    Just a small detail, Gara and Jonay did not jump from the cliff, Jonay takes a branch of the very strong wood Erica arborea, sharpened with his knife to the point, which he places over his heart and Gara's heart, and they hug. tightly together for the last time

    Great video, thanks for sharing your experiences.
    La Gomera has many hidden and surprising places, its cliffs, ravines, forests, palm groves, abandoned lands and villages and its magnificent (ROQUES), chimneys of ancient eroded volcanoes that reveal the ascent conduit of the lavas already solidified millions of years ago.
    If you are interested in the ethnography of the islands, I recommend a series of documentaries that were shown on TV in the mid-1990s and early 2000s, Senderos Isleños,(islands or islanders life trails/paths), shows the life and customs of our ancestors, in our fields, towns, cities and coasts and always with a prior reference to the past life of the Guanches and customs bequeathed and adopted from them by the new Castilian, Portuguese, Genoese, Andalusian settlers, etc, etc.
    Sure the greener island is not La Gomera you have to discover La Palma (la Isla Bonita),( the Beauty Island), the greener island of the Canary Islands.....

    Epic intro :-) I would take anything a taxi driver from Tenerife tells you with a pinch of salt haha but the suicide of a king gives a mountain in Tenerife its name. Sad that you carried all your sleeping gear I didn't use it.. Great video again mate and some water facts :-)

      Thanks really appreciated 🙏 ☺️ 😊! Besides the driving skills the taxi driver seemed very trustworthy 🙃😜 Nice just checked the story of the king 🤴

    Great video, good camera work and commentary. I immediately Subscribe and when I have time I will watch more of your videos. I don't understand that TH-cam suppresses it so much, I searched for "Hikes La Gomera" several times before and only worse and uncommented videos popped up.
    Have you considered a smaller backpack? It seems to me that you're carrying too much and it's holding you back.

      Hey, welcome aboard, and really thanks for the comment! Yep for the hike in La Gomera I for sure should have taken less with me, especially since I didn't even use my tent 😲

      @@UntraveledRoadsOfficial Waterproof Jacket, hat, 0.5 litres of water, some cash and a credit card. That's all you need. ;-) I love ultralight hiking.

    How would you compare La Palma, La Gomera and Madeira to each other? I've been to la palma, did the GR130 & 131 and loved it!

    • @UntraveledRoadsOfficial
      @UntraveledRoadsOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks for your comment 🤙. I think from Flora and climate La Palma and Madeira are pretty similar. La Gomera is definitely more dry especially below the Laurisilva and also La Gomera has this crazy cliffs everywhere. I think Madeira and La Palma are pretty much the same size (more or less) but Madeira feels a bit more diverse from the different climate zones. What you can tell in La Palma is definitely that's a volcanic island in lots of places you can still see hardened lava, Madeira is also a volcanic island but the last outbreak is very very long ago, so you can't really tell that's volcanic origin. All in all the two are the best comparable islands but in my opinion Madeira is with regions and climate even more diverse, from jungle to pine forest and laurisilva to the alpine desert and the dry south. Super jealous that you did the GR 131 😅 I wanted to do it but the weather conditions were bad and then I didn't have enough time 😢 but glad to hear you enjoyed it 😊

    Hi Georg, What happened, that you have not crossed Tenerife?

    • @UntraveledRoadsOfficial
      @UntraveledRoadsOfficial  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey
      Thanks for your comment 😊. So there was calima and too much snow/ice on Teide and I have only limited equipment (like crops and axe) with me since I travel around. That's why I decided to go first to go to la gomera and la palma. But I will go afterwards back to Tenerife and finally do the crossing
