Jo Jo Mayer Yeah!!!!! Man I wish they did this more often! I mean, when I was growing up I used to spend a fare bit of my time trying to find out about my favourite drummers set ups. Unless you went to their clinic's, you would find adverts in the mags with the cymbal set ups, but, having you're favourite drummer discribing their own set up in their own words is priceless! And I'm sure everyone are learning these grooves while they watch this. Thanks for the upload!
Cool way to think of the China "like a distortion pedal." - never thought of it like that. Very interesting guy and approach to drumming. David Curtis Drumming
He is endorsed by Sonor but I am pretty sure he is not playing a designer (SQ2) in this video. That finish, Midnight Fade, is only available on the Force 3007 line, which is a 9-ply Maple but made in china. I have the same set in the Jungle Kit configuration, with a 16" bass drum, which is what this looks like.
@supersim1993 he absolutely is he pretty much brought the live drum and bass scene to america. He's also the first guy to even try to play the engineered beats on an accoustic kit. Hes a legend
The Picante Hand Crash was the inspiration for the Omni. He wanted a cymbal like it without such a thin edge and that he could also ride and crash. Thus, came the Omni.
His sig ferce ride cost about £400 in english money. I am quite sure it's the best ride money can buy, but I would never pay £400 for any cymbal no matter how good it looks or sounds. But Jojo is an anmazing player and this was very handy to see.
@PositivelyBored Yeah that might be true. But I answered someone elses question about where he is FROM! And that is Switserland! And ipso facto my statement about the musicstyle. Comprende my friend?
@carlos0on0drums I love the Jungle Kit but also have a proper Sonor Delite kit. I use Sabian cymbals - the Jojo 13" Fierce hats, the AAX Memphis ride (which is unbelievable) and a hand hammered crash. Now, I want on of those choppers and a proper China. ;)
He said, he used it to show off in a cymbal store, so where he really is on this video ;) So don't judge ) Although it's just seek, how he do this! Most extreme metal drummers are dying to have that technique in their vocab.
he changes alooot of things on his setup , the only thing he doesnt change is his hats , his ride , his china and his main cymbal , he never changes them and in fact they are always the same position.
Jo Jo Mayer Yeah!!!!!

Also love how he has the two sets of hi hats next to each other. Very cool!
David Curtis Drumming
Behind him, the hoop crasher 4 years before they release it to sell hehehe.
when you watch something like this you really appreciate the technicality of the pros playing

I love the way this guy bobs and bounces when he is playing lol it is so fun to watch him go
He's so good that when he plays, the Air conditioners shut up and listen
@supersim1993 he absolutely is he pretty much brought the live drum and bass scene to america. He's also the first guy to even try to play the engineered beats on an accoustic kit. Hes a legend
this guy has so amazingly much knowledge. he is like prof. dr. mayer, man that´s awesome!!
Jojo is the frickin man. Love his china cymbal groove! Who knows where to get his Nerve albums? so hard to find.
wow.
the bell on that crash really cuts through.
love sabian cymbals.
The Picante Hand Crash was the inspiration for the Omni. He wanted a cymbal like it without such a thin edge and that he could also ride and crash. Thus, came the Omni.
wowww
that place is heaven !!!
I agree, he has very interesting ideas about drum sounds.
Oh yeah man.
Jojo ftw.
He was born for this! 4 Drumming
I love the sound
new drinking game!
every time jojo says "like" you take a shot!
@CrustyDrive Not all of them HIS cymbals are the Fierce Sabian Vault series. that is about 3/4 of his set
i notice he has 2 new additions to his set up, but i dont think he needs them , i like the way he can get enough sounds out of a smaller set up
That Hi-Hat just kills¬!
@CrustyDrive
No, these are Sabian's. Its the Manufactory of Sabian!
@jwaters004 he's clearly in the meductic sabian farm house. it's written just above your comment.
Jojo Mayer: "You can really excite it with your fingers."
Me: "That's what she said."
5:40 so yeah who needs to use two hands to get 32nd notes or 16th notes on hi hat!!! JOJO you beast
damn hes rockin the slacks.
I wish jojo would do a tour of his drums as well as his cymbals...
that techno stuff is amazing :O
His sig ferce ride cost about £400 in english money. I am quite sure it's the best ride money can buy, but I would never pay £400 for any cymbal no matter how good it looks or sounds. But Jojo is an anmazing player and this was very handy to see.
@AfterlifeBlack It's funny how there's certain [vague] words that drummers always have to use to describe something.
I think the Zen china is good for techno drumming.
@poncho2211 it's because he's in sabain's factory
jojo you are sick man
@jackthedrummer96 Yes, JoJo took that cymbal back to Sabian and developed the Omnis with them based off of it
I can just do this (performs something totally fucking unbelievable)
LOL that he missed it at 7:00 haha!
Haha yeah i notice that too
The thing is that this guy would be able to make b8 cymbals sound incredible.
@Jabarichonicles How about that hehe. He is from Switzerland. Who knew right:) He rules the drum n bass drumming. Must be a big musicstyle over there.
@PositivelyBored Yeah that might be true. But I answered someone elses question about where he is FROM! And that is Switserland! And ipso facto my statement about the musicstyle. Comprende my friend?
@DylanTheHammer That's push-pull. Some CRAZY ass push-pull!
@carlos0on0drums

Question, can anyone just walk in to the sabian factory in canada and see a tour of the place???
5:39 haha check out his "buddy rich secret weapon" video! it's funny, he says he doesn't really use it in his playing
He said, he used it to show off in a cymbal store, so where he really is on this video ;) So don't judge )
Although it's just seek, how he do this! Most extreme metal drummers are dying to have that technique in their vocab.
@drummer4life2014 Not as thin as the Picante Hand Crash. It's called a hand crash for a reason.
he changes alooot of things on his setup , the only thing he doesnt change is his hats , his ride , his china and his main cymbal , he never changes them and in fact they are always the same position.
That Chinese cymbal is killer!
@Hammy0924 I think he's endorsed by Sonor
Watch his dvd, and you'll be able to do that :) It's not that hard.
@Jabarichonicles Hmm its strange how different people hear dialects. Im from sweden and i think he sounds like he is half french half american :)
@DancesWithNarwhals Haha yes, very vague indeed. It's amazing how much "clear" and "asjhoiahfoaerhgpih" resemble each other, no? hahahaha
Wonder who has the faster hand, Mangini or Mayer?
Tony Lee Mayer
no one really care
6:37, translated to english entirely, is a Sabian AAX Spicy Taste Hand Crash
That AAX sounds like a cracked cymbal.. a very cool one, though. And 5:39 - fuck, man! just.... FUCK!!!
@Automaticstop1
do u know what he actually is?
Check out his solos if you want more playing :)
a clever man
is 6:08 in 3's or 4's ?
Looks like Screech from Saved by the bell
if i walked into that room, id surely pass out and jizz in my sleep
i just want to run in there and grab all the cymbals i can
오우!가재트 형사 나와라 만능팔 !!

@drummer4life2014 It's alright man.
I spy a hoop crasher!

Birth of the omni
5:40... wow

Why is he my house!!!
