      Best part is... It's the same engine as the RS6/RSQ8. So with a low effort tune, you can get it to ~600 bhp. And it's already putting out peak torque of ~600 lbs/ft stock.

    Amazing review as always Joe. I loved the way you summarised the comparisons between SQ7 and X7 M60i. I went for a test drive today, and I must admit that when you drive a SQ7, you completely don't realise that you are driving such a big 7 seater SUV. I watched your review on X7 M60i, but didn't get chance to drive that one yet to experience the differences. Other car we are considering is a 7 Seater RR P530 which has got the same engine as X7 M60i. But the price for that one is like £40k more than a SQ7!

    Had one of these for three years (thanks Joe for the original review - which helped persuade me) and get a new one in a couple of months. Feels a bit boring to get the same car again but, needing a family car, I couldn’t find anything else with 7 seats which also sounds awesome and is fairly swift - not at this price point anyway. The new one has a pan roof and the old one didn’t so good to hear your thoughts on that Joe. Thanks for the review! Love your work and always I tune in 😊

    Great review Joe and agree with your conclusion. We are on our second SQ7 having had the diesel one first and now the petrol v8. It’s a fantastic family car. Negatives are:
    - no dimmer switch for screens at night- need to go through the menu options which is a pain
    - fuel economy is tragic about 19 mpg - hybrid v8 would be nice option
    - steering feel. There is none but still enjoyable to drive enthusiastically
    - plastic steering wheel paddles feel cheap
    Other than that it’s great. Would have bought another diesel though it that was an option as that engine was perfect and sounded decent too. Not as good as the petrol obviously.
    Oh and no faults in 6 years of ownership of both cars. Built like a tank.

    It's a shame that Audi stopped fitting the brilliant anti roll bars to SQ7 when they switched from diesel to petrol. They've set that exclusive to SQ8.
    Those anti rollers make a big impact on body roll and handling on the diesel SQ7 and would have worked wonders in the petrol pot.

      It's opt-in the US with sports differential for5k. I've owned one both with and without and it makes tremendous difference. Without the adaptive roll bars thae car doesn't feel eager to turn. It protests a bit and leans over. Add the adaptive bars and it begs you to turn in. It can attack a corner and doesn't feel so big and ponderous. Bonus is that it greatly improves the ride in all modes especially on side to side movements. I consider it a must have option if you drive enthusiastically.

    • @Welwynnick
      @Welwynnick หลายเดือนก่อน

      I just transcribed the subtitles at 16 minutes where he described "Dynamic Driving":
      "Yesterday off camera I did push it through one of my favourite twisty roads and it was pretty respectable, although once you started getting near it’s grip limits the car just started to understeer and that was with everything switched off. I guess that’s what you want in your big seven seater family car. It’s the safest way to approach ….. grip limits, but it wasn’t disappointing. I was still having fun, but I was very aware it’s weight and it’s mass. It didn’t shrink around me in the same way that, let’s say, Audi’s RSQ8 or RSQ8 performance does. Those models seem to defy physics altogether, whereas this one, although it does a good job at pushing physics to one side, you’re very aware of it’s size and of it’s weight."
      I always hear good things about what the SQ7 TDI, RSQ8, Bentayga, Cayenne and Urus do with the active anti-roll bars. I've had several Mercedes with ABC suspension, and it transforms handling. I think it's a huge loss not having those as an option on the SQ7 any more. This would be a show-stopper for me. Audi UK, please reconsider.

    While i'm glad they added a petrol V8, a diesel V8 made more sense for 90% of people. It still had a lot power while being extremely efficient. Now the diesel V8 is dead. Is it more fun than the diesel SQ7? Absolutely, but then again, it's an SUV. That 0-60 is really amazing though.

    • @JoeAchilles1
      @JoeAchilles1  หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is an argument for both, but the V8 Diesel was never massively efficient in this bus, it also costs 10% more at the pumps, not much in it when you factor that in.

    at review Joe !!!
    Must admit that its odd cars like this which are released / refreshed in 2024 still do not better the Jaguar F-Pace SVR for performance (3.8 seconds 0 to 60) !
    The SVR has equal performance and is no less reliable than the Audi Q7 (from what I have heard), and now much much cheaper in the UK as the insurance for this class of car is expensive.
    Would like to see the Jaguar F-Pace SVR used as the benchmark when asessing this level of car My assumption (and as you have stated) is manufacturers haven't increased the performance levels of this class of car for some time now, so are relying on new features to differentiate.
    Note:
    - Appreciate the Audi and other newer cars in this performance bracket have newer tech / features, etc which may be thedeciding factor for many..
    - I don't own a Jaguar F-Pace SVR so my assessment isn't inffluenced by ownership.

    This may sound ridiculous to some if not most however should I ever be lucky enough to win the lottery an SQ7 is the first car I'm buying. I have 2 kids growing up fast and 1 large dog and another very large dog and all things considered I don't think there is a better all round family car for my life. Yes yes I know some people may shout Range Rover at me or defender and maybe even an X7 but none of those provide the mix of reliability, practicality, performance and value for money the SQ7 offers in my opinion. Kids aged 11 and 8, semi-rural location, a Newfoundland and a large cross breed, a relatively active lifestyle and as a current Audi owner this car would tick pretty much every family daily box for me and like I said if a lottery win meant I was putting together my perfect fleet of cars buying one of these would definitely be the easiest decision I'd have to make.

    Great review but no wonder new cars aren’t selling at these crazy prices.
    Car manufacturers thought they could blame inflation for increasing cars by 70%. Well no one is falling for that scam anymore 😀

    I'll take a S/H 21 reg with the big diesel please, peach of an engine (mines in a Cayenne) with 26-36mpg capability. Tows good too. The BMW id 400kgs heavier, that bonkers, how do they achieve that!

    The lines between SQ7 and RS6 are blurred. Looks more like a hot wagon than an SUV. This might be my choice for a car if the dealerships stop ripping US consumers off.

    Wouldn’t this compare with the BMW X5 M50 with third row option? I don’t believe Audi offers a true competitor to the X7 which is a larger car but rumors are a Q9 is coming to compete.

      I would think they are mostly being leases, and I’m guessing around £2k/month. It’s still a lot, no doubt, but more people will find £2k a month (which they probably can’t really afford) than have £100k cash in their account to buy one outright. Nuts either way.

    Just take a Q7 standard but if u want to save fuel as well there’s a PHEV in case you’re wondering, or just get a VW Touareg for less the price.

    Lol... only under 100k new! Sure I'll buy 2. So detached these days. EDIT: I mean the car manufacturers... getting away with thinking of a number and trebling it.

      When did I say "only under £100k"? Why did you like your own comment?

    • @EH1942
      @EH1942 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @JoeAchilles1 genuinely did not like my own comment... that was someone else... and the heading of the video is literally titled .. and under 100k new.... im assuming if you had been implying anything other than it was reasonable you would have said nearly 100k for a jacked up s7.. or such like.
      Reading my comment I guess you have taken it a little personally.. the detached reference was directed at audi... and the car market in general, throwing up prices at a rate far higher than even the crazy inflation for the last few years. But you have a platform where it probably should be challenged... I get that would probably not help the access to their vehicles for review though.

      Presume you men road fund licence or whatever they call it? First one increases significantly, but is part of the on the road price. Guessing someone buying at this price point it’s not that important?
      No business user would touch this with a barge pole! BIK will be massive. EV route for them. So very few will be sold!

    FYI you weren't in launch control. You have to be in S not M (plus stability control fully off and auto start/stop off, engine at operating temp and the steering wheel straight ahead) and the revs will torque boost till about 3,000 rpm. When in launch control you'll be 0-60 mph in 3.5 to 3.6 sec.
