old one it does give after a while also meany f*** words and blood all works great in the end haha
Shane Kneeshaw Haha, I had to get my brother to do it in the end and eventually got it out. It turned out there was nothing wrong with the element after all and that the clothes come out of the wash cold normally after the rinse cycle! Argh!
@@ianspencer2826 thanks for that comment Ian. Spent over an hour with screwdrivers as i was worried it was not releasing properly after seeing all these videos come out with little effort!.
I wish I'd known how difficult it was to get these elements out. After an hour on my back and much swearing and sore hands I have actually just given up. The thing will not come out :(
Graham Thacker I knooooow, it's killing me and the rubber that holds the whole thing in will simply not come out. Thinking of cutting everything off and just getting a new heater.

Make sure that the new one comes with a thermistor because sometimes, that fails, the heater is much more robust than you'd think.
If u can't get out the element, try oiling up the plastic where the seal sits then wear gloves and try to pull it one side then the other.
Have to do the nut up quite tight to squeeze the gasket rubber to seal
Thanks for posting
will the element short out and blow the circuit breaker
This is what's happening to mine.
My earth fixing has broken off the heating element, can I just connect it with the nut just above it?
Yes, ground it
Really good👍👍👍. Helped me a lot.
Thanks but the heating element just would not come out... maybe they are designed like that to get people to buy a new machine everytime a part fails.
Thank you! ❤❤❤
Thank you sir
There is no need to take off the belt i've replaced a heater before and the belt wasn't in the way at all
there was no need to take the belt off it only take the belt off it if it needs replacing or if the brushes need replacement
Its a compression nut. Ya back it off then pop it with a flathead.
Many thanks
Mine would not come out
What do you call the thing you used to undo the nut bolt please?
a wrench
Tried...got stuck not coming out...now thinking buying a new one..

it's never that easy to come out Lol!
It’s not as easy as you are showing in this video.
