  • Me and the family were lucky enough to get up into our backyard for a couple nights. Friday brought some intermittent sprinkles, but was mostly a novelty as the bulk of the day was nice and sunny. We had a visitor after her work day..MOM! She joined for some hammock time, some exploration and then dinner and a fire.
Saturday was Moro Rock Johnson-as Bryce calls it-day! We drove into Lodgepole and caught the free shuttle to Giant Forest-which was a mess on a Summer Saturday. We then chose to leave the crowds behind and hike our way out to the Rock-which is always nice. After a successful summit we hiked back and enjoyed a nice lunch on the way. Back in Lodgepole, we grabbed some well deserved treats from the store and found a nice quite, shady spot on the Marble Fork for a soak and some chill time. Back in camp, we relaxed before fire and mallow time.
Sunday we all elected to go home a day early-Mom needed to head out for work and wouldn't have been joining for the evening-so Bryce was keen to go home with her after breakfast. I remained for a bit, trekking out to Fox Meadow and a short hike to familiar Weaver Lake for a swim before coming back to pack up and hit the road myself.
Thanks to my family for keeping me company-it was a BLAST! Thanks to SEKI, Big Meadow Campground-Penny the camp host- and to the great outdoors in general.
