In this video, we briefly go over the history of Cardistry. There are a lot of details that we wanted to cover but to keep the video concise we ultimately decided to leave a lot of those out. We hope you guys found this video helpful and informative and if any of you have any questions feel free to ask us in the comments!
With that said, we would like to give a special thanks to Antoine Thomas (aka Ryoma) for providing us with information and helping us fact check our video.
For those wondering whether we have the right to use these videos, we believe that due to the nature of the video being a commentary for educational purposes that we are following the "Fair Use" principle that TH-cam has outlined.
*As for the Handlordz tournament in 2005. What basically happened is that a tournament was held but due to accusations of one of the contestant cheating, there was no winner. And so after the tournament in 2006 was completed, Handlordz has called that tournament the "first" ever since. So we decided to go with that, instead of explaining that there was kind of a tournament in 2005 but there was no winner.

I was kind of afraid to click on this since almost every "history of cardistry" videos or articles are usually completely wrong and not documented.... well, you guys did a great job: this is one of the first video on the subject that is really on point with no mistakes :D congrats guys, keep it up!
Thanks Dimitri! Couldn't possibly go wrong with the help of Ryoma :)
This is something the community REALLY needs. You guys really care about the community and I hope everyone can see that. Would've liked to see the big competitions that led to CCC (CDM and WKC) mentioned but still what an amazing video.
We mention competitions and CCC in particular in another video coming up really soon! (maybe tomorrow)
Oh shit that's great!
The best information video of cardistry. This show how strong and incredible the cardistry community is.
As an old man who doesn't really do Cardistry but really loves watching it, I keep forgetting how very young it is! I always liked the flourishes magicians would perform more than I liked their card tricks, so I'm glad Cardistry has grown so big, so fast!
Oh man, this brings up so many feelings. Awesome job with this video series! can't wait for the next one.
This was fantastic! I would love to see an even more in depth and longer video with more details! But that’s for the future and thank you for this
Please make a long documentary-ish version of that video. That's so interesting! :D
^^
We kept this one short to not overwhelm newcomers. But we are definitely considering doing a longer one in the future!
Awesome! :)
@@lotusinhand can we do cardistry as a job
WELL DONE! I feel you covered the main points in Cardistry history. Great to see it all back to back 👌🏻
We remember those days, but not everyone does. Thanks for making this.
I just discovered this channel. I love it. Great content and everything else
Hats off to everyone who gave their best to this art..
Hats off to the person who made this video and kept all sweet history here together...👍👍✌️
Pretty short but sweet video. I was there near the beginning. Back in 2003 you could count on 2 hands how many took it seriously. It slowly grew and we all grew with it. Even thou Brian Tudor is the biggest wetwipe in our community he's still one of the biggest influences that Dan and Dave had. And without Dan and Dave it never would have blow up the way it did. Between db squared and the virts. Those 2 companies really ran with it. You can separate every other company apart and rank them but our gods are the Virtuoso team and the Bucks. Anyone can flourish with practice but only a small % of us truly understand it. I may start a series of videos myself explaining everything but I'm not sure the community wants to go down that rabbit hole lol.
Very informative, so dope!
Awesome, I always wondered when it started
This is something the community really needs finally a channel different from dealersgrip Fontaine cards , ...., where the beginners can find instead of the common tutorial also the information of the history of this beautiful art named CARDISTRY
Vincenzo Scipioni yup! We hope people find this slightly untraditional type of tutorial helpful!
Yeah I remember in my first days when I struggle-looking basic tutorials
I watched this with a smile. What a great informational resource and initiative, LotusInHand! =D Looking forward to more similar content.
Sir, your concept and handling is so cool...👍👍👍👍👍keep it up
This series is awesome
Totally on point and well presented. :) Salute!
Please keep doing this type of videos
We have a series of videos that are narrated like this coming up!

this channel is informative
thanks
This is really amazing.
I downloaded this video to show my friends who don't do cardistry. ....
Awesome video, would have been cool to see the old .thecuso mentioned in it somewhere, and how fast the art has grown in the past few years thanks to instagram. thank you for this!
Alejandro Portela glad you enjoyes the video! TheCuso was definitely a huge part of the Cardistry scene from 2007 onwards. There was just so much information to cover and, to be honest, we did miss a couple of important things including TheCuso, Essential Cardistry, and CDM&WKC. But if we do make an extended version of this video we will be sure to include all of these!
I love this community
dude this is great
I love your videos.. This one is cool!!
Best video ...😍
This was cool, i didmt know most of this...
Great vid...but how could you leave out “The Virts?”
How do you write this and then make it as a video? lotusinhand's Cardistry Bootcamp feels like NatGeo. Very inspiring
Where can i buy a copy of that encyclopedia of card flourishes? The only site I can find is something that looks like it was made in like 2002.

Nice but I think you're missing a bunch of early credits. Sorry but this didn't start with Brian Tudor.
We are so happy to see your comment on our video. We only went as far as crediting Tudor because that is the earliest project we can find that just taught card flourishing. Could you please tell us who you think we missed before Tudor? We would love to add that if we ever make an updated version of this video.
lotusinhand Thanks for replying. Its my opinion that you should look up info on guys like: Jerry Andrus, Edward Love, Joe Cassari, William Kalush, Gianni Matiolo, Joey Burton... I could keep going as there are a whole bunch more. I believe the new generation of cardists should learn more about the shoulders of the giants they stand upon. 😀
something like this for magic pleaseeee, or link me to it....
i started 1 week ago :)
Welcome to the art! :)
thank you!
I am having trouble deciding if I should keep doing magic or be a cardist I love both very much but im still stuck
People who are going to comment on the and say cardistry because im on a cardistry channel lol
Just do both lmao
