This is already a classic. It's almost like listening to Scar Symmetry, and I love it.
All the demos for Prominy's stuff are top notch, but Javi has a way with these libraries. His mixing and mastering are also fantastic. Those drums are just amazing. Perfect demo by a skilled musician for a perfect product.
The arpeggio at the 0:48 sounds really amazing!
this is just awesome guys !!!! as a drummer and keyboarder - programmer for sequencer etc. - i often had problems to compose metal-songs because of the missing of native e-guitar sounds... i´ve been waiting for years now... but finally !!!! thumbs up !!!
Todavía sigo escuchando esto, vaya composición y dominio del vst de Javi, una pasada.
Javi is the reason why I purchased Prominy SC earlier this year... What he does is absolutely amazing!
The Fretboard Monitor is just a 'monitor' that doesn't have samples. It just shows how the other instruments (that have samples) in the multi are played. You need to lower them using the Kontakt's Tune knob. The MIDI file with the .nkm file is available at the registered users section on our website. In the .nkm file, the instruments are tuned down to -4 .

That tone is apsolutely perfect...I MUST HAVE IT!
Love that clean guitar sound, spine chilling.
I've been playing keyboard for around 16 years but can't play guitar so this is a great way for me to have good sounding guitars. I've put in a lot of effort to get good on the keyboard and just simply recording in the MIDI, quantizing and speeding it up wouldn't get the same result as someone playing it properly, or a good guitarist. Real guitars and guitarists are always preferred over VSTs, and keyboards replicating them. But these tools open it up to those who learnt a different instrument.
personally, im not into the style of most of this demo, but DO recognise brilliance in execution when i hear it! the melody which drops in around 0:56 is BEAUTIFUL!!! i take my hats off to such composotion and style changes. this javi dude does know how to place sounds together!
HARD, and worth the rate all day. now hear my SHIIIT
In a way, yes. He used something called an amp simulator. It's just a virtual guitar amp you plug into, I use them in my studio. You can look it up for more info on that.
This is what he uses on this video:
amp simulator:
TSE X30 (preamp simulator)
LePou lecab (cabinet simulator)
GuitarRig 5 (for clean sounds)
insane how realy the guitar-lead sounds with all the slides.... whoooo
LOL !!! And boy does it sound good. I can't believe that it really sounds like someone actually playing an electric guitar. Insane !!!
The first riff is so tasty.
Yes, you can just plug in notes using any sequencer and it will play back clean tones that you have to put trough distortion plugins to get a distorted tone.
muito louko , cara posta mais videos desses isso é uma notoriedade é o maximo as guitarras são reais por demais.que otimo trabalho ......
You either have to render out to the Drop C track and pitch shift the whole file down, or tune it further down with the "tune" knob in the instrument, which will make the keyboard keys no longer line up and the attack will be slowed down.
Oh my frikking gawd! ......love it!
As it currently stands, you're absolutely right. There are always limitations with these libraries that sometimes you have to work around. Even some of the greatly done tracks have a few too many robotic elements to it that just sound off. I almost never use them as a final product. They're getting better over the years, but nothing 100% replacement worthy.
You can play legato slide by holding down one note while playing the next note to connect those overlapped notes. In other words, play the next note before releasing the previous note. (= input the next note-on event for the target note to slide before inputting a note-off event for the previous note.) For further questions, please contact us via the technical support form on our website. (The link to our technical support form can be found in the description of this video.)
The tune wheel numbers represent half steps on the piano. So basically if you wanted to drop tune it to A, you would turn the "tune" knob down to "-3" since A is three notes below C. All articulations are contained within one instrument. It's a bit difficult to explain with limited characters, but if you want, send me a private message and I'll explain how things work to the best of my ability.
love the middle solo, reminds me of Marty friedman during the late 80s early 90s era solo albums. Around the time he released Dragons Kiss and Scenes. Anywho very cool composition and its crazy how far virtual instruments have come. Might just need to sell all my guitars and just focus on composition.
Thanks a lot, it worked. I'll use technical support if I have any other issues
They use amp simulators to get the distortion and fx. The clean sounds in this video are pretty indicative of what the clean sound sounds like. @Bagnitzky I think the drums are Superior Drummer 2. I've heard Javi mention that he used it in the past when Prominy had forums.
It's a good sketchbook when you're away from a real guitar. On top of that, for people like me who have had a (in my case temporary) debilitating injury, it makes the song writing process still possible. These guitar libraries are great. On top of all of this, I've heard people who knew nothing about how to play a guitar create decent stuff with these libraries. It doesn't take a guitarist to know how to write good music. :)
V-METAL is 'drop C, 6 strings'. It does not have a 7 strings mode. If you need a lower tuning, all the instruments in the multi need to be tuned down using the Kontakt's Tune knob. Actually this Javi's demowas made in that way (tuned down to G#).
Kontakt does use MIDI #CCs so yes. But it's more recommended to use Kontakt as a MIDI output and make the midi listening to the actual sounds so you can make the right articulations.
Wow, the actual songs sound actually really nice and the guitar sounds aren't bad either.
Great program, maybe the best...also epic song!
@ryujijitei thnx very much for letting me know xD definetly getting v-metal! \m/
You need to load the library in Kontakt. I use it with Kontakt 4 and it works. You can simply load the library just using the "Libraries" tab, then click on "Add library" and choose the folder.
I can't get the palm muting to sound as good as you have it here. Mine is really weak. How can you control the attack velocity of palm muting to get the real metal sound?
Yes. For details about the product, please visit our website. (The link can be found in the Description.)
The beginning is the most amazing metal riff I have ever heard in my entire life. Sell that riff to Machinehead or Slayer!
@MetalArcade Yeah. The only one dowtuned is Indjention (dropped G#)
You need an amp simulator to get distorted/clean tones. V-Metal by it self only uses a clean/dry signal. Get something like Amplitube or TH2.
Oh by the way I'm not expecting you to answer the question at the end of my last post just in case you were wondering. I'm going to ask it again on the tech support thing. But I NEED to eventually get this thing to work.
Como se hace para que las notas no dejen de sonar cuando suena mas de una cuerda al mismo tiempo en el segundo 0:48?
I've used Spectrasonics Trillian and Ampeg SVX.
Crazy good...
@MetalArcade It's an octave effect with some delay, just figure it out.
Nice!
trying to get the first two notes of this to actually SOUND like what's being played here, and I don't understand how to do it?
I would kill to look at the midi for this, I don't understand how to make this plugin djent.
Well said. I'm a vocalist, not a guitarist. This obviously isn't best used as a full-replacement for guitars, but it's best suited for scratch tracks. You know, initial ideas.
Some of us are writers, and not players. We want to be able to have high-quality tracks, too.
@DeadSecretBand, it's guitar samples so you can play it with a keyboard, a real guitar is useless here. @Kaywood Parsons, you have to turn off monophonic mode go get individual notes to overlap each other. There's a button on the main interface and @Kyu S., if I recall properly Javi uses/used Superior Drummer 2.0, maybe Metal Foundry.
wow..nice..
OMG o.O ! Will this ever be available as RE for Propellerhead's "Reason" ???????????
yeah :D thank you
it worked amazingly :)
que bueno dawn
thank you very much :D
tse x30 setting's and impulses!? amzing sound
Great this... I love it, I would like to have this program... how can I do for download it? I make music, I have been seeking something so, realistic sounds... can this work with other program? I don't know.. Fl studio? it's only example. I like work with guitar pro... can I make the sound here and then to use this program? I don't know if you understand me I wanna to say... where can I download this program and if it does together with other program?
wow !!
absolutely awseome instrument. i have ask for you guys. how did you program and record drums for this video? they sound great, what drums (library, live recording?) did you use? I would be extremely grateful for response.
V-metal vs 8Dio Progressive Metal Guitar which is better?
V-metal
That first section is fucking epic.
I'm wondering if it's possible to do any kinda tuning with this? For example, drop tunings like Drop B, or even lower such as Drop G. Also curious if other types of tunings can be used? Like Shifted/Lowered tunings such as D tuning (D-G-C-F-A-D).
Please answer as soon as you can. Thank you.
This is also something I am wondering. Does anyone know for sure? Being able to simply plug in notes and have it play back would be amazing.
To everyone saying these kinds of programs are "cheating" or "laziness": I am not a good guitar player and it's not my instrument, but I have ideas and like to write songs. I am also poor college student. So when I want to write songs and I want them to have good sound, I would rather buy this software (or shreddage) for my songs than to blow shitload of money to a better guitar (500$), better amp (~300$) and some decent recording gear just to record guitars. Am I "lazy" because of this?
Very late reply to your question, but it really doesn't matter if some consider it lazy if you end up with the results that YOU want -- and that others who may want to listen to what you record and/or perform.
It works in any DAW so I think it does. But I recommend you to use something more MIDI-oriented, like Steinberg Cubase, Cakewalk SONAR or Image-Line FL Studio.
Hah recommending fl studio with all its memory leaking problems
@ArerepReivaj I'm curious as to how you drop tune. I plan on experimenting a bit, but the "tune" knob kind of gives a sluggish attack, that would kinda ruin parts like at 0:28. Could you share how you drop tune?
We are not sure what bass library he used for this, but we don't think that it's SR5 becasue he didn't own SR5 at that time.
your a keyboard god =)\m/
Yes.
cant seen to get that sound where your playing the chords. thay don't play all the same time. even the picking part where you pick tru the shords. whats the settings
Анша Абдуль.
Please help, I can't toggle or activate the stop keys like repeat note in FL studio. By default A#0 is repeat but it performs double bend :(
Does this only work with real time playing on an instrument, or can one simply plug in notes and then have the whole section play back like on guitar pro? i do play guitar and would love to use this to aid writing but not the actual performance and recording itself.
quick question, i seen you say "V-METAL is 'drop C, 6 strings'." can it be tuned to standard tuning, like just plain ol' c standard through the kontakt tune knob?
do u know any specifics on the presets or settings for GR5 and the other simulators?
1:17 - 1:45 very good moment :-)
Jarek .Jaruss the best part !
hey brother.... can you tell me its a preset? and can you show me the preset what you use for this???? im really excited..... really real for MIDI/modul guitar... and what you use the drum sample too?? thanks for upload this....
In that first section, how did you get those djenty note bends? (not a guitar person, dunno what it's called) I can't find any way to pitch bend notes with this.
I don't understrand how you switch from open, to palm mute, and slide. Are these done in the editing process afterwards or can these be controlled live with a controller?
How did you do the mellow part. when I chord it doesn't do it. just single stringing.
i need your help !! which version of KONTAKT i can use ? it didn't worked on Kontakt 3 neither kontakt 4 can anyone help me ?
Excellent work !!
What is the drums and so for the bass please ?
which is better for getting a moroder scarface type guitar sound? this V Metal or the other previous Prominy versions?
Can you simply just plug in notes and have it playback like Guitarpro?
Question! Can it simulate 7+ strings? Or would I have to simply record using 6 in standard and then drop the tuning and do the other 1 or 2 strings seperately?
hi I saw your videos with v-metal and real eight, really remarkable, I would like to improve my programming skills realistic for the use of this type of vst.
I know creating an album with only vst instruments in progressive style
with different influences (DT first of all) and I would like to introduce some of your extreme sounds and improve the credibility of my guitar parts.
do you have same video tutorials to suggest me to learn how to use v-metal? What plugins do you think is the best virtual guitarist? Thanks and congratulations again for your skills.
Hey Prominy,
How are all these legato slides (with arrows on the fretboard) triggered?
On my v-metal, the command is sent with C-1 (single note realtime legato slide) but no arrows appear on the display and I cannot hear the desired effect.
Thanks
I think this is an incredible alternative for studio purposes, but i suspect may be tedious in its own right.
brutal
do i need a guitar plugged in my soundcard to use this vst or can i use my midi keyboard ?
May i ask which cab impulses you used in Lecab? They sound very similar to the cab sound i'm looking for. =D
Yea... It's very good question... Answer,please...Plugin/preset?....Or it's a real preamp/combo?
I have the program but i'm not able to load it into Kontact 5 and to use it...
Someone can please tell me how to load it, how to use it and how to connect it to the keyboard? Sorry, I'm a musician and would like to record a decent demo of my songs to send to someone, this program is perfect if only i could make it work, but me and this kind of stuffs are obviously not in tune!
If some good soul tells me how to do or help me through Team Viewer i would be grateful for life! Thank you!
Which drums are used in here? They sound pretty damn good.
Yes. Try guitar rig/Amplitube.
TAKE THAT MINISTRY OF ROCK !!!
Can you update this VST with 7 to 8-string? Would love it!!
People, what plugins on the first distortion???
DJENT!? EFF YEAH.
that lead at 2:45. How is he doing pitch changes?
+Rilex037 Via Pitchwheel
Please, is there someone who can help me to use this program???
