Enjoy it in HD!
It's in one peace, because of this awesome jam between By the Way and Scar Tissue. You will understand after you watch it! ;)
By the Way starts at: 0:00
Jam starts at: 3:35
Scar Tissue starts at: 4:25
Lyrics:
By the Way:
Standing in line
To see the show tonight
And there's a light on
Heavy glow
By the way I tried to say
I'd be there... waiting for
Dani the girl
is singing songs to me
Beneath the marquee... overload
Steak Knife Card Shark
Con Job Boot Cut
Skin that flick
She's such a little DJ
Get there quick
By street but not the freeway
turn that trick
to make a little leeway
Beat that nic
But not the way that we play
Dog Town Blood Bath
Rib Cage Soft Tail
Standing in line
To see the show tonight
And there's a light on
Heavy glow
By the way I tried to say
I'd be there... waiting for
Black Jack Dope Dick
Pawn Shop Quick Pick
Kiss that Dyke
I know you want to hold one
Not on strike
But I'm about to bowl one
Bite that mic
I know you never stole one
Girls that like
A story so I told one
Song Bird Main Line
Cash Back Hard top
Standing in line
To see the show tonight
And there's a light on
Heavy glow
By the way I tried to say
I'd be there... waiting for
Dani the girl
is singing songs to me
Beneath the marquee... of her soul
By the way I tried to say
I'd be there... waiting for
Chant
Standing in line
To see the show tonight
And there's a light on
Heavy glow
By the way I tried to say
I'd be there... waiting for
Dani the girl
is singing songs to me
Beneath the marquee... of her soul
By the way I tried to say
I know you
From before
Standing in line
To see the show tonight
And there's a light on
Heavy glow
By the way I tried to say
I'd be there... waiting for

Close your eyes and I'll kiss you 'cause
With the birds I'll share
With the birds I'll share

Young Kentucky girl in a push-up bra
Fallin' all over myself

With the birds I'll share
This lonely view
With the birds I'll share

Sounthern girl with a scarlet drawl
Wave goodbye to ma and pa 'cause

With the birds I'll share
This lonely view
With the birds I'll share
This lonely view
Soft spoken with a broken jaw
Step outside but not to brawl
Autumn's sweet we call it fall
I'll make it to the moon if I have to crawl

I've watched this concert so many times, I'm able to recognize some guys from the crowd in the street if I see them.
+André Moura HAHAHAHA. Epic
+André Moura I saw you yesterday on the street bro. Nice green jacket and RHCP shirt.
Best show!
+fishyfishyfishy fishy same here bro so fuck yes.

By the Way 9/10
Scar Tissue 9.5/10
That transition 11/10
One of the most legendary Chili Peppers concerts in history
Agree❤
One of the most legendary concerts of history and I'm not even an hardcore fan
It's more like 100/10
Oo🎉p🎉😢oʻoʻòjj@@cawwcorez13
I love that instrumental transition from By the Way into Scar Tissue.
I wish I could get my hands on that bridge between the two songs. Heaven !!
ronil vanza The riffs are not that difficult but that emotion and perfection is an impossible act to follow
ronil vanza i know it might be able to find it for you if u havent got it already
Rislundman That would be awesome if you can get it man !!
ronil vanza /watch?v=iddhwyC0r3s
The problem with this clip is that now everytime I listen to By the way on Spotify I expect for it to turn into Scar tissue and get disappointed
Exactly same
Right?
Put scar tissue in the queue😂
@@andreasantinelli7213 not the same thing, my dude. Not the same thing...
@@heitorcoutinho4462 ik
That transition between songs perfectly illustrates why they are, and will always be, my favorite group.
Cockriel D they should turn the transition into a real song. i figured out the bass line to it. its so fun and relaxing to play after a hand fatiguing song like by the way
That transition remind me a little bit of Fortune Faded, actually!
+Kételin Gomes yeah me too \m/
I find it very similar to Nothing to Lose.
Cockriel
I'm a guitar player, and whenever I feel like giving up I just listen to RHCP and focus on John's guitar playing, and it reminds me of why I started playing in the first place.
Keep playing. You’ll get good. Blessings.
Same here! It just revigorize my soul
Same bro
keep grinding that shit
I play too and I’d give both testicles (I’m 51 my work is done) to have 1/100th of his talent.
That last solo in Scar Tissue is fucking beautiful.
Agreed
ThePizzaBoy381 all hail john
The second one was beatiful, the last one was a masterpiece stolen from heaven...
ThePizzaBoy381 IKR now THAT'S what I call a Johngasm
His tone sounds like a guitar that's crying. So much emotion and such beautiful hopeful melodies interwoven
Just Can’t believe This Guitar Is Coming Back This 2020
ELMO LO VE TODO I guess he just “Can’t Stop” playing it!
Coronavirus: Nope
John version of Dark Necessities should be great
Ivan Ivanovitch Ivanovsky I doubt he would play any of joshes stuff
@@pepperjo4812 and why the fuck would he not? u know they have an album together john and josh? It’s not like john hates josh but the other way around? Ofcourse he is going to play joshs stuff too
Fun Fact for those of you who don't know: Flea is wearing this skeleton outfit as a nod to John Entwistle the legendary bassist of the who. He always wore crazy stuff and this was the most famous outfit he wore back in the day. It warms my heart seeing flea appreciate the greats.
thats crazy cause i was just thinking about how much flea sounds like entwistle during by the way
He followed in their footsteps, and now he’s the greatest bassist alive today.
@@justinh3421 he is really adaptive. Funkadelic, Larry Graham, Punks, Jazz greats are the basis of early Flea. But By The Way takes on a more classic mostly new-wave touch, just in the nature of avoiding blues for that record to have it's full sentimental sound. But Flea obviously needs to rock. Entwhistle is a great, and The Who is very straight rock since the beginning.
@@justinh3421 one of the greatest for sure.
Flea is the greats
6:27 John's guitar tone sent a shockwave that sent Anthony backwards
lmao
LMAO
That's nothing, the guy at 4:05 died cause the music was too good. Blue shirt
@@eskimonkey9262 Hope that man is OK lmao
HAHAHA
"Hello Ireland, welcome to Slane!" I get goosebumps every time I hear this. I hope they know they made this world a much better place that day.
I think they knew
Yesir they did.
They saved lives with this energy! Never gets old
Every band has their high water mark. When the night is perfect, the venue, the crowd, the vibe, the sound and the performance and the relationship between the band and their audience. This was the night where everything fell into place for the RHCP. A truly magical evening 😌

Yah this was the one for them
Even the weather and sunset
That one dude in blue at 4:05 literally passed out from all the awesomeness he was witnessing
Hahahah great observation
lmao that blue shirted guy. Never noticed that before.
Well spotted!
I like how none of the people behind him cares
Can’t blame him
john was unreal with that solo at the end of scar tissue....
IKR!
3:23 Look at how John lie his head into Anthony's back. Man, this band is just so fucking good. What a very beautiful music they've left together with John and now with Josh.

Waow. Hahahaha
And now with John again 😭💕
With john again
My proudest moment in time is looking back 30 yrs and playing RHCP BSSM Album every day loud as loud can be for my son who turned 30 today, and his a solid Chilli peppers fan. My job is done. To inspire creativity within my son is a legacy, he is a very talented musician, I bought his first guitar for his 12th birthday and the first song he learnt was under the bridge, maximum respect.
My son his a 8yo fan of the chilis, well done buddy!
As far as I'm concerned, John Frusciante (and to a lesser extent the entire RHCP, but seeing as he's not with them anymore) is/was the only musician who continued rock and roll from the 70s in the purest form. When it was just about the music. And the talent. And the soul. And the passion. You could plonk him on the stage at Woodstock and he'd be not only in his element, but in no way, shape or form different to this very day. He makes hardcore love to the guitar and everyone's ears everytime he picks it up. A legend like we most likely will never see again.
that is deep and so true
this is the truest statement on TH-cam
*Hats off* Legend truly never fade
well said....not only that but a brilliant songwriter and vocal harmonist....I understand why he wanted to leave rhcp and he went out with a bang with a double album stadium arrcadium which is full of some of his best guitar work but idk why he abandoned guitar and is obsessed with electronic music which has no soul to it no human interaction...he is such a great writer I am hoping his next solo album will be the real froosh not that techno trance...idk he is one of my biggest influences and just want to hear his real art.
+Mike pepper agreed wow..;)
guy in blue passes out @ 4:05
+Kerim Atay WHAT HAPPENED?
+Zafer lold so hard
+Zafer the music was clearly to much brilliance for his mind to handle.
The solo killed him.
lmfao dude was like "take the wheel jesus"
Anthony killed it with he's vocals this whole concert.
Love him.
always

I get so emotional listening to this version of scar tissue. Especially during those Frusciante solos... it puts off such a powerful energy through the speakers. Can’t imagine what it must’ve felt like being there in person.
Probably unreal. I will see frusciante for the first time this year. Can’t wait to feel it

When they're on they're really on. This gig was the perfect storm. Everything came together for this gig, from the mixing, singing, timing etc. John and Flea displayed the most symbiotic bass and guitar combo I've ever seen. They have an unsurpassed creative chemistry together.
the most breathtaking bridge between by the way and scar tissue!!!!! thank u john
Don't forget Flea.
sharadadevi nanjundappa Umm Ummm uh! He's the world greatest!
God damn johns solo at the end of scar tissue legit gave me chills. I wish I was john.
Fingers like steel!!!
+TheMijify you aint lying. That man is resonating on a completely different dimension with that guitar. All you can say is wow....
+TheMijify Is very short the list of guitarists who plays with soul. John is one those.
I like the little end g of by the way
+Francisco Avila lol yes john lennon john mayer john frusciante john ny cash ^^
I was at this gig and John was God like in his playing and angelic in his singing. Everything about this gig was/is magical. One of the best gigs I have ever had the pleasure to witness. There just ain't enough superlatives to do it justice. John is a genius, the band are awesome
I noticed you said 'one of the best'
out of curiosity, what would be your number 1?
That has to be the best transition, John is a magician
My two favorite songs in one video. This FUCKING version is my favorite.
everything about this video is perfect!!

amazing how many people were there, there arent many concerts anymore where you can hear the whole crowd singing in unison, simply amazing
This is the holy grail for RHCP fans
John's scream at 3:15 always manages to blow me away. Even after the hundredth time watching this.
This concert seems so freaking beautiful

Two insane guitarist, one insane drummer, one insane vocalist = Perfect.
u mean one insane guitarrist and one insane bassist?
insane vocalist? come on guys, I love rhcp too but let's be realistic....
janithemani lol that's true
janithemani yeah thats so true, his lyrics are good but his vocal capabilities are pretty underwhelming
Insane vocalist? Maybe not... Insane frontman? Yes definitely
John's scream at the end of By the Way..
Petey Goddard this scream and the one at the end of wet sand at Fuji rock in 2006 are my 2 favorites
Anyone here after Frusciante announced to rejoin RHCP?

well this indeed aged well since theyre world touring :))
That priceless moment at 6:33 ,when Flea is smiling ,looking at John while soloing... !
+Nature Lover actually flea missed a note, and he actually thought that John will react
+Bandulf McLennon hehe actually Chad fucked um a little and flea laughed:p
Bandulf McLennon Yes, I can hear it. However, this doesn`t really matter the reaction is important here. Their attitude to each other - love.
one day i will get to see these live and then i can die happy, best band in the world.
+AirForce576 loool
+Kayla Jameson you may see them with Josh Kinglofer or whatever his name is, it's not RHCP anymore. Sorry, I feel you :(
+Manolo Kañyboard So you're saying RHCP wasn't RHCP until 1989 altough it existed since 1983? And RHCP didn't exist between 1992 and 1998? RHCP wasn't RHCP for the 12 years (excluding the 7 years since 2008) John Frusciante wasn't in the band? lol
+TheTwicey i totally see what you mean, but i intended to say that the best rhcp and the rhcp that makes you fall in love is the one with frusciante on the guitar. I know there are different rhcps (every disc is totally different) but its impossible to feel rhcp now as you would have done with frusciante
I feel the exact same way, by the way
Best transition between two songs in music history
HE'S BACK PEOPLE. This absolute God of guitar is back in the Chili Peppers 😭❤️
I've never seen fans of a group love a guitarist as much as chili pepper fans love john it's absolutely amazing he's the man
Because he's the greatest ever. I love how much we love and appreciate his talents. He'll only be recognized when he dies, unfortunately.
+Devoted2Mariah totally agree my friend
This is one of the best performances by anyone, ever. Man I know this shit in my sleep, I watched this so many tines over the years since my early teens that it would be impossible to count. John's solos in this version of Scar Tissue are pure bliss, TO DIE FOR. I love when Flea looks at him at the end of the second solo like he didn't see that coming. Pure perfection and very hard to beat.
Everybody talking about John but nobody pay attention to the variation that Flea did in the chorus part at 3:04
Yes, I did! Often times I'm listening some of their songs just to pay attention only the bass part. Flea is great!
Woahhh! Yeah
Its amazing! That is exactly why I come back to this video! Its not there in any of the other audio or video or concerts!
so true!
one of the concerts where everything is perfect and beautiful. The band is in a great moment, the audience is great, the sound is great, the season is great, the camera and angles are great, everything is great!
That guy at 5:25 throwing his hands to his head like "OMG hear dat solo!"
He's definitely not impressed
Uooow, true
You made my day
I was at this concert and many years later I can still say it was the best live performance I've seen by any band
am i the only one who still cant get enough of this bridge?
This will always be the best version of scar tissue. John is insane
This show is awesome. Anthony singing is great, John backing vocals are amazing, and everyone is just so great. I feel lucky that we got to have such a perfect show filmed and immortalized damn.
Mejor que cualquier película, para los que aman la música
Goosebumps every time I hear this fantastic transition to Scar Tissue... omg it's so amazing
This was how concerts used be. Look at the crowd so engaged and vibing. Not one smart phone in sight.... Don't have concerts like this anymore...
So much talented and ability. Red Hot Chili Peppers forever great!
I mean great concert but I have been to at least 3 in the last few months with more crowd energy than this
6:34 Flea can't belive the awesome solo so just smile and think "omg he's so perfect"
Love you Flea
I know as a whole the Chili Peppers are an incredible band, and each member gets their recognition, but I think CHAD SMITH doesn’t get nearly enough recognition, he’s one of the most rhythmical drummers out there
The problem being that drummers and bassists gets very few moments of their own. Rhcp still is an exception
@@sibayandutta7816 I was lucky enough to see them august last year. I’m a drummer too and smiled to see Chad get like 3 drum solos between some song transitions. He’s on my Mt. Rushmore of Drummers. Some musicians lose their soul in music as time goes on, I can’t say that for Chad at all, I feel he’s only gotten better.
Chad is on Rolling Stones best drummers of all time and he’s a ror hall of famer dont feel bad for him hahaha he’s a legend
I rate Chad, Flea and John all as some of the best at their respective instruments since the 70s.
Esse solo do John é surreal, meu ídolo total na música, o que esse cara é inteligente é surreal

This has to be their best filmed concerts. Watched whole thing many times over, never gets old!
I just love Frusciantes vocals
in this same concert john's vocals in under the bridge are just insane at the end of the song
