    For a longer lasting paint job -- consider adding a clear coat spray after spray painting, or just going all the way and getting it powder coated if you want a more gig resistant paint job!! Shout out to the viewers in the comments who recommended this! Once I've used mine for a while, I'll upload another video with an update so you can see how the paint has been holding up!
    Hope this helps someone. Thanks for watching!!!

    I spray painted my QSC tops and EV bottoms bc I didn't want to spend 4K for new white speakers. Everyone loves the way they look and no one can tell I painted them myself. I have a pair of these lights too but I didn't paint them bc I used tubes but after watching your vid, I'm gonna paint them. The only difference is that I'm going to paint the screws for the front paint also so it looks completely white. Thanks for taking the time to do these videos!

      Hey man thanks for watching! Wow that's special that you sprayed painted your speakers! I was also thinking about that possibility after I did these lights. That's great how people can't even tell you painted them yourself!
      You can definitely also paint the small screws in the front! I was just lazy to do it separately lol and also was worried since the screws were so small, that I would block the screw thread itself if I sprayed it too much. As long as you keep the layer of paint light on the screws, it should be totally fine!
      I just subbed to your channel too man - I saw you made a lavish booth too and it looks amazing! Thanks for the comment

    I did mine white when i bought the hex when released , i took them apart . i highly recommend just getting them powder coated cause paint will last longer . that spray paint will flake off especially if u didnt sand before painting them

    • @MrMaui38
      @MrMaui38  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching and the comment! That's really helpful to know, especially since you did it yoruself! Unfortunately I hadnt gotten anything powder coated before so I didn't think of that, and also some people mentioned putting clear coat, which I didn't think to do either. Once Ive gigged with these more I'll put out an update video showing how theyve held up and if I need to repaint them, I'll definitely consider powder coating or at least clear coat!!

    • @DJKDTRNX
      @DJKDTRNX 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @MrMaui38 clear coat will help but hey will still flake if u get one hit on them. I suggest add foam to whatever case or bag u gonna store them in. You could had also gotten them wrapped.. they look good tho I've gotten so many compliments from other djs

      @@DJKDTRNX thanks for the heads up man!! After hearing this I'm planning to be super careful with them. I've got a padded bag and will throw some extra foam in there. We'll see how they last!!

    Bro 🔥 well explained. I wonder if it would be easier to just cover the led lights with paper or tape and spray paint over it ? That way no need to disassemble the whole front it looked like a hideous process and the need of patience which I dont have much off 🤣. Great vid!!

    • @MrMaui38
      @MrMaui38  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yo bro thanks!! Hahaha if you don’t have the patience or don’t mind it looking a little irregular because it won’t be exact, it’s an option! I will say though if you tape the lights in the front, you’ll also have to cut the tape by hand to fit the lights 18 times since there are 18 lights, which also will be a decent amount of work. Also even after that work, you’ll still probably have some black around the LEDs since it’s really hard to line it up and cut it by hand an exactly each time haha (I tried with my IR4s so I learned lol) So since it was gonna take time anyways, I just decided to go the route of taking of painting the face plate separately to make it look nice!
      Either way the process with the face plate is the most detailed part and might not make it worth it for some people lol it’s a good project tho I’d say overall that step took me 1-1.5 hours!!

    you need "2k clear" after the base white coat. it makes it bullet proof. spray paint alone isn't enough. you never have to paint again.

      @MrMaui38  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching and the tip! That's a great idea for longevity and I'll definitely keep that in mind if I have to re-paint these in the future!

  • @vincestyles1030
    @vincestyles1030 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    You basically took the entire light apart why didn’t you just bring it someplace and have it powder coated? It will last forever instead you went the cheap way and spray-painted it. 😂

    • @MrMaui38
      @MrMaui38  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for watching! That's a great thought and definitely an option! I've never had anything powder coated, and did this as a DIY at home so I didn't think about that. Glad you mentioned it though!
      If the spray paint doesn't hold up to gigging over time, and I end up having to redo it, I'll definitely consider powder coating next time! If someone wants to powder coat theirs, they can still use this video as a guide, but there are a few more components inside that you would have to remove as well to completely remove it from the shell. You’d also have to remove the screen, buttons, inputs etc on the back, which adds some work too. Thanks for the idea!
