Carstairs to Millerhill. A trip over Cobbinshaw summit and the Edinburgh Surburban line.

This video was filmed about 5 years ago and is from Carstairs in Lanarkshire to Millerhill (Edinburgh). The route goes via the summit at Cobbinshaw at 880 feet a.s.l. Before descending down towards Midcalder an then traversing the mainly freight route of the Edinburgh surburban line round to Millerhill Yard. This was filmed in November 2016 and apologies for a few bits of low winter sun down the lens.

Carstairs used to have a really nice station building, shame it was demolished and replaced with a modern bus shelter type effort!
At 45:40 our flat at Bonnybridge drive hasn't been built yet, you just see the sand/cement silos!!

I notice you are switched one to the right, through the platform line, then round left, while the straight through from just before Carstairs runs past the yard and rejoins at 4.44. Is that chord disused?

No, that is used but is only a through siding and is 5 mph. Whereas the normal route is through the platform.
