Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I’ve watched so many of your videos to learn as much as I can before I begin tiling my bathroom. I have 3 bathrooms in total to do.
Hello Sal, I just wanted to thank you for the knowledge you take the time to share, your educational video's have helped me significantly to do tile projects successfully in my home, I am currently on my 4th home tiling project in the past 8 years and you are the one that made that possible. I am probably pickier than the average person, when I am out in public and see tile installation jobs with lippage and very irregular grout lines and poorly installed trim. I felt I did not want to pay some one to do such poor work. so felt doing it myself I will get the results I desire, although I am not to fast I am very happy with the finished project. thanks to you.
Excellent video Sal, thank you for sharing so much of your knowledge and experience. You’re one of my go to channels as I learn how to DIY my bathroom.
Unless you’re tiling a shopping mall or something where every penny counts on the bid… for residential I buy the very best modified thinset the distributor stocks. the cost difference is peanuts in the overall job costs. And no-sag was a game-changer for me when I discovered it - that’s all I use on walls/ceilings now.
Another excellent video! This information is golden. I am a tiling newbie though I've done a lot of home remodeling and repair. Your concise explanation is incredibly useful. I'm about to do a tub surround followed by a shower and the information provided will help make it successful. Much appreciated. 👍
Thank You Sal for all your advice. I am looking at replacing my drummy ceramic tiles on a concrete floor, could you please tell me which thin set I should use. Thank You
Oh yes I’ve watched this many times but I’m a visual hands on learner, I need a black or white board with chart to keep track of all you are saying. I always use modified … at least so far.
Longtime follower, subscriber and student of yours, Sal and like below, grateful to you for your posts over the years. And I have an unrelated question that I'm hoping you can help me with: Can you recommend the best adhesive for 1/4 round pieces I wish to install along my shower wall/ledge? The foundation materials are composite base and aluminum trim/track for the glass enclosure.
Hi Sal, Thank you fir sharing your experience n knowledge. I am looking to create a mixed media of stone, wood, glass, and wood on an outdoor cement substrate washroom on a beach front. I watched your video and found it really informative. For my outdoor mural ... would I use the modified higher content one for no dragging and strong bond? Denise
I’m glad I found your channel, it’s good to learn from a pro. I’m thinking the high quality thin sets are gonna be available from distributors not big box stores?
Great video thanks for sharing. My tub surround was tiled with 12x24 ceramic tiles and a regular versabond modified thinset from the box store. Would you be worried about tiles falling off the wall?
do you ever use "100% solids epoxy adhesive"? Looks like Wedi is recommending that for small mosaic tiles in its shower system but I'm trying to find out if it's a necessity. They also recommend taking the mesh off the mosaics, but I know some people do this and some don't so maybe it's the same with the mortar recommendation?
So Schluter says "any of their thinsets" for their applications. Woud you use Schulter Set or All Set for 12x24 Porcelain Tiles over Kerdi Board, and Ditra Heat on the floor?
We recently installed Bianco Carrara Hexagon tile on our shower floor bathroom. A couple of hours after the shower was turned on, it almost appears as if there is damming around the drain. The carrara tile remains darker for days after. I've done research and based of what I've found it looks like epoxy adhesive/mortar should have been used. Would you agree?
Epoxy thinset, silicone around the perimeter, epoxy grout and breathable sealer, for a sealed system, or a properly constructed Water in, water out shower system with a two stage drain. This is a known issue.
Sal, when I go to your mail page and select “store” there is only a mug. List all your links so there is a main location for all your products and I don’t have to search your different videos for all the links to find your different stores. I don’t drink coffee and don’t want a mug I want tee shirts I can wear out to advertise for you! Speaking of which where is your “elite” tile company listed in the national tile association book? Get listed in the 5 stars and I’m going to contact them and get your channel listed under education!
That's a dang masterclass right there, Sal.
You guys do a pretty good job as well, getting good info out there.
Awesome video, made me just rethink my LFT mortar choice and decided its worth the few extra bucks to upgrade.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I’ve watched so many of your videos to learn as much as I can before I begin tiling my bathroom. I have 3 bathrooms in total to do.

Would be great if there was a chart or spreadsheet as a reference for when to look for which ANSI standard.
Every manufacturer has one. Called a cataloged.
Excellent Explanation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad you liked it!

Thanks, always wanted to understand differences. Appreciate the information.

Penny tile, installed on a Schluter Kerdi pre sloped pan. Modified or un modified and why? Thanks!
Thank you, on point, well communicated.
Great content

Yes Wedi shower trays require epoxy mortar for small tiles, and epoxy grout.
Thank you so much!@@SalDiBlasi
I probably missed it but can I use modified over red guard? I keep getting conflicting answers
yes
Great explanation
Glad it was helpful!

All Set

This was just a re-release of your old video on the subject 🤔
Correct, trimmed and edited to be more concise. Is that a problem?
@@SalDiBlasinope! That’s good. it just seems like a reupload as I had déjà vu watching it.
Sal - What are your thoughts on Versabond?
It meets the standard on the bag. I never use it.
Sal, can I use schluter all set thinset for glass mosaic ?
No, not recommended for glass.
@Sal DiBlasi I know you use ardex x77 but can ardex x5 work for glass ? Thank you

Ha, the questions I'm 'now' going to ask my so called tile guy is going to piss him off.
😊👍
Thanks for the great video! If using ditra to a concrete floor and installing large ceramic plank tiles, am I ok to use any non modified mortar?
yes
👍👍😀
