I watched this movie 3 times already, and the movie team worked really hard on everything. When you start watching a movie, you feel Chamkila and Amarjot singing in reality, and Diljit and Parineeti have done an amazing job on singing and acting. Chamkila is my all-time favorite singer. Imtiaz sir put more than 100% in this movie, and people can see the results. Congratulations 👏 to the whole team, and thanks for taking me back to old memories When I'm playing Chamkila on my tractor in India.

I don’t think he’s a hero. But being murdered in cold blood just for not succumbing to the bullying of those trying to censor him - that’s probably why people consider him a rebel and legend. They should have just left him alone, and discouraged people from listening to it. Encouraged people to stay away from things considered unlawful in their religion and culture. I also didn't know about this,before this movie...so I read lyrics of his songs available online.....husband's brother and bhabi, jija& sali, all the pure family bonds are normalised as sexual...! How can someone sane in 2024 accept this as art????? Our punjab had greater personalities on whom a movie could have been made,but the director manipulated this chamkila's character v nicely that people have turned blind eye to these simple facts! Chamkila might have been v talented but his mind was extremely filthy to make such dirty lyrics with 0 respect for women calling her 'rand', or depicting her body parts as mere sexual pleasure things! There are legends among Punjabi singers as well whose lyrics try to give good morals to the society...non Punjabis need to listen to GURDAS MAN JI...his each and every song is about social welfare and awareness!
