I don't care whether is watching someone rebuild a transmission, landscaping a garden or a master carpenter like the samurai. There is something very therapeutic and reassuring watching the best at what they do!
You would SO much benefit from a Sauna, especially when swimming in November. I am from Finland and every cabin/cottage in Finland has a sauna, because it's so cold every winter. I have also visited Vancouver so I know it's cold there too, and rainy. Nothing beats sauna session after hard day's work, especially if you combine it with a brewsky! If you're interesting, I can point to you information how to build a proper sauna.
@@Madigan101st What kind of sauna are you after? One that will be inside a warm house as a one room. Or separate simple outdoor building that will be cold when they sauna is not heated? If the latter, have you already decided how will you build the frame? Raw timber logs or regular wood framing (with or without insulation)?
When I watch these videos I think of the song of Stefka Sabotinva Prituri se planinata , an amazing song we have a similar nature in our country so beautiful and wild you have great kids and they are lucky that their parents want to raise them this way amazing and talented glad i found this channel a few years ago sorry for my mistakes but my english is terrible
@Samurai. Our lake is beautiful and I won't tell you how much higher I've seen the water. Things are coming along and those windows are Sweet. Another great video. Cheers. FYI your neighbors are great people as well.
@Drew King that is something I'm really looking forward to... this is really more of a meditation hut or small shed isn't it? Will most definitely be an improvement over a tent for next year when more work on the lot takes place but it is really small for a living quarters.
Omg you are so lucky to have a cabin at this location! I would just row, fish, swim, bbq every day if I lived there. Unfortunately we don't have locations like this here :(
you have no idea how happy it makes me, that you get some rain on the other side of the pond too 🙂 we only get sun for an hour or so in the UK until the next rain front moves in lol! Great work on the Cabin though. It reminds me of time spent working with my old gaffer a master carpenter. He's 76 and still doing contract work everyday!
Do me a big favor and build a corner casement Window so when it cranks out it has no center Mullen . The window frame will be a right angle and when cranked close they will have a stair stepped frame side that inter locks with weather strip . I’m thinking a pair of 2-8 x 6-0s . The opening can be made with a cantilever beam back in the wall.
Amazing craftsmanship, I look forward to these episodes! The driving leaves something to be desired based on the percentage of time spent in the passing lane (100%), haha.
Got it looking good Duke. A lot of time and work has gone into your cabin. I know you will enjoy it when it is finished. Have a Blessed Day Friend. Justin
6:59 Get you some pine knots outta those woods there and you'll never want for fire starter. You can use a lot less kindling with them too. They burn like napalm.
I think the shiplap is just an interior finish. He has that thick (4”) insulation to go on the outside, then the exterior siding. That would make the windows flush on the outside and the door inset. We’ll see, he may have something totally different up his sleeve.
A nice cold swim in a lake at this time of year can really work wonders, gives your body that pump of adrenaline in a controlled way that doesn’t come often in modern life. It’s stepping into the uncomfortable on purpose, and it really makes you appreciate your warm clothes and sitting by the fire a lot more afterwards. I took a trip up to my cabin in Maine a few weeks ago, our docks are in for the winter, so when I swam it was only because of the harassment of a friend and some liquid courage… but I’m really glad I went in, despite the pain of having to wait in.
Maybe the end of January 2023, but at least the windows are built and look so good they don’t need glass! ( other then keeping the weather out that is)
13:05 That's about the only way you can get a hopper style window: you have to special order it from a private craftsman or make your own. Big companies won't make them anymore.
@@boltholeonabudget6526 I used to sell windows a couple years ago and people would come in looking for hopper windows and I couldn't get them. I was told they didn't make them because they're prone to leaking. But good to know they can be had.
I caught up with your videos after long break and I must say they're so much better than the earlier ones. Maybe because of that personal touch you're now adding in between your work? Whatever it is, watching now is so much more relaxing than it was. Great job 👍
Damn, bc is beautiful. What are those projects called that generate electricity off of small running streams from up the mountain? Awesome last minute of video.

Glass should arrive at the end of the Mayan calendar.
LOL. Mayan calendar ended before covid calendar started
Best series I have ever watched anywhere.
Nothing like getting glass for Valentine’s Day. 😍
That’s my guess.
What a place. Wow.
Your fire building skills will become "legendary" when enough viewers try them. You NAILED it!
Crazy that waters ice cold I bet! Beautiful fire too!

I look forward to each and every episode. It is such a pleasure to watch a professional work!
Glass arrives for Valentines Day.
These two dudes living the best life. Good job guys, she’s looking nice.
I got myself a kuhl new coat for the miserable English weather.
that view is beyond stunning. You can't get used to it.
What an incredible setting. And those windows looks amazing!
The best life right there man so nice to see you Wish I was younger again and new what I k ow now I'd of done this
That take on the Friends show was priceless! PIVOT, PIVOT! Lol
Real purty, real classy. It's amazing what you can do with that little hand-held circular saw.
You guys, diving in the lake was strangely very satisfying.
I totally agree,craftmanship!
Cinematic movie transition 10:17 bravo Samurai 😎📽
That’s some Wim Hof swimming there!!
17:32 -.- Relaxing around the fire...perfection.
idk if you can get plexiglass for the windows you need but its pretty easy to score and snap it into the shape you need.
Man you are living my dream buddy. Enjoy every second of it.

Missus samurai had better watch her back. It’d be hard not to fall in love with someone out there.
Master tarpenter! 😂 love a good dad joke
Sauna would make swimming in cold water much more convenient, you should build one. And from logs, not timber framed.
Glass for christmas!
Deep Snow and the lakes frozen. You will need a sled and a couple of Huskies to do the Job.
"Parkour!" @ 16:45 lol you guys seem really fun to be around. Awesome project, looking forward to each updated!
That Malahat drive in this weather 🙈🙈🙈🙈
Love seeing the cabin coming together. Can't wait to see you build the BIG cabin. That's gonna be EPIC

That land you have is such a gem. Keep the vids coming.
It really is starting to look awesome.
The shed is looking very cool! :) Crazy Canadians jump into freezing water, so what is new. Have great week.
The water is warm, our bodies are cold 🥶
Windows look great. A little insulation on the shiplap and whatever sweet exterior covering you've decided on and she'll be a cozy cabin.
Idk, I'm more of a Linux man myself
@@Reesecollins lol. Very punny.

AMAZING SPOT !!!
8:21 good times up on Brokeback Lake!
A lot of darned nice photography in this one (as well as darned nice carpentry).
Loving this series!
You and your cameraman friend have some good banter. It’s a pleasure to watch! And of course, making all the cool things.
beautiful to watch
Thankyou for sharing Jesse, another great program.

amazing how great those windows look, and elevate the whole project.
Im going to say January on the glass, but for you and your family's sake, and us the viewers, I hope the material for the windows is in sooner!
my dream is to build a hunter's house in such a picturesque place
I wonder if the samurai is going to put rigid foam insulation on the outside then a cladding to cover the foam.
Same. Framing for window has me thinking the same.
1:45; time to grow your deer camo to match cool jacket...will look majestic in wind
also keep piehole from freezing. :P
Really dig your stuff. Remember. No shave November.
Safety squints at 14:25 :D Don't worry, I use the same PPE
Oh yesss. Going to wait until the kids go to nursery to treat myself to this one!!! 👍
Really enjoying your content recently with the off grid build.
May I suggest clear plexiglass or acrylic panels as a glass substitute in the meantime.
Congratulations, they look AMAZING!
Watched the first 30 seconds and thought. Did not know he had moved to Scotland!!!

Great video. Thank you. Not too many people out there building windows on site anymore. Maybe none. I hope you'll put copper flashing on the top.
You're so absurdly talented! I love watching your new place take shape in my old stomping grounds.
What about hot-gluing some lexan in there temporarily while you wait for the glass?
I’m curious to see how you trim out the outside of those windows. Interesting choice to put the casings on the outside!

He mentioned a few videos back that he's wrapping it with 3" insulation sheeting before doing the siding
Ahhhhh, Samurai work hard. Make very good progress. Masterful and creative. Loved the video. Samurai ok man! Best Regards!
That view though!!!!!
another great project and video ... and man! that had to be cold!! : )
It was but I was expecting colder so it was a nice.

I laughed out loud at the Lion King reference. I look forward to the video dropping every week!
dream job right there
What a bromantic ending
16:40 Shrivledge...
Jessie, are you going to cap the proud horizontal upper window frames on the exterior so driving snow doesn't stack up on top?
It's almost there, dude! 😃
Fantastic work!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

I love the parkour bit at the end haha
beautiful! And indeed I am about to figure out how to make windows in my own little timber frame (12 by 12 also), so this is great information.

Very nice though will it keep the rain out? I didn't see any silicon or waterproofing?
Está ficando show de bola. Pra quem não sabe parece até que é suave na nave.
Still waiting for that Samurai vest to go into production... I'll be first in line...
Turn-around for glass is a week in Spokane. I think it would be worth the drive, yeah?
I’m assuming it doesn’t get cold enough there for that lake to freeze?
