Stunning work, Kevin! Magnificent majesty! I'd love to be able to create compositions like this! You can sense the power of the falls as the thundering waters cascade towards destinations unknown! The sheer, humbling effects of the granite monolith that rises, almost God-like in the distance, commanding the whole panoramic sweep of the Almighty Creator's hands!
Nice lesson on value planes..good tip keeping the cool and warm colors close on palette to mix achieves harmony within the painting. Very good info in this video...I would have liked to see the rocks rendered. Beautiful waterfall..love waterfalls..

Another great painting which I really enjoyed. My problem is that I can't quite see where the water for the waterfall is coming from. It looks like it must be flowing uphill.
+L F Thanks for your comment! I suggest taking several photos and combining them into one brand new composition. This way you will not need to take 1 stunning photo. But instead go around your local area and take photos of a tree you like or maybe a beautiful sky or even a lake or pond. Then use them all to make a very nice subject to paint. Hope this helps!

+MASTER ARTIST Rachamin I have reading a lot about it. need mix some oil in paint with brush before use in canvas ? need prepare canvas surface with some special medium before start ?
+IFC I use a mix of Clear Gel medium and Titanium white over the sky area only. The medium will increase your ability to blend the colors in the sky and water. However, having a medium over the dark areas such as grass, would impede our dark underpainting. The medium would also thin the dark base coat. This would make highlighting more difficult. Acrylics present their own challenges. Look up Greg "Craola" Simkins. He paints with acrylics and gets some incredible results. Greg is more of a pop surrealist painter but I think the effects he produces with acrylics are comparable to what you see in Kevins landscapes. I'm sure that with some adjustments, you can get similar results with acrylics. Just practice and don't be afraid to experiment and fail.
Donald Mark hi, hope you've been painting. Check out Kevin's videos , he now has acrylic vids, a line of brushes and paints. Also few dvds full lessons available as downloads as well on his website. Also, checkout Wildlife and Art- he's got full lessons acrylic s and many with mountains. Chuck Black a good friend of mine. I don't like advertising another channel here however, he's a good upcoming artist. Paints realism- his method is a tad difficult and he takes a long time on one painting. Best wishes.

PASCALE MOTHES hi, Kevin uses Napthol Red..which is a cool red- blue bias....medium is a solvent free alkyld gel from Gamblin. Both can be found in his site to get more info. He uses the gel on the sky area to achieve a smooth blend. The rest of painting is done wet into wet - no medium. His method- block in darks and lights- this layer should be thin, not liquid thin..thin layer- allows for next layer to be applied. Alternative to Gamblins solvent free gel if not available in your area - liquin, however, this has strong smell and toxic thus need good ventilation. Hope this helps.
