A few points, since I've been doing algos for a few years now. 1. You can add a slippage filter, 2. slippage is greater on a live account than on a demo account, 3. the result will vary depending on the broker since they've different setups, 4. for scalping you need a broker with raw access to the market. 5. scalping only makes sense if the spread is low, and the asset with the lowest spread is EURUSD. 6. The term scalping is used for small timescales (not H1) in which trades are executed within minutes. Thanks for the idea, I produced my own MT5 algo since yesterday and it looks promising. Keep the ideas flowing!

Scalping you need zero spreads and ECN account . And a broker that you can call anytime .
Scalping better on Mt5 since it's faster.
Since you can scalp 10-15 pips.
Normally Brokers spread up to 5 pips plus commissions.
Plus you need a sharp EA that set take profit.
Stop reversal indicator can get 90% winrate Scalping. As you scalp the change of open price.

Great stuff Rene. I’ve added a time filter to avoid looking for trades during lower liquidity hours (mostly Asian market hours). Also I usually test with a higher latency. I agree that if the test is ok for difficult situations then it should be ok for live stage. Also agree with Fredrick, scalping is for lower time scales. Keep up the good work.

Love your analytics. I wonder why the backtesting doesn't have a commission setting. If we use a commission-free account, the spread is a big problem because it is not fixed all the time, so the backtest results will be misleading.

My experience with scalping is that one should target 10 pips per trade to make good money. The cost for the commission and spread can take up to 6 pips in terms of monetary charges. A scalper should also choose brokers with ECN accounts with low spreads and commission such as FP markets, Exness, and IC markets. Most brokers charge hefty commissions that makes scalping unprofitable but I ended up with the three as the best in the market

Hey, René, thanks for the vid and the code! I did a bunch of tests, using my live account data. The tests also include slippage for me, so that's good. I am using the 5minute option, so it trades more and makes comparing the results faster. I also loaded the EA on my live 50€ account to see real results. I am running the EA on five different pairs - EURUSD, GBPUSD, AUDUSD, USDCAD and XAUUSD. I did not change any settings besides the timeframe for any of them - so far so good, but i will let you know how it goes for me in the future. Thanks again and keep up the good work! :)
PS. In the tester I used 500ms delay, while really i'm running it on MQL vps with only about 2ms delay.

    • @ReneBalke

Yes it is really hard to find these conditions. A good/fair broker is key here. But you will still have slippage because that is just how the market works :/

The idea is, if price trades past a key high to the left and a new high to the right is formed, a buy limit is placed at the open price of the last down candle before the price move up that create the new high to the right
and for sell limits if price trades past a key low to the left and a new low to the right is formed, a sell limit is placed at the open price of the last up candle before the price move down that created the new low to the right

Vielen lieben Dank!

hi, i am a new subscriber to your channel,i would like to thanks for your effort in making videos sharing a lot of good idea with us.
After watching this video, I have an idea on solving the slippage problem, is it avoidable if we have a program to monitor the bid price and ask price instead of monitoring the closing price. for example,we buy 1 lot usdeur with price 1.4000 ,then we monitor the bid price ,if the bid price reach our desired level, the program immediately send a market order to sell it ,in the moment just assume the program can check if the bid price volume is larger than the volume we would like to sell first , that
Is, when the bid price is now 1.5000 , a market order is sent immediately . In this case if we have a fast vps with low ping latency, do you think the slippage problem will be reduced?
Just a brainstorm idea, thanks for your effort in making the video again

    • @ReneBalke
      @ReneBalke  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey, welcome on the channel :) I don't think the slippage problem is easy to solve. The main problem is that the price can jump over your SL lines. And in this case you kinda have to options: 1. Close at the current (worse) price 2. Hope that the price will come back to the SL level what is not guaranteed
      ..
Both options suck but that is just how it works :/

IF your scalping for 5 pips or less, you will not make enough profit in the long term after trade costs and slippage...When I scalp, I shoot for 10pips average. Unfortunately US residents don't have much choice of brokers to choose from. Sure, some offshore brokers allow US residents but you are taking a big risk since most of them have sketchy records and if they went out of business, you would lose all your money. I would never send more than $500 to an offshore broker.
