  • MSFS is a great low cost supplement to polish up on the old flying skills.
Knocking off the rust would require an actual flight no doubt. Never the less, its fun in MSFS
    Thanks for watching!

Longitude are lines East or west of the Meridian in Greenwich England, Latitude are the lines North or South of the Equator.

      Hey, thanks, my friend!
I appreciate the kind words and feedback.
Actually, I feel like speaking in my videos is a weak point of mine.
I feel like communicating to others what i'm doing is not a strong point of mine, for sure.
      So thanks for that!

That's cool. I have actually flown in and out of that airport a bunch over the years.
I have a cousin who was a professor at the MTSU aviation school for many years and another cousin who lives in the Boro..

Careful with the Navigraph MSA values. Obviously, the FAA sectionals are fine but the Navigraph IFR/VFR charts are not. If you go to Flagstaff-Pulliam Airport, you will find the mountain just north of the field is not taken into account and the MSA values are much lower than necessary thus putting the pilot at risk. Fortunately the FAA charts saved the day, If I remember correctly, the Navigraph VFR and IFR charts have an MSA value of 11,100 for the area, but the highest peak just north of the airport is much higher than that. Do not solely rely in Navigraph. For the USA, we have the FAA sectionals but for the rest of the world we only have what Navigraph shows us - and as the above example shows, their values are not necessarily correct.

      Thanks, that's nice to know!😃..
I only use Navigraph for the videos I post, really.
I prefer to use my phone or tablet with the apps that I have.
They're FAA certified for real-world use, and it's what I actually use when I do fly for real.😊
However, I haven't figured out a good way to get that displayed on the screen for the video recording.
So I guess I'll just stick with Navigraph for now.

@@BlueSkyPilot. I was sure you're not relying on Navigraph in the air (IRL) butc rashing to a mountain is no fun, not even in the sim-world. Also, we are paying a lot of money to Navigraph so we want quality and accuracy. :-)

I used to love flying the sim. Then I got my private, instrument and commercial tickets and I just don't enjoy it anymore. It doesn't feel real to me. MSFS for example, I end up using left rudder on takeoff. And it seems impossible to get the airplane properly trimmed.
Maybe the trick is using autopilot to fly the airplane so that I can focus just on instrument procedures.

There is certainly no replacement for actually flying.
Personally, I wish I could fly more often.
But I enjoy flight simulation as a hobby.
For me, flight simulation gives me the opportunity to go through the motions, so to speak procedurally.
Just to kind of keep things fresh in my memory.
As well as with the so-called study level aircraft put myself to the test doing things in the simulator or should I say allowing things in the simulator to happen to the aircraft that otherwise I would not allow happen in the air in a real flight.
I'm talking about reacting to emergency situations.
There is enough in the simulator that is close enough to real-world situations that it could save your life as a pilot.
I enjoy being able to put myself in these situations in the simulator and deal with them in a simulator and react to them rather than have it happen to me in an aircraft in reality.
Those are just a few things that I enjoy out of the simulator.
But I couldn't agree with you more. Yes, just practicing the instrument part of it.
      That's a big for me!
You know ideally, even as an instrument rated pilot. We strive to make good decisions on weather flying.
It would seem like even on an instrument flight on most days. It's just popping in and out of some fluffy clouds and nothing too serious.
I avoid flying in low IFR conditin reality.
I am not a commercial pilot, so I'm not forced to make flights in such situations that would cause me to make many flights into low IFR situations.
In flight simulator, I really enjoy putting my face into the cockpit panel and going from point A to point B without ever looking out the window once except for taking off and landing.
It really does keep things fresh for me on instruments.
But there really is nothing that can replace the sensation of doing it in reality.
Not to mention the sheer panic you get as a pilot when you know you start to fall behind the aircraft in and out of IMC conditions.
For someone who doesn't actually fly a lot of low IFR flying, it can be helpful.
Thanks for checking out the video and commenting.
From one pilot to another, keep the blue side up or at least be aware of it when the blue side is down! Lol.

@@BlueSkyPilot. instrument rating: train like your going to fly in the clouds all the time. Actual instrument flying: approach can I get 10 degrees left to avoid the cloud?

      @1dullgeek
      🤣 yup!...
We train like hell so we can bust through the clouds and the first few times you do it you get thrown around like a rag doll. It's kind of like, nope, I don't really want to be doing that anymore if I don't have to!
I get it, man! Been there done that..
Maybe that will change one day. It'll be nice to get paid to do what you love.😉
