Definitely stoked for this. As a kid I had the Prima guide for the original, which included the game's script, and you could see all the places where what Devine and Landeros envisioned ended up constrained by budget/tech limitations. Notably the script referenced having multiple puzzles per room and having the puzzles you solve affect the environment, which never happened in the 1993 game but which we can already see here. Looking forward to the rest. I hope there's a new rendition of Skeletons In My Closet for the credits.
Ya, even though I am not a fan of this type of gameplay, the environments and utilization of VR are well-conceived. I could see myself exploring the mansion for hours while swatting the butterfly away.
Ohhhh gosh I genuinely hope the Volumetric Tech here starts a FMV renaissance for games! It looks fantastic, and it's only going to get better. There's so much fun potential.
this looks danged incredible. i'm never gonna own a vr headset so i will just enjoy it vicariously through you. but wowee it looks real, real good. i hope it does well and they do the 11th hour and 13th doll too.
Last century, when stores had big fancy videogame displays i saw the original playing on a cd-i, blew my mind. Not sure i like new (demon?) Stauff, the old one was such a great grubby lil goblin villain. Feeling...looonely?
yes so far this looks really fun. I've played the original many times, and I really like what they did with the remake. The new version of the soundtrack is quite nice too. The puzzles seem ok. All in all it's off to a good start.
wow, I somehow managed to miss out on this entirely up until now the mfing 7th Guest is a VR game now - i think this single fact alone just reframed a significant chunk of my perspective on life wtf is even going on in 2023, wow
Wow actually color me impressed with those FMVs interfacing with the VR interaction. It's like watching a stage play as you're walking around the seats, and already the actors feel like they're on a stage play by the way they act. Very quaintly nice on this one.
I hope there's more references like the cake to come. And as an aside, the notes look real. Just not the normal reserve notes we use nowadays because of the red stamp. But still legal tender.
It's cute, I like it. A great opportunity for you and your Columbo like clutzing & futzing to parper(!?) over the cracks in a videograme user experience - albeit *_: (_* sans kissing. That's a very *_KILLER7_* esque moment at 27:39
Don't like Stauf's redesign. He looks and sounds too normal save for some of the interactive snippets. Everyone else actually looks more distinct now. I remember getting confused on who was who in the original. I DO love how they made you have skeleton hands, like the cursor in the original game.
That volumetric video tech was literal science fiction only a few years ago. Seeing it successfully implemented is amazing.
"Movies you can walk around in" might actually happen in our lifetime, huh? Never would've expected it.
@@ardenharan2201 unbelievable that its going to be possible. who ever could have imagined?
I love the little skeleman hands you get in this

This honestly seems really well done. I'm looking forward to the rest.

Oh thank God they did not replace them with better actors
That would've felt wrong
Immediately in love with the presentation of this game.

The sheer amount that went into this is unreal
Wow this is a blast from the past.
Seeing old games reimagined or remade in VR is my favorite thing about VR for sure
"Is there a painting with palm trees?" he says while looking right at a painting with palm trees. Oh, never change SGF.

Hahah Joseph Ducreux paintings! Absolute legend
The way they did FMV in this one is quite impressive!

I've been enjoying this game myself. Love all the little interactive details. Lotta fun.
oh my gosh I didn't know there was a 7th Guest VR! I remember playing the original when it released and I was sooo scared at the time

Great work thus far, man.
That Volumetric video is really impressive
This looks so well done, excited to see the rest of it. ❤
10:37 I see the house has a hard line to Dial-a-Pun

Which way should I go now?
I just kind of realised this, but 7th guest in a way gives me weirdly enough vibes like, The House of Fata Morgana.
This is awesome.
HELL YES! Can't wait to see all of this!
the fmv looks soooooo good! lmao I can't believe I'm saying that in 2023
It's like if The Witness was in VR and had FMV.
The other October playthroughs haven't been clicking with me but I'm optimistic for this one.
Yeah, 7th Guest is the right mix of spooky and whimsical for Halloween.
This is great

Yeah, this Stauf looks more like a venture capitalist than a mad toymaker.
i mean... you couldn't just "port" the 7th guest to VR. That game did not run in a 3D engine. It had to be remade from scratch.
Yeah, he says that right at the beginning
What a bunch of baby puzzles. Was the original like this?
Some definitely were, especially towards the beginning. I remember at least a couple being downright inscrutable though.
