So the humans pleaded to Parvati, Shivas wife, to stop the demons and as a result she became Kali to represent her destructive side since Parvati was general more peaceful, Kali was able to successfully and violently defeat the demon invasions but she became frenzied in bloodlust and out of control and began purging the mortal world of sinners ruthlessly collecting the heads of bandits and thieves and killing those who sinned. Eventually people realized that she was out of control and brought shiva to lie down in front of her, amidst her frenzy she stepped on shiva and when she realized she was stepping on her beloved husband she calmed down and returned back to normal.

I am Pagan. Ex Christian. I believe very much in Kali. I pray to Her regularly and I have to be honest and say that never before have I felt so spiritually enriched. And protected. I no longer fear physical death. But Neither have I forgotten that it is important to choose right over wrong, good over evil. I feel I've finally found my spiritual path 😊

Goddess Kali represents the rage of shakti or the feminine aspect of the universe as such there is nothing dark about her. Her tongue is depicted as stretched out as to not allow the blood from raktabija's head to fall on the ground.
