For example, the District of Columbia Compensation Emancipation Act in 1862, freed slaves. However, the same act paid slave owner $300 for each freed slave.
Again, who was compensated and which group (black people) were promised 40 acres and a mule and had that promised broken by the federal government.

I agree with you. I'm in my 50s and I would like to see 4 or 5 pages of a candidate's background on every ballot. Because all we know is what we see on TV about these candidates. We should know their religious beliefs, where they studied, if they are veterans, who they voted for last election, their age, their contributions to society, if they have criminal pasts, their credit scores, etc.
