  • The kitchen cabinet where we store our pots and pans was in desperate need of some organization help. So I cut out the center stile and added some full extension drawers!

    I can't see any reason why you trimmed the sides of the center face frame you removed..... Its driving me nuts trying to figure out why you did that

      @@christinacutlass1694 ???? It was attached to the door... You always have to close that one first

    Dude my mind is blown. I love the idea of the drawers but the fact that you took the center piece and attached it to the door to keep the look but gain functionality is genius!

    Such perfection.
    Professional tool usage, accurate 'transfer' measurements eliminating numerical transposition errors, very safety conscious, foam & bristle brush usage from an expert craftsman. What a wealth of knowledge in one sitting.
    Thank you soooo much!

    I love watching wood working projects & this one is exciting because I can do this. Granted I don't have all the tools you have, however seeing the easy ways to cut, install with those templet strips gives me so many ideas. Thanks so much for sharing this.

    This is genius for smaller/older homes. It's my dream to do this to my cabinets because they're so narrow when separate, would be so much more useful to open together. The other videos of customizing and expensive bulky cabinetry doesn't work for everyone. Just wish I had the talent and tools to do this 🥺

    Thank you. I want to do something very similar to a bath vanity for client. I'm looking to add three drawers on the right side and use the existing door for the drawer faces. The existing cabinet does not have a center support. If I add one, then I have something to fasten to on that side for the new drawers to fit into. I really appreciate no background soundtrack. Thank you for that, I like the way you work. I am subscribing today.

    Rather than rabbeting the bottom in, consider putting in a dado and then under the bottom shelf run a piece of perforated steel, from side to side. Having had 1/2" shelves with pots on them for 20 years, the 1/2" shelf in a rabbet will bow eventually. Using the dado gives you 1/2" to slide in a piece of steel to support the shelf. pots and pans are heavy

    • @danielmyers5338
      @danielmyers5338 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Normally I would agree however, he used a piece of 3/4" thick birch ply for the bottom - it's plenty strong.

      TBH that cabinet does not appear too wide. We have 45" wide 'uns and I 'd be careful taking them off. But he is patient, exacting and talented. Great tutorial for sure.

    • @kylej117
      @kylej117 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've thought the same thing. I was wondering if I would want to reinforce with a board on the inside just above the opening, but I think that center piece doesn't really add to much in terms of structural support to begin with and the counter top above probably disperses the weight anyways.
