    Great way to use up the mountains of scraps we always accumulate. I might even prefer scrap quilts anymore. I just finished a log cabin quilt with jelly rolls for a Christmas gift for a great granddaughter.
    Excellent beginner pattern!

    Hi Erica! I am a brand new quilter and wanted to tell you that I am loving your tutorials and info videos. This particular video was the easiest to understand for making the log cabin blocks that I have seen so far. I actually took notes and added them to my 'how to" binder so I know how to cut the strips and how many to cut for the size quilt I want to make. Thank you so much!

    I earned years ago that the history of the log cabin quilt is if you give a log cabin quilt to someone, the center block should be red. This represents the heart of the home❤️

    Erica I want to make a “log cabin” I have made Christmas table runner with log cabin blocks - for some reason I have been nervous about making a quilt - I think I’m “scared “ of locks being wonky - you now have given me the push to do one 💗

    This is awesome. I’d have to make it larger as grown children and grandchildren have queen or king sized beds. No problem with this pattern, add blocks and borders. I would love to make a bookcase quilt and a photo one. Also the attic window. Any time you’re bored, sitting with nothing to do (LOL), feel free to do a tutorial one one or all. My daughter has murder mystery books published, so being able to put HER book titles in the "bookcase," would be amazing…

    So pretty. I’m still struggling with learning to quilt. I’ve made one log cabin quilt top jelly roll. I don’t really know much, just trying to learn. I like that you have background material also. I really enjoy watching your videos. I’m in my seventies and had never learned to quilt. I don’t really know what quilt design to do. I’d love to try to free motion quilting but a little afraid I’ll mess it up. Thanks Erica. You’re a great teacher.🌹

      I too, am learning at 66 yrs old. I'd convinced myself I hated sewing in high school. I still only make quilt. Have finished 7 tops, and have a tote of ones I want to "get to." But there are a lot of resources in TH-cam. That is how I've learned. My sister has sewn all her 75 years (haha) and I showed her something the other day. If you want suggestions on other instructors, let me know.

    Great quilting on the long arm. Have you thought about pantographs? I love the variety of patterns, and it is so easy with the back handlebars. Love the quilt!

    Thank you for the free pattern and tutorial. I recently seeed a free pattern from fat quarter. I got batting that was thick and not fun to work with. What kind of batting do you use? Where can I get it?

      Hi Kathy...For a new quilter picking a batting for a project can be so confusing! So many choices, im sure there's lots of help on TH-cam for tutorials on types of batting to use depending on what kinna affects you're trying to achieve, but if your looking for something thats easy to machine quilt something that will say on the label of the package as low loft will be a good start. And there's lots of resources online to buy batting and of course try to search out local quilt or fabric shops, good luck and remember finished is better then perfect!

      @@erica_arndt once I can thread it and figure out the auto needle threader I think I’ll be ok. Tried to do a couple of drops of oil in the 6 holes, I squeezed the oil bottle and nothing came out. Yup I took the cap off. Going to go play with it tomorrow.     I took a quilting class & made my 1st quilt. The log cabin block taught me to respect the 1/4” seam. My first block ended up too small. I had to cut out a new quilt block. Beware!!!

      Yes, but the good news is that with this block, you can just trim them all the same size. Even if it's a bit small as long as they're all the same you're good to go!
