Both sound really nice, I’d give the MM a slight edge, a slight better definition (or tone) for my taste. But that might be do to the rosewood neck. Nice job 👍
The real deal sounds like the "real deal"!!! Looks like he's having more fun on the "real deal"! I've been itching for the sire with the HS set up cuz l want a stingray or sterling with the h/s set up and the lakland 55-02 didn't do it for me, neither did the ibanez 815, (ordered it from gc and returned it the very next day!) slapping does not look fun on a HH stingray, lol. Can you lower the front pickup enough you can fit your finger under? I wouldn't want to run a big humbucker like that too close to the strings in the neck anyway
MM blows this out of the water. Its not that z3 is bad or anything but Stingray is pure magic. Also latest stingrays come with 18 v preamp not 9v as they use to be.
MM sounds better than Sire, you can especially hear it on slap! In addition, the author of the video, the volume on the Sire was made higher than the MM, you need to make the same volume on both instruments, otherwise this is not a correct comparison!

Sounds like the pickup in the sire is wired in series.
Series is the thickest tone on the M7 preamp, switches go down, I kinda agree on your view
Thanks for max treble shootout - the zing, that's what I need from a stingray bass :) Sire sounds pretty damn close to the real thing, is not it?

Wouldn’t a better comparison be the Sterling Stingray?
I want to know how close the Sire is to the real Stingray, not how close it is to another cheap copy.
The Z3 sounds a bit more harsh than the Stingray, but it still is a killer bass for the money.
Other type of string and EQing could smoothen that out. but yes value is good
It's just cause the EQ is crazy and lets you add top end. The Musicman doesn't really do the high highs, it's kinda filtered off.
