I just had the pleasure of learning about Bisa Butler in my art history class. I am captivated by her work and can't wait to attend one of her exhibitions!
I went to the exhibition today at AIC today. All the artworks by Butler are stunning! Very powerful. I see the human dignity from her work. If you are in Chicago, go to see the exhibition!
I am Peacock Proud of this artist! I celebrate her this day! I had the distinct pleasure to view her quilted portraits at The Art Institute Chicago and could not hold back the joy, pride and tears as I stared into the eyes of each character created. Ii was intense. I too have roots in Ghana and am a graduate of Howard University. Look at God! A divine meeting!
Been following her on instagram for awhile, but to hear her talk about her art education and see all her quilts up in that gallery was amazing. Excellent video. Truly amazing quilts.

The majesty of Bisa’s work is beautifully told by the cinematographer here. Beautiful work on both sides of the camera. lighting, framing, composition, camera motion, camera angles, lens selection, depth of field, zoom, focus, color, exposure, and filtration. Great visual storytelling. Really appreciate the inspired work here - thank you
Bisa has a natural gift. I’m sure the training and education helped but the talent has to already be there. The use of color and intricate detail is beautiful.
