Thriving Business - Creating a Sharepoint Site for Client Collaboration

- In this video, I’m going to show you the steps to create your own brand new Sharepoint site, ready for you to add content to collaborate with clients. The process outlined covers working with Sharepoint and Outlook, both using Microsoft 365 on the web.
Microsoft Sharepoint lets you create the foundation of an intranet site that you can use to add Microsoft 365 elements to (like Planner, OneDrive, Forms and documents) so that you can collaborate with your client in a secure and professional way.
I share how to create the Sharepoint site, and then add your client as a guest to your site in Outlook on the web.
Being able to create a secure intranet site for each of your clients is an excellent way to compartmentalise your client work, and give your client direct access to your shared content, without any security or privacy issues. It also looks incredibly professional!
Are you looking to work smarter? A Microsoft 365 Business subscription gives you access to over 14 apps that all talk to each other, and let you streamline the way you work. You can compare the plans available via this link: click.linksyne...

This was very helpful as I was looking to set up a client collaboration site and you covered all the issues. Sound was much better when I connected headphones.
Thanks so much for your feedback. This video was done quite some time ago, when I was still starting out with my channel. Glad it was helpful though 🤓
Very useful, thanks
Glad it was helpful! Cheers, Marianne
Is there anyway of the client setting up a username and password to access those sites? So it's secure?
What a great question - one of the best options would be to make that site's admin settings the option that allows existing guests to log in to access the site. That way they need to verify their identity with a username and password each time (choose that instead of the 'everyone can access' option for sharing the links!). Cheers, Marianne
Thanks, this is great. So, do you have another internal set of folders for internal client work on another site?
Yes, I have a standard folder structure that I use in my Sharepoint sites that clients have access to, and then I have my own Sharepoint site for 'in progress' work that I don't share with clients. In that site, I have a folder for each client, and I put the content into the client accessible folder when it's time for review or handover. Just to keep things safe 😊
Does the client have to log into the site? or how would they access it?
Great question!
When you invite your client as a guest, they get a notification with the link to view the site directly. Then, depending on your admin settings, they will either need to log in with their own email address to verify their credentials, or simply use the link to open and join the site. This setting is the same as your OneDrive settings to allow the links to be accessed by people outside your organisation. Check out my video showing you how that works here: th-cam.com/video/wXiuC5lX0oM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Yd-_l_DPVe5EqWXt
Hey, thanks so much! I'll check it out.
I'm looking to build a customer portal kind of sharepoint site. Would you be able to help me with that?
Hey Shan - absolutely that's something I can help with. The best thing to do would be to get in touch via magic@thriveadmin.com so we can chat some more! Cheers, Marianne
poor sound
Hi, and thanks for watching. This video was put together when I was first starting up on my TH-cam creator journey, so I'd like to think that my newer vides are better quality. The content though, is still really useful, so I'll be keeping it up here to help share that knowledge. Cheers!
