Your channel, the people here and your interviews and your skill level in electronics are just over the top humbling. I grew up putting myself through electronics working on CBs and TVs & all that in high school. These guys that you are interviewing are some of the distant mysterious voices we grew up with hearing every day in Michigan on CH6 and CH 11. We casually hated them, we insulted them, made fun of the style and we just thought of them as "hillbilly ish" people in life blabbing their mouths off nonstop and unable to hear when I was a kid. A bit later still as a kid I got into ham radio packet/digital and then professionally as a Motorola systems field tech for a few years. And just thought of CB as a lower form of life then or something not worth putting any time into. But no, these people, and your abilities as a technician and ability to communicate are a total class act all the way into the next life. I'm blown away and humbled beyond words. 53, still a big kid, learning new exciting things and growing up a little more every day. CB was some of the best times I ever had growing up and learning about RF. Take care. Thanks for what you are doing on TH-cam. It's one of a kind it's awesome and I'm super happy it's here. this is what ive leaned from... the old dawgs they couldve talked on channel 6 but didnt want to...i got out of it for 20 plus years but getting back into it...so i know how to build a station...and i will...lol 73s from alfalfa in south central missouri.. thanx bbi..
Hey BBI thanks for taking the time to interview some of these old CBers I love watching it brings back old memories and i also enjoyed talking to you over the phone ill look forward to having you build me a box if you ever get caught up
good afternoon bbi my brother this is 96 coolbreeze the number two man in Iowa I am 63 years old and the story of 3 double 0 I got my Forest radio I been in it all my life
Good Afternoon BBI. I must say I am enjoying these interviews you are doing. I have listen and learn alot more about antenna and amps. The littlest thing can make you station talked big. Thank you for the knowledge. BUG aka 654 Las Vegas, Nevada
wow you are really good, i enjoy watching your channel..you know what your doing and talking about.. (i was in radio in the 70s at 13 years old shooting skip ) im glad to see that after all these years radio is still alive and well..
My start off was a Cobra 19 Ultra III with an antenna mounted on my plastic luggage rack...even after running a mobile audio business for many years I still didn't know RF and in my logical DC mindset are that Antenna only had one Connection(It self) by looking at it....OMG ran 4 months like that with only getting responses from truckers until I got close enough one day to a cb er then I pulled over on the side of the road and took notes for an hour. BBI this is an idea in a way that I thought of a long time ago that it wud be sweet to be able to interview all of the big ops and build like an online 11m Super Bowl QRZ lol.
I appreciate this video. While do think BBI talked too much during the interview and interrupted 300 too much, I am really glad this interview happened.
I really enjoyed this interview BBI thank you so much really put a tangle down my spine to want to learn a whole lot more and made me realize I don't know nothing but I'm going to 477 Northeast Ohio and I'm gone
Just recently got suggestions for this series. And my God, this interview was truly inspiring and worth more than I can express. Thank you BOTH for this opportunity to be one in the audience!! (Reminds me of my elmers)
At 7 years old I installed a cb in my bottom bunk so i could talk to my dad when i could. (Parents divorced) . 1972 cb was the game i would sit and listen and learn. now 2021 and the game still continues.
Great interviews BBI. 3 Double O , much respect my man. You spoke of the need to continue the hobby and get new blood in the game , and comms and electronics in general. After watching your demeanor , attitude and history , I started thinking right away that you sir , with your Faith as well have a story to tell to inspire and help the youth get interested. Have you ever thought of Public Motivational Speaking ? You should. Attentive eager ears can be reached in many places , and an interest or something to strive for besides drugs , violence , and jail or worse. From starting with your own ambition , to working with aerospace and nasa , tighten it up and hit the key areas and pointers with lessons to learn inbetween. I think many schools , churches , groups and functions would be Blessed to have you come. Many folks of all ages would be fascinated , and hundreds of youth reached. In turn , I promise , you would be amazed at how many Blessings that would be to you as well. Something to think about , pray on it . Been a couple years since this posted , hope you are doing well. Boogyman 785 in the Sunflower , hope to be up myself again soon!
Great interview 3 double 0, I’ve been in law enforcement myself just a little over a decade now, glad to see another radio operator who bleeds blue. 73 from the Ground control station👋🏻
Late 90s I went to a break in Houston. I was a 14 year old white kid and my mom dropped me off..those guys where some of the nicest to me and learned a lot from that break.
Love this kinda content. At 52, it's nice to see people with my "upbringing" in the spotlight. This cat reminds me of 90% of the people I grew up with and his views are just plain nostalgic.
Oh I have so been waiting for videos like this!!!!! Keep em coming BBi........ and 3 double 0, waving a hand in the NW corner........ long time listener catchin skip on old 4 pill keepin it old school.
Brother. Can you make the audio into podcasts? I’m in love with these interviews of amazing people. It’s inspiring. But it’s killing my battery to keep it open on my phone.
Well I'll be damned I started off with a Radio Shack mobile antenna too until I was introduced to the Antron 99 and then beams and amplifiers from that point on
My first antenna was a radio shack with that same tuning harpin looking thing on the side of it. with four ground plane radials coming off the bottom of it rated for something like maybe 25-50 watts. Burned the first set of finals out of my radio because I knew nothing about SWRs when i was first starting out. Learned the hard way and have been doing the same ever since; might be why they call me Sparky too. WWS030/WR3330 Gary in Rogers, AR. I run 370 lsb through 27.9999 on SSB. MOst likely find me on 385 lsb to 370 most of the time.
Man! After watching this interview with Mr three double 0 like eight times i realize that i have wasted a goog part of my life by not being a good man. He and i are the same age but somehow i just didnt ever understand how a great man thinks and acts and treats people. I always had my head down, going to work, not living a full life. If 3 0 0 was in front of me right now i would thank him for his example and tell him that from now going forward i will strive to be more like him and i hope i will become a good man like he is. I only posted this in the comments hoping that he might see it and know that i was thankfull for the things i learned that had nothing at all to do with our radio hobby but with life in general. Thanks three double 0 from the Drag'NFly in tennessee. 73
All I wanna know is where is the app😊. I've asked some of the "bigger" gents on 025 for a lead into this sort of thing but the response is not watt I hoped for. I've got two children and generationally stuck with small town feelings. Maybe this is an escape/ destiny/ way to make it.
Really enjoyed this guy's. Great attitudes! Mr.3Double0 Super KOOL. I'm Suprised you guys are using gamma matches. I would have thought your beams would be wire fed Quads. Thanks BBI♥
Give me a chance to get my name called 3 double O. You most definitely command respect on the bowl. Been a fan since 98. My great uncle was a bowl champ and I didn’t realize it looking at the vintage equipment back in 81. Put it on ya later , Treetop diesel wagon and this Roadblock technology just got down.
Wow. 3 Double -O really IS the most interesting man on the west coast ! This time just flew by ! I am sure I could listen to him for at least another hour ! The man is nice as he is humble. Even 3 Double 0 learned the hard way how to not smoke an antenna. Slowly but surely the history of the Superbowl and the legends on it are being documented ! Would love to know when the first time CH 6 was used for the way it is now and how that Channel got picked out of all the others. 1200 SC fallin' back.
Best interview of anything or any subject I've ever listen to. 3 double 0 l could sit and listen to you all day. BBI I have learned a lot from you watching your videos. Sometimes when you get caught up if you do get caught up I need to order a straight 8 mobile. You guys take care. 42
