I made your pasties and they were DELICIOUS! We had never had pasties before, we are in America. Pasties seem to be similar to a savory empanada, or a calzone, which we've had before. My store didn't have leeks, so I used a large sweet onion and it came out perfectly. Definitely going to be going into our dinner rotation. Thanks!

$190.64c in Australian dollars for your shop. I believe you bought a lot for this price. Getting those items on sale would have helped keep the cost down. I like how you have a meal plan. I must say I’ve never used a meal plan, but you’ve inspired me. Those homemade pasties and sausage rolls looked very delicious and so easy to make. It’s my pay day tomorrow. It's so interesting to see the grocery prices in different countries.
I live in Tennessee, USA and meat prices are going higher and higher and it's getting harder to find any sales. However, vegetables are still cheap. My mom lives in Czech and it's opposite for them there. Vegetables are getting really expensive there while meat is still keeping its prices.

I love your no waste approach and I believe that is the right approach to everything in life. Thanks a lot for this video and all the information you share so generously. And since you love questions, I would like to know how you deduce that prices are expensive or not. I say this because some prices you share are really economic compared to my country (meet for example). So, do you compare the proces in France to the ones you paid in the UK? Or do you compare them to the prices you used to pay when you arrived in France? Thanks again.

I just started pre-cooking beans (aka "Pulses" in mycrockpot (including white, black, and garbanzos), freezing the cooked beans in 2-cup servings and just throwing them into things like soup, casseroles, and stir fry dishes. Pulses are supposed to be very healthy for the body, but I am not particularly fond of them in dishes where they are the main feature. After listening to one of your earlier videos, I am also adding Mackerel back into the weekly menu. Mackerel is not sold at my Aldi, but I can buy it at another nearby store - because I really do need to pay attention to getting the fatty fish in our diet at least twice a week. I had to quit eating tuna because it is so polluted. Thanks for all of the inspiration. I love to come and learn from your videos how you handle the challenges we all face. I agree the cabbage and cauliflower are a great size for the price. Here in the UK the veg seems to be quiet small this winter. I bought a Savoy cabbage in my last food shop it was less than half the size of yours and cost 86pence (1.03€) cauliflower is always more expensive than cabbage and usually smaller. To get my moneys worth I put all the outer leaves from both cabbage and cauliflower into my soups.

One of things about food prices in France (compared to Italy) that I remember Is a communication written in the bar of the last truck stop on the border, between Italy and France (Frejus),mentioning the price of One coffee/pack of red Marlboro once you 'd crossed the boarders😁. It was nearly 20 years ago..Anyways, the inflation have increased here too.. Right now I m baking bread and cooking tomato sauce which are going half in the freezer, and I'm also making more soy yougurt by adding soy milk to the yogurt left the jar.

Hi Jane and Michael. Thank you for the inspiring videos. That's a good food haul. Our food here in South Africa is more expensive then in Europe. I grow a bit of veggies to stretch my budget and cook with less meat and more beans. I like that you have said that we have to get creative with what we have, that is what I do as well.

Lovely cooking today. I always buy extra toilet rolls when we travel to France; just looked, in Tesco (own brand) are around £2.00 for 4 rolls. I make sausage rolls with the leftover puff pastry. I always make shortcrust but never puff! Great meat bargains in Lidl, did you go early as usual? (just wonder when they add 30% orange stickers) p.s. always buy Toulouse sausages, so cheap and huge!

Hi Alison, if you want the offers and discounts, you have to be by the door when it opens. There was a family in front of me running into lidl and grabbling the reduced sticker foods. Good on them for making the effort.
