Also with test light be sure to use an incandescent test light. The new one are LED and it most likely would light as it does not need a lot of AMP to light.
That brings back memories. I had an old 63 Rambler with a fuse box like that. A leak from the windshield seal dripped right on the fuse box and it looked like it had green fuzz from all the corrosion!
Looks like you are having as much fun with that old Chevy as I did with my '51 Ford F1. I rewired the entire panel and engine bay. Patience is a virtue that carries a lot of WAIT! Catch you on the next one. PS RV calls are slow in Southport, NC
I experienced the same problem with my car's dome light 60 years ago. Using my meter and a new bulb, I was completely stumped, although I eventually figured out that losing voltage under load was the problem.
Hello Kenny. I used to have some electrical contact cleaner that I bought at Radio Shack. It works very good. Another way to clean electrical copper contact areas is the eraser on a #2 pencil. If you have several, chuck the pencil in a drill.
Enjoyed watching - will buy a 12V test light this week since I rely on the test meter and now see how that can be an issue in some cases. Thanks as always !
Back in the day my sisters 69 Firebird had a bad circuit on the dash circuit film and since it would need to be replaced I thought I would try something. I took a soldering iron and some solder and very gentle I solder the break. It just needed a dot of solder. It worked.
I pulled the fuse block on my cj7 when hunting for a parasitic draw. When it disconnected it an everything fell apart. All of the plastic inside fell out. Had a blast rewiring the rig. Painless harnesses are great, just make sure you get the kit with terminations on it. The kit I had I had to cut and solder on every connector. Fun times for sure. The volt mtr shows current the lamp shows amps. You had voltage but not enough connection to allow for amperage. Amperage is the force.. Copper contact cleaning try a ketchup packet and a Q tip. Let the ketchup sit 15, 20 min an wipe clean. Or your old ladies fingernail files work great.. especially on old spark plugs ...
Nice work Kenny! I used to watch a mechanic's YT channel where he built a test light out of bulbs that drew several amps. He could really get a good idea of what was going on by the broad range of intensities he saw.
I like how the gauge panel was built, very simple and easy to repair. I noticed you have a lot of trophies in the shop, how did you get all those? Thanks again
You're the man, but you broke the Man Code by publicly admitting an error, even though it was funny! I used to have a 1 ton mail truck with a roll up back door. The flat windshield seals leaked so bad when it rained that it was raining under the dash where the fuse panel was. Need I say the fuse panel contacts were corroded? Everything worked fine until it rained and then the running lights and headlights wouldn't work. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. Try YT for videos on using Acetone vapors for headlight restoration. Should work for the instrument cluster plastic too.
I have a 2012 Forest Riviera mobile home on my generator. It runs very good but on my control panel it’s coming up with an error message. How can you take the error message off and put the hourly running time on

Yes. Good point.

Just a rainy morning here my friend
Really nasty here.

That sounds bad.
The first thing I thought was bad ground/resister. Well it was a bad connection, just on the hot side. Great video Ken. Keep ‘em coming.
I will keep em coming if y’all keep watching them.
Definitely Hi-Tech! Thanks for sharing Kenny!
Definitely

I am enjoying it working on it. Now I can kinda see the part where i get it on the road and start enjoying it.

I am glad I am not the only one.

Yes pencils work well too.

I think I will get one that also gives you a digital read out of voltage too.
@@hillbillyrv That's the type I just bought ;>)....great minds 😆!
This was great! Keep doing what you do! Ut's great fun!
Thanks
Funny😂 I’m the opposite, I use the rest light first, if all else the meter.

Sounds like south main auto.
owned a 73 & a 74 so I'm used to those old boys.
Happy New Years. Thanks for Sharing!

Scope on a rope always works, plus different bulb sizes can find voltage drop.
Yes
12v DC light tester is the FIRST thing one should put in their RV tool kit when putting it together.
Yes
I’m like my vehicles. Old and simple. And I like us that way. 🙂✝
Ha ha
I always use a clamp-on that can do DC amps.
Not all clam-ons can do DC amps, just AC amps.
That would work too.
Great video Thank You

Morning Kenny ya those old glass fuses can cause some problems I bought a test light with a built in volt meter on Amazon works great 👍
I need one of those.
@ just looked them up test light with volt meter super cheap
LOL, great video. Don
Thanks Don
What’s all those trophies up high on the wall ? I see 2 must haves in yer garage. The harbor freight blue grabber and that chainsaw chain sharpener! 😊
I have discussed the trophies on my behind the curtain channel in a couple of videos. Blue grabber?
@ blue extend a reach grabber.I pick up sticks with one.Yours is hanging on left side of chain sharpener.

Yes very simple. I have discussed the trophies on my other channel. Hillbilly RV Behind the Curtain.
It looks like there has been a lot of water inside that truck.
Hard to say what all has been in that truck in 48 years.
that's rv stuff its just not in a rv good video.
Right
