Douglas Miller was born on December 31, 1949 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania as Douglas Lee Miller, and was reared in the church singing in the choir. He went to the University of Akron, who while there at the college Mattie Moss Clark, trained him how to hone his craft, and presented him at Midnight Musicals put on by The Church of God in Christ. He became known for his baritone timbre of his vocal acumen and prowess.
Douglas Miller has not only made his mark as a singer, but as a successful musician, composer, recording and performing artist, and most recently, actor in gospel musicals.
His gospel musicals include, “God’s Trying to Tell You Something,” “Lord Save My Children From Destruction,” and “Secret Lover,” co-starring Ms. Melba Moore.
His albums include “Douglas Miller and the Texas Southeast State Choir” (featuring Dr. Mattie Moss-Clark and which stayed on the billboard charts for 157 weeks); “The Joy of The Lord Is My Strength” (which went all the way to number one on the billboard charts); “I Still Love the Name”; “Unspeakable Joy”; “Sing Until Morning”; “Victory”; “Living On The Top” (featuring a duet of the title song with gospel great Shirley Caesar); “Live in Houston” (which earned him a Grammy and Stellar Award Nomination); and “Do Not Pass Me By” (which gave Mr. Miller the distinction of being the first gospel artist ever to have a song on the American Music Awards when it was performed by M.C. Hammer in 1991. Other songs such as “Unspeakable Joy,” “Worthy is the Lamb,” “I Want to Be Holy,” and the incomparable “My Soul is Anchored” have all become mainstays in gospel music.

Amen. Who's here in 2023 and I got my praise on...God saved me in 1977 and He on blessing me and I keep on blessing Him. Nothing but love. I'm reading the comments and just learning my brother is already with the Lord. His voice those songs..my son said My Soul Is Anchored is the best song just before the Word is preached..I concur.

7-29-2022 and this song still minister’s to me. We will have suffering times, but when we see Jesus oh what a glorious day it will be, no more Trouble, heartaches, grieving from loss love ones and being abused and talked about it will be over..

This song takes me back to 1982, a little pentecostal church I used to attend in Richmond, VA. Sweet young lady name Sister Dee would sing this song and the spirit of God would then just take over. Such wonderful memories!

Thank God for blessing us with Douglas Miller. His music will always be among my favorite. "I love Him" and several of his songs were sung by choirs all around the country. Actually this song was written by the late William Nelson Clark of Cincinnati, OH. As many other young musicians in the COGIC, he traveled and sang with Dr. Clark and others. He wrote the portion (I've learned how to live holy).
