This one really hits home in a lot of ways. I think many of us had a similar upbringing. Parents speaking little to no English while we spoke broken Korean (or whatever language). It made way for the language barrier to develop even if it was minor. I feel like the main issue was that we were raised in America and became so acclimated with the culture while they kind of just stuck to what they knew because it was difficult to get used to. It became difficult for us to understand one another. Our motivations, our goals, our ambitions. I'm sure that this main difference was the root of a lot of stress on both parties. I hope that we have all found a way to solidify that bridge in our relationships with our parents, as I have. I gave my parents a lot of shit and I caused them a lot of stress, and they did the same for me, but in the end we still love each other and I am lucky to be able to say that my relationship with my parents today is stronger than ever. Love you all. Stay strong and keep moving forward.
