    Ayy, I go the college there. Anyways, did you have to censor the faces manually or is there a software for that?

    • @JapanPotato
      @JapanPotato  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Good to know that and thanks for tuning in! The faces and car number plates are automatically censored by my own proprietary software. So that Germany‘s privacy law makers can hide into their corner and cry while watching my videos.

      @@JapanPotato thats also why it is not considered one of the more beautiful cities of Germany (like many cities and towns in Southern germany Nürnberg, Würzburg, Bayreuth or Bamberg (you should visit Bamberg if you havent already) everything in the Ruhr Area is very Industrial or somewhat new because the industry got destroyed in the war. Nowadays its one of the poorest regions in Germany but we have some of the nicest, hard working and open minded folks here and i love my hometown Dortmund for the honest and direct people i know

    • @JapanPotato
      @JapanPotato  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Many places you have mentioned I’ve never visited before but I know that they are beautiful. I will visit many of them in the near future. I also really enjoy the Ruhr area and its people. Especially Dortmund gives me so many flashbacks. Because my best friend, who passed away last year, is originally from this city. This walk highlights many places where we spent time together or took pictures together. The most memorable place was in the very last past part of my intro.

    🍎👍 Wonderful walk. Interesting that you took time to blur faces. I know that's some sort of law in Europe but I didn't think anyone followed it. Thanks for sharing. -H

    • @MrFusselig
      @MrFusselig 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In Germany this is very strict. Public privacy is very important to people and it is easy to get sued. Please check google street view in Germany. When Google started street view, many people got worried, and by court-decision, google had to censor houses when people requested it. I think this rule also applies to other countries, but in Germany people requested Google in masses for these requests, and for Google it became a difficult task to blur all the houses from different angles.
      They then decided to not further develop Google Street View in Germany, that's why there is only a very tiny percentage of Google Street view available in Germany, and you will find a lot of blurred houses when you use it.
      Same applies to videos like this, it is just very easy to get sued if you don´t blur faces or number plates of cars in Germany. Which is also important for German Dashcam Channels for example.

    • @CityWalks
      @CityWalks 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MrFusselig Thanks for the reply. This is a fascinating cultural insight. Many Americans claim to worry about privacy rights but very few would think to sue for online videos. I know the rules for filming here require consent but few would sue for a TH-cam video, unless they thought they could get money. Thanks for sharing the details. All the best. -H

    • @JapanPotato
      @JapanPotato  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!! I can’t wait to film in Japan or other countries than Germany again. Saves me so much time.. I’ll upload 2 times per day then. No censoring :) cycling tour in the morning and walking tour for the evening.

    • @MrFusselig
      @MrFusselig 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CityWalks Germans are very concerned about that sort of privacy matters. They also don´t like to pay with credit-cards that often or are cautious about data collection by companies like Facebook. But the Google Street View example is very easy to check, just open Google Maps, and try to look at Germany in street view. Germany looks almost like North Korea on a Map, because there is just a huge hole of nothingness in Street view, and the bit that is there is from 2008.

      Wow thanks so much!! 😃 so you’re like me! A lost tourist walking around in German cities 😂 oh, that’s so sad, I hope you can come after the pandemic is over to see each other and visit the places I visited. I am not sure if you can come right now, but you need to have a corona test and stay in quarantine for some time I guess. By the way, you are Indonesian right? I’m also half Indonesian 😃 Anyways, thanks so much for watching my videos!! That makes me really happy 😃 today a new video just released! Stay safe!
