Roger's forehand was crap here. It had declined so much from 2005. It's so obvious when you look at this match and then look at any of his matches from 2005. I still don't understand why he made such drastic technical changes to that shot. It clearly made the shot far worse
Yes, I think he expected to win in any situation. Very stubborn and that cost him a few big titles.

the outcome of this match was the knock out of Andy murray , who was actually the favourite to win here , the match to see at this tournament was the semifinal between soderling and delpotro , where they exchange huge serves and gave a spectacular three set match

how fed allowed delpo to be a difficult opponent for him will forever piss me off. He started the year trouncing delpo 6-3 6-0 6-0 in the QF of aus open. with that being said; delpo did gradually improve as a tennis player. but fed should hav played tactically better in their matches.
Rare and very requested match!
Thank you! I was one of many that requested this match
@@santirf1619 You're welcome, i know. ;)
“Man, I’d kill to see Djokovic vs. Söderling! 🔥🎾
The 2009 ATP Finals was straight-up legendary. 💯🙌”
Roger’s stubborness playing to Delpo’s forehand is something impossible to understand. Maybe an ego thing

Same goes for his refusal to switch to a larger racquet head earlier

@@Monaleenian how sway when federer all the major finals that year it's all about match ups .
Super upload of a rare match! Thank you, my friend!
Thank you mate! :)
It's great watching the matches from Federer's time. Most of the matches from today are not in the same class. Del Potro here was masterful.
The Del Porto that never morphed after injury into the player he in that season had the potential to become..
He only came to the tour to ruin Federer's US Open.
@@masters.1000Federer made Del Potro’s career. He gave away USO 2009 and IW 2018. Only Grand Slam and Masters 1000 Delpo has.
@santirf1619 Plus two Basel titles, and his Masters final.
@@santirf1619 Actually, in Indian Wells, Delpo had a Match point in the 2nd set tiebreak, way before Roger´s in the 3rd set.
@@santirf1619Sounds like sour grapes.
Did Rafa give away the 17 AO?
Delpo beat him, live with it.
Hope he gets live pain free someday soon

@@GeorgeCen Así es. Y por otro lado Roger si perdía en sets corridos quedaba fuera también. Al ganar el segundo clasificó.

he took it to Fed again after the US Open final...
Del Potro was a tough opponent for the big 3 🤷🏾♂️
@@malcolmnorman5694 agree, healthy Del Potro is a thread for big 3
6:11 you cannot teach that
Shame Delpo did not win more, injuries played their part
That play on 13.56 showed the guy's ability on his backhand side..
Massive part, he could’ve been contending for every slam
