Sometimes it blows my mind when I listen to this show. The fact that neither person knew you could take college courses and earn an AA degree while in HS is wild. Especially the facts that they all got kids primarily envy and Charla. This has been a thing for a long time smh. My baby brother just graduated from HS last week with his associates as well. And fyi I’m 39 and this was a thing when I was in HS.

Not all high schools offer this option though. My high school didn’t and I’m not even that old. I’m only 26. The most we could do was take AP classes and they only started offering that my last two years of high school.

That’s not offered everywhere and a lot of people are actually not aware of it. Idk just trying to give the benefit of a doubt lol. I took AP courses but didn’t know about dual enrollment. My daughter will be in the early college academy next year. They do the full 4 years on the college campus alongside the high school courses. Shell graduate with her associates & 2 free years in the community college before she can transfer into a university. Such a privilege.

There are schools that are early colleges that you complete an Associates and high school diploma. I did this out of middle school graduated with a high school diploma and two Associates degrees.
These kids out here in my area are graduating college with dual Associates, while earning their high school diploma. They go on to obtain their bachelor’s two years later. 20 years young teaching with multiple degrees.
Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses (the program I was in, which is a step above AP) are college-level classes that qualify towards credits.
We have to do better informing our community about these opportunities, people…

My son just graduated from high school with a high enough GPA for a full scholarship to his chosen school, and thanks to the college courses offered through the high school, he already has a head start on his journey of becoming an educator. It's not "graduating college before high school" cool, but it's still pretty cool to me.
