I made a pin that thick before and put a safety pin on the back to distribute the weight more evenly, but even then it angled downward. So the magnet was a good call, it looks amazing! 🧡
You could still sort of use this as a pin! Let’s say you stick a magnet somewhere else, maybe the inside a bag pocket or something, and then put the pancakes on the outer flap of the bag packet, (with a strong enough magnet) it will hold in place and you’ll have a cute bag pin that you can switch around with other magnet charms :) 😊
Have you ever considered making needle minders? The magnet just needs to be strong enough that a needle can stick to the front of the piece and then you need a second non-glued a magnet to fasten it to the fabric you are stitching on. People that do various embroidery crafts use them. A second magnet would also mean you could use this like a pin on materials where you don’t want to make a hole. People that embroider love having cute needle minders and your art is adorable!😊

Yeah, that pin would for sure need multiple contact points with butterfly clips which I personally don't like. Magnet all the way!
If that happens, you can always add a second pin or safety pin at the top of the charm so it stays upright! Hope this helped❤
