Aah yes, The multitude of spot welds, brings back memories. I rebuilt a series 3 bulkhead a few years ago with my son. I was fortunate to build a on a new chassis that another son had abandoned. I used YRM parts ....perfect fit, only two bolt holes did not line up at top of footwell. The metalwork was a snug fit. best wishes
Best thing since sliced bread ? No. Best thing since Mike's dismantling tool ? Yes ! Used every day here.
Excellent!
Quality Land Rover fixer. Excellent. 🎨👍👍
Many thanks!
The series 2 stuff is Super work by a master
Thanks
I'm seriously impressed by your repair jig Mike! Surely you could sell the plans? It would save hours and hours of measuring and eliminate a lot of uncertainty when repairing serious bulkhead rust repairs.
I could do but it would be tricky
Great work done. 👍🏻
Cheers King Mike. 🥃
Thank you! Cheers!
Think that's bad Mike, you should of seen the rear valance on my Allegro... Apprentices first day on the spot welder jobbery hahaha. All the best Joseph
Sorry to hear that
With all those holes and subsequent weight reduction, there should be improved fuel economy! Nice work Mike. 👍🏻🙏🦘
Hope so!
Your regular not so subtle sales pitch for the dismantling tool has finally got to me, I’ve placed my order. I feel it impossible to work on my Defender without one.
BTW, your international tracked order is an amazing service, it’s giving an estimated delivery date of 2 weeks ago.
Good video very interesting thanks Danny
Glad you enjoyed it
that jig is one of those tools you don't need every day but when you need it you're glad it's there
First time I have used it in 10 years!

It might make a tidy retirement sum for you. 😵💫🙈🙏🦘
And to think that these are the simple bulkheads.. imagine once the pumas start rotting out.. since I fixed my rotting s2a bulkhead I always wondered if a bunch of us old farts couldn't come up with a better design.. no captive bolts, easy removal of wings, no rain water retention system of hollow areas... But what a brilliant jig you have Mike! Wish I had had one like that.
How many have you repaired over the year's? As I mentioned before my wife would like a land Rover, I'll let her start watching the videos lol ,well at least I have more insight than before 🍺🍺
Looking good Mike. Just goes to show that even with a jig, it's still a mess about with after market parts. And yes, someone was having a proper giggle getting the masses believing that those masks would stop an airborne virus (if there was such a thing in the first place). Even says they don't on the box. The cloth ones were even better.
YRM next time! (if there is a next time...)
These masks were to stop you spraying contaminated aerosols on other people, not to stop you breathing germs in!
Great work Mike 👍 been welding an old BMW 5 series, rear jack point. Bloody nightmare. And it's on a driveway. No lift 😭😭😭
Sorry to hear that
Mike, do you have to remove all the surface rust on the old parts for fear of it growing in the near future. Just wonder how meticulous you are with that. Thanks!
Depends on how bad it is - usually a polish with the die grinder does the job
It looks like somebody was just learning how to weld and decided to really try it out
Door piller is there a different froms2 to s3?
No - they should be the same
are you rebuilding another landy mike
No it is a friend's
@@BritannicaRestorations cheers mike
Did i hear you use the B word in the last video when describing where the parts come from? Ove here the B word is usually pronounced 'shitparts'. Maybe THAT'S your source of pain. I had a set of from wheel bearings for my 300TDi Disco for the mot. Then 12 months later another set. The problem was, the Disco only does about 2000 miles a year as it's only used for fun, not commuting. The year later, when it needed ANOTHER SET, i purchased a set of Timken bearings anstead of the two previous sets of shitpart bearings that had been fitted. They lasted for a couple of years until the rear axle started making horrible noises. It was on the way home from collecting a used axle to replace mine that i'd bought from eBay that the gearbox gave up. I managed to get the Disco home and park it. In my search for a replacement 'box i bought a TD5 D2 instead.
I sold the D2 about four weeks ago. Maybe it's time to find another 'box for the D1?
